Also, This:
1.5 weeks ago Kavanaugh: I’m gonna call balls and strikes based on precedent and jurisprudence, political party shouldn’t be a factor in SCOTUS decision making.
Today Kavanaugh: THESE FUCKING DEMOCRATS ARE ALL PARTISAN AND LIARS AND ARE OUT TO GET ME9/27/2018 4:34:49 PM |

You think he’s going to leave DC knowing he leaves behind a potential loss of control of the Senate and not push through a super conservative Justice? If he thought they had enough time to ram Barrett through I could see it but logistically they are short on time. 9/27/2018 4:41:04 PM |

^^We'll see in the midterms I suppose. Probably more accurate to at least say it's the optics that look way worse more than anything at the moment.
Also, someone on Reddit mentioned that the first woman to speak today (Feinstein) was interrupted almost immediately. I thought that was a pretty interesting observation.
^I can't think of very many hearings at all where the questioning was good. In nearly all cases, the representatives are asking questions on topics that are beyond their generation and hilariously out of their competency. Even when their experience aligns with the subject matter they aren't looking for anything other than appearances. Hell, most of Gowdy's questioning throughout all of the Russia investigation-related hearings was absurd and he was a damned lawyer.

Pretty much every article is about “the breakdown of the system” and not that we are about to confirm a lying, partisan hack who has a credible allegation of sexual assault levied against him.

I’m still in awe that they really pushed this guy through with tons of other generic conservative justices equally as qualified.
They have all become the party of “liberal tears.” It’s shocking to me. Of course I’d be against a justice like Barrett just like I was Gorsuch but this is just totally delegitimizing the court. He literally was making Alex Jones like conspiracy comments Yesterday. 9/28/2018 9:55:01 AM |

I wish they did a better job of speculating what's really going on and really put it out there for people watching to understand. He would never be guilty in a court of law, they needed to make him look guilty in the court of public opinion. Even if it's obvious, someone needed to say it out loud so that even constituents would know what excuses the Senate is hiding behind and be more informed come November.
Kavanaugh likely did what he did. He was young and stupid like most kids that age. It may very well be true that he doesn't even recall that it happened considering his background. It has always been telling that you are the company that you keep. His friends, how they grew up, how they behaved can easily reflected upon his own behavior. Doesn't help that he basically tried to paint himself as a boy scout and choir boy and then had to admit that he wasn't that innocent. Already lying from the get go. Ultimately, he grew up and grounded himself and stopped doing all that stupid crap and is likely living a life that is above board and is a good family man and has earned the reputation he's had since being a more functional member of society. Doesn't dismiss the fact that he made some poor decisions in his past.
He knows that he can lie through his teeth even under threat of perjury. He knows that there isn't corroborating evidence and that since this occurred some 35 years ago, there will be no evidence that will find him guilty in said court of law. If admitting he made a mistake means he has basically disqualified himself from being a part the Supreme Court vs lying and still having a chance with little to no likelihood he could be convicted of perjury, it seems an easy decision. He's a judge after all; he knows what he's up against and knows the loopholes out there to save himself.
If he was to fail to get the votes, his life isn't over. Look at where he got himself to be a nominee in the first place. That position doesn't go away. He'll be fine, it's not the end of the world, even though he's portrayed himself as some victim that won't be able to find a decent job again. 9/28/2018 10:02:14 AM |

Do we credit McConnell, or anyone in the GOP, for this?? I totally see the trend you are describing but, I have a hard time crediting them for it. It’s like this weird innate deference that is always given to conservatives by the media. I just don’t get it.
Perfect example, Durbin asks Kavanaugh multiple times if he’d call for an FBI investigation. Eventually Kavanaugh just scrunched his nose, pursed his lips and refused to say anything. Was there any moment that screamed “I’m guilty AF” as loud as that? Moments later Lyndsey Graham went on his lame ass throwaway tirade.
By my eye, media is featuring Graham’s bullshit way more than that guilty AF moment (I’ve only seen that guilty AF moment on twitter really). So god damn frustrating.9/28/2018 10:41:36 AM |
