A. Wilson signs with a new team, then this will blow up again

Lol I am a faggot for wanting Lowe gone and a ball-licker for supporting TOB. Get post btw.
Quote : | "Anyway, you guys don't understand that Russell Wilson is our whole team, even more than Rivers made the Amato teams. At least we sometimes had a good defense and good run game when Rivers was here." |
Actually RW hasn't even been the most important player on our team the last 3 years. I and many others I'm sure could see the difference when #56 was playing and when he wasn't. That's why we still posted 2 losing records with RW at QB, because Irving was hurt one whole season and missed parts of another. I'd like to see our record with Irving and without. And to be honest, our defense last year kept us in many games when RW was struggling. The defense won the UCF game.

they have said they will not allow him to spend the fall playing college football. if he, god forbid, breaks his throwing arm, he becomes a wasted pick for the Rockies and he may never be the player they expected with the 4th round pick they spent on him." |
Ding! He played rookie ball last year. This year he is a Single-A. His career is starting now. This isn't short season ball. Some people posting in this thread have probably never played a sport.

Quote : | "“I really want the fans, N.C. State alumni and most of all my teammates to know if I had been given an equal opportunity to compete for the starting job, I would not have asked for my release,” Wilson said Saturday in a telephone interview. “I am a competitor.” Wilson, a three-year starter, is playing minor league baseball for the Asheville Tourists in the Colorado Rockies organization this summer. He said he wanted to come back to N.C. State this fall and attempt to lead the Wolfpack to an ACC championship. He said he didn’t want to have the starting job handed to him on a silver platter, but wanted an equal chance to compete for it. Wilson said it didn’t appear that he would be given that chance." |
It's odd that now RW says so confidently that he intended to play. Up until last week, from all I understood he was a complete question mark. If he were so sure he was going to return, why didn't he say this months ago? TOB might be stubborn, but I really don't think he would have turned RW down. Given that, it was honestly annoying to me that he was just leaving it up in the air, again, about whether or not he was returning. If I were on the team, I know I'd be frustrated. I thoroughly enjoyed watching RW play, especially the 90% of the time he was helping, and sometimes saving, the whole team. He's always shown class to go with his talent, and quite frankly it disappointed me to see him throw TOB under the bus with the statements I quoted.

^^ Honestly, i was surprised he didn't face a little more scrutiny after not going thru spring last year but hopefully everyone realizes when the personnel is
a) pretty drastically changed b) you're only going to get weeks/days (if you are even allowed to come back) with them c) the playbook is being designed for them
these simple variables should show everyone that any qb would have a tough time overcoming it.
Also, RW isn't going to go to another school, show up, and learn their playbook and offense in a few weeks/days either. 5/2/2011 1:28:13 AM |

Of course he is not given a chance because the offense is going to be completely retooled around a different QB. RW could not play in an offense designed for a 6'5" pocket passer so if the offense is being redesigned I think TOB did RW a favor by telling him to go elsewhere if he wants a legitimate chance of starting.5/2/2011 8:59:27 AM |

what's this "Wilson would report at the start of June" stuff I'm reading?
I thought the problem was that TOB didn't want to get burned at the last second when Wilson decided against returning. Could he really not have waited one more month?

It won't matter what Wilson does so long as Glennon plays well. And I'd have to think that the odds of Wilson mastering a brand new offense under a brand new coach with brand new receivers, all within a few weeks, after nearly nine months away from football, and then succeeding in the SEC... are pretty low. 5/2/2011 1:56:43 PM |

Is anyone mentioning Jerimiah Masoli as a comparable?
Obviously vastly different circumstances, but still, both mobile QBs with a track record transferring to play one year at a new school.
Masoli threw for 2000 yards with almost as many picks as scores. I think Russell can top those numbers. 5/2/2011 2:17:51 PM |

Why would he report in June to a team this year? He left his rookie ball team last year to report a few weeks before the first game last year, and now he would leave his Single-A team even earlier to report to an entirely new school and situation? I still want to hear the Rockies say they going to let him go again before I start thinking RW is going to play for a new school this fall. He could just leave the Rockies organization, but I wish he'd made an earlier commitment to NCSU so this situation could've been avoided. Hopefully he starts hitting well enough he doesn't want to leave.

I hope Russell goes to a top 5 program and wins the Heisman.
It will not mean anything for TOB. The fact is, you cannot plan around someone like Russell unless you have a backup plan for Russell that can run in the same system. That is not something we have, so it's one of those impossible delimmas.
Therefore, TOB took the responsible route.... Dude is not a gambler .... and is planning around what he knows he has. Add to that that he sees great potential out of MG...
Would love to see both NCSU and Russell do well this coming season. And I hope both teams beat the shit out of UNCheat

Did those schools show interest in him or something?

People are getting those because they are schools who are in need of a QB, RW is a hot commodity, and said he has been contacted by several SEC schools.

Ernie nails it again.
I'm actually hoping he lands somewhere big and we find out that Wilson is a great athelete but only a pretty good QB. He doesn't have a QB mind like Rivers such that he is going to be able to absorb a new system and be successful in it.
If I'm wrong, so be it...I just saw a Wilson last year that largely underwhelmed me and often times left me wondering if he had actually backslid a little.5/2/2011 5:59:43 PM |
