I don't listen to a lot of Christmas music, but I've always enjoyed his Christmas albums and will pick these up as well. They make their way into my general music rotation around the holidays. I've also enjoyed the majority of material he has put out though.

Just acquired the new coheed and cambria...not sure what to think of it. Back in the day (late hs I guess), I was a huge coheed freak (2nd stage, in keeping secrets) and loved how (dont judge) 'raw' it felt. It wasnt overly produced, the lyrics each told a story in a song, all of it was unique and very expressive. Their past two efforts have been way too polished/clean/studio/produced for my taste. It's still 'good' but I cant help but feel let down by all of it. The lyrics have seemed to regress into less of a story, and more of a catchphrase (almost all of their new songs have dumb expressions you'd hear on tv or something you'd read on a clever blog).

Meh, I enjoy the album at a high level compared to other rock but I'm still going back to their old stuff to scratch that itch.

Is btbam ever gonna go back to writing songs or is it gonna be riffoffs from here on out?

I was hoping it wouldn't go in this direction. It seems like the last few releases have been getting progressively more like this. Songs I remember the entirety of, even though I haven't listened in a long time. A few good riffs in the middle of a bunch of random stuff. One killer riff repeated a few times inbetween random crap. But now, there literally isn't a memorable song on this entire record. At one point I was like "Oh hey that riff is from the ep oh yeah I am still listening to this shit"


New Converge is different but good imo.

New Wiccans slays.

New Pineapple Thief is mediocre

New Faceless is meh

New Fight Amputation is meh

New Dysrhythmia sounds like Dysrhythmia mixed with everything else Colin Marston has ever done.

New DsO is okay.

All the new Chelsea Wolfe shit rules.

I don't think Stickles' voice is any different.

Can we talk about how "Food Fight" is basically "Personality Crisis?" I don't think it's a coincidence considering it's a sort of interlude song and Stickles has been playing a TV Yellow Les Paul Junior, but it's still a little odd.

i guess to me it just seems like when he makes that guttural tone it's not as low as it used to be or something. idk, i can kinda notice a difference between "a more perfect union" and "my eating disorder," but they're 2 songs on 2 different records, and maybe it's more him going for a different vocal sound than it is deterioration.
