good lord
some named dragon just dropped in right on top of me. I hit him once with my shield and held down attack to do a big hit and it went straight into the cut scene of me bashing his head in. 11/21/2011 10:05:44 PM |

Fought two giants at the same time with sword and shield...and magic and potions and bows
Still, felt pretty damn sweet to be able to fight them on common ground. The time slow down shield perk is absolutely worth it, I was interrupting all of their attacks, getting hits in when they where stunned, and running back out to avoid their next attack - or block it and still live lol
Also, just did the nettlebane quest in the cave where you have to get the sap, and no one wanted to do that prayer thing. What gives? 11/21/2011 10:54:12 PM |

SPOILER!!!
^ You have to bring the guy from Whiterun who asks to go with you. Once in Eldergleam Sanct, talk to the woman and show her the weapon, run up the stairs and hack at the roots blocking the path. Once all of the roots are out of the way, start walking up to the tree and look back at the dude who came along. He stops following. Talk to him and he protests your violent methods and suggests another way to get the sapling. Let him do it and $$$.

I'll start.
I'm a male Nord. Bald with white warpaint on my R. ear and L. part of my face. My left eye is bright blue, and my right eye is completely white (like, blind white). I have a dark brown pointy beard. I'm roided out with veins sticking out of my arms and neck.
My name?

^^ bah. I fast traveled to the giant camp near there and we got ambushed by a dragon. Fucker ate my the guy who was trying to pound on him with his fists so I never got the option of doing that quest the 'safe' way 11/22/2011 12:24:25 AM |

Weird, I never got a guy to talk to me about that. I got the quest when I was about level 10 and just completed this phase at level 26 so maybe he got bored and stopped waiting for me.
I too was attacled by a dragon near there. It was my first frost dragon, felt good to finally man handle one (Nord frost resistance)...or at least not have to run like a little bitch whenever it started its breath attack 11/22/2011 7:10:56 AM |

On a quest right now to free one of the Grey-Mane brothers from a Thalmor fort. The only way I can do it "peacefully" is to join the Imperial Legion. 11/22/2011 9:15:25 AM |

Can't you also do it peacefully with a really high speech skill? I don't have a high speech skill but I seem to remember a speech check that I failed when I went up there. 11/22/2011 10:00:14 AM |

Looking at some forums online, it looks like you can only do it if you are in the Imperial Legion.
But I just reconsidered. I am a NORD. Eff the Imperial Legion! Eff the Empire! 11/22/2011 10:04:20 AM |

yeah that guy sucked. The problem with magic users is if you use up your mana, his staff hits your health hard.

Does anyone else have a strange wooden mask whose only discription is that it contains an "unusual energy".
As far as skills my character is leveled Destruction, conjuration, 1-handed, restoration, and Smithing. May start leveling my enchanting and will quit leveling Destruction after getting impact.
I have thought about leveling Alteration but the only magic i use is the mage armor. I figure it is not worth wasting a perk to get 50% off the mage armors when I merely have to cast it once and i'm suited for a minute. With 320 Magicka I can absorb the short hit or pop a potion.11/22/2011 10:46:43 AM |

I just let the Dremora summons from my Sanguine Rose deal with Morokei. Had to use like 10 charges because they kept dying but eventually them, lydia firing arrows for some reason (seriously, I give her the sweetest enchanted swords and axes I find and she uses her crappy hunting bow and iron arrows), and me running in to slash his back with my bound sword took him down.
Honestly I had more trouble with the skeletal dragon at the beginning because lydia never made it through the gate before it closed. Eventually I had to stand at the closed gate and summon atronochs on the other side, so I took out all the skeletons before opening the gate and facing the dragon.
^Alteration has got some sweet anti-mage perks though, absorbing magicka and magic resist. Especially awesome if you're a breton and already get 25% magic resist.

Also I didn't want to use lydia with my mage character, I was using Sven from Riverwood. But he died somewhere during the mission where those magic wraiths are attacking Winterhold. I never even found his body.
Also he always played a flute/recorder thing anytime he wasn't doing anything, which was alright in cities but kinda wierd in some undead dungeon. 11/22/2011 11:06:17 AM |

That is where my Lydia died. Her ash pile forever remains at the foot of the bridge to the college. Tolfdir accidently nuked her during the battle, I think. I also quicksaved too many times before realizing she was gone.

When you get the perks they autocast soul trap and dispel/turn any conjured creatures immediately.
I have no idea what kind of damage they do, no doubt they don't stack up to weapons with maxed smithing and enchants, but they seem to do enough damage to keep up. Also they look freaking sweet and don't weigh anything, plus increase your conjuration skill. 11/22/2011 11:36:36 AM |

Reason she is probably using that bad bow is that companions do not level up with you. If you encountered her at low level then she is perma stuck at level 5 or whatever. Open up console, click on her, and do disable and then enable. This will make her basically be "re-encountered" and she will scale as if she just met you. Shouldn't lose any items either but i'd save before it just to be safe. 11/22/2011 11:38:20 AM |

Need bigger mana pool. Just hit 75 and thunderbolt is way inefficient. It's awesome if I just have one dude to kill but I can't chain impact with it because dual casting it clears out most of my mana pool. Guess I should have been putting it all in Magicka instead of Magicka-Magicka-Health. 11/22/2011 11:44:28 AM |

Man you guys are moving through the game.
I am 33 and I have no idea who Morokei is, what the attack on winterhold is (not even been there yet). Hell I still need to do most of the quests in Markarth.
I am assuming you can get better weapons than you can craft. I am just using legendary daedric mace right now with a so-so frost enchant 11/22/2011 1:00:15 PM |

That stuff is all mages college specific stuff. If you aren't in the mages college you won't see any of those things.
Actually no, the best weapons in the game are the ones that you craft and enchant yourself. 11/22/2011 1:01:39 PM |

I think the blocking time slowdown is buggy for me. It will start the slow down...and not stop for literally 30 seconds. I will be running around the enemy, making a ton of attacks against their backside, shield bashing, and it will arbitrarily stop when it feels like it. Also, sometimes its enough time for me to simply back out and avoid the hit all together. It happened against a bear, against 2 wolves who attacked at once with power attacks, a giant, a dark brotherhood assassin, and a thief dual wielding daggers...which was especially amusing since his power attack was several attacks in a row, and the time warp triggers for each strike.
I came across a Nord potential follower (Rjord or something) who taught me shield techniques upon completing his quest, then offered to be my follower. I couldn't take him since I had Lydia, but is he any good? If I dismissd Lydoa to my house and gathered him up, would he be about the same as her? Or is he a temporary deal. Would he go to my house upon dismissal to switch followers? 11/22/2011 11:25:12 PM |

I am really really far behind all of you, just around 15th level so far. In the past ones I usually went with the super badass tank but wanted to do this completely different...basically using a sniping mage with a great bow and sneaking. Doing a lot of ambushes, using Fire Rune in a tight passage, sneaking ahead, shoot a few arrows at the enemy have them run towards me and I turn and run around the corner and let them fall into the Fire Rune then cast the Fire Anarachor (whatever its called) and let him finish them off while I pelt them with arrows, sparks, fire, ice bolt, light. bolt, etc I havent used an actual hand to hand weapon in forever. Usually never even get hit.
Game is a LOT of fun, so damn big. 11/23/2011 1:10:48 AM |

Though it would be cool to create a character to be a thief/killer/etc instead of the noble warrior i am now
In conclusion, I can imagine re-rolling
