Pulling for Vancouver. All we need is another east coast team from a city full of assholes to win a championship, thus re-activating the bandwagon of assholes from that city that moved down here.

The telecast, which peaked at 3.25 million viewers from 10-10:30 p.m. ET, was the most-watched third-round game on cable since Detroit and Colorado renewed their epic rivalry in Game 7 on May 31, 2002. Team will play out of the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference for one year before NHL realignment kicks in.

Do not believe any firm decision has been made on the name of the team but ownership appears to prefer moving away from the name Jets."

Nothing new, but it's official.

Told you "smart" fans the league was not working on two schedules. Lots of travel coming up.

You're a fucking retard. Just because the division isn't realigned, doesn't mean there didn't have to be two schedules. Building availabilities change everything. The NHL does get prime pick, but there are situations where the fucking jonas brothers or lady GaGa have tour dates booked a year in advance. The nhl can't bounce them, and needs to plan accordingly.

Did I mention that you're fucking retarded? Read back to when this came up the first time. Some people know what the fuck they're talking about.

yeah i know the NHL openly said they had two different schedules ready for PHX if they moved. I don't know why this wouldn't be the same

You're a fucking retard. If they had a second schedule, a schedule that reflected realignment - why would they not use it? Why would they wait till next season for realignment. I understand quite well on arena requests, thus the reason why the NHL was only making one schedule for 2011 / 2012

Just because you have a couple of TSN guys on your twitter and a cute little hockey theme nic name doesn't make you an expert. You were wrong, get over it.

because realignment is a petitionable move, iirc. the league doesnt just move people... there's an extended process, including grievances from other teams.

the dual schedule was based on building availability, feasibility of travel, and to an extent game times for tv considerations. not realignment.

christ, you're fucking thick.

as for your last statement, lulz. go back to page 13.

it was never said that the 2nd schedule took conference realignment into account. put your jump to conclusions mat away and actually READ.

you still have to have two different schedules planned. There's these things called building availabilities, and you have to factor in travel. That is, we probably won't see a panthers-winnepeg home and home back to back.

It had been widely reported that they were building two schedules.

again, how does any of this prove any point other than you inferring shit and being wrong about it?

I believe the two schedule scenario was cited by several people on this board.... and none of it had to definitely do with WPG being in the West and a West team moving East.

Just my two cents....

It sounds like the ownership group is steering away from the Jets name... at least at last check I had on it...

^^^They'd have to buy the trademark. And going with "jets" could potentially cut into jersey sales, as opposed to a new brand.

Best suggestion I've seen so far:

Winnipeg Jorts

i dont see them using the manitoba moose name. Winnipeg Falcons was floated... not sure i like that. seems tired and over used.

they need a beer league team name.

Moose Knuckles, Mighty Merkins, Tonsil Hockey, etc.

game show for pirates

They should keep the name, just redesign the jersey and logo - enough to encourage merchandise sales.

Winnipeg Thrashers? Really? Makes about as much sense as all your other posts.

I don't really care about either of these teams, so I'll just say Vancouver in 6 because Canada needs a Cup.

I think he means keep the Jets name.

I'll be frustrated if it's not Jets, but it's becoming quite clear that it won't be.

I meant keep the jets name, just redesign the logo so you can sell a buttlaod of new merchandise.

Thanks for shitting on all my other posts!

Also of interest - here is what the nordiques would have looked like if they stayed in Quebec:

I'm aware. I was just applying another bad old ECHL name to the Unnamed Winnipeg Team.

Man, ECHL teams have always had horrible names.

Pee Dee Pride
Macon Whoopie
Louisville RiverFrogs (wtf? why?)
Winston-Salem Polar Twins (or were they CHL?)
Louisiana IceGators (the whole "two words mashed together that retain their capital letters" trend was really dumb)
Jacksonville Lizard Kings (Jim deserved better)
Columbia Inferno (sounds like a club)
Lexington Man 'O War (I always think of the jellyfish)
and the dumbest ever, Greenville Grrrowl (now replaced by the Road Warriors, which makes no sense when they play in Greenville)

Gotcha on the bad names for WPG...

Polar Twins were CHL, the ECHL team was the Thunderbirds.

Louisville also had the IceHawks.

I was never a fan of the IceCaps or Ice Pilots. Just lame.

I suppose it was creative, but the Boardwalk Bullies I thought was pretty shitty too. Although, Kirk Maltby's younger brother played for them.
