In general, I'm confident with Ellis in net, but Peters has always been super uninspiring to me. Hope he changes that.

I think the Canes may need to look some trade options? Just because he is back for the playoffs doesn't mean he will be good in the playoffs.

I don't think we need to look at a trade until we see how Ellis does. 11 of our next 16 games are against teams currently out of playoff position, so it's not THAT tough of a stretch to get him used to playing the role of #1 goalie, and he's looked sharp thus far (even last night when he apparently had the flu).

As for Peters, I'm gonna reserve judgment since it sounds like he's improved quite a bit. Even last year, he had a shaky start or two, but the rest were fine. He's been solid for Charlotte this year and should be in mid-season form since he's been playing since October. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Can't wait to get Ruutu back. Assume the lines would be something like:
Tlusty-Staal-Semin
Skinner-Staal-Ruutu
Jokinen-Nash-Dwyer/Bowman
LaRose/Dwyer/Bowman-Brent-Wallace

^ Wouldn't say that. Our division has mostly sucked so far this year and we haven't looked better than a 3 seed anyway, so it's not like our seeding would likely change much if we had Cam in goal. We just need to beat the (many) beatable teams we play and we should be fine.

I'm not too worried about Ellis. He's shown he's capable in the past and this season. It's not like we've been winning games because of our goaltending (there have been a couple of course). Sometimes it's been in spite of it.

Also, this division might be shittier than it has ever been.

With the way the team has been playing when they are healthy, I think we can play Ellis and still win the SE.

However, with Anaheim locking up Fasth to that deal, I wonder if we make a call about Hiller. Of course, what would we do with him once Cam gets healthy?

Shore up the D, let's roll the dice. The southeast is fucking terrible. We can manage until Cam gets back.

I'm not sure if people are suggesting a trade move for a goalie, but I don't think that's necessary at all. As others have pointed out, we can't trade for a new #1 because we already have one who is going to come back this season. We already have a solid #2 ( ) who can perform as a serviceable #1. But we definitely need a DFD if we want to minimize our chances of a total meltdown, because Peters can't handle the load if Ellis goes to shit. I could see us giving up McBain, Sanguinetti, anyone who isn't a top 6 forward (save the centers), or, of course, draft picks.

But with all the depressing injury news, just think about how fucking sick this team would be if we were healthy all season. It's deep run in the playoffs material:
