Four votes in both the AP and Coaches Poll. Barring a catastrophe, seems we could climb into the Top 25 before the Louisville game.

Best thing is no significant injuries after the game. (Haven't heard anything on Tocho, but I'm guessing he's ok.) For those keeping track of opponent injuries --

*Clemson likely lost their star WR for the season
*Syracuse lost their starting QB for the season
*VT lost their QB for at least half the season (we play them before he'd return)

^and Pitt lost James Conner for the year.

I think Doeren said Tocho's injury was "minor"

Yeah sounds like Tocho will play this week.

And yeah Pitt lost Conner, but they aren't on our schedule, so basically helps out the Coastal division.

Louisville had their #1 WR go down, listed as doubtful this week. I'd imagine he'll be ready to play by our game though barring some major setback.

ESPN is listing the game against South Alabama as a Friday game now. When did this happen?

Also plz2 hurry up and decide a game time so I can plan my day. Gonna be in biloxi that weekend with the girlfriends family and want to make time to drive to Mobile and see it

^^must just be a mistake...it's a Saturday game. think game times are generally announced ~2 weeks before the game. so i think the monday after the EKU game they should announce.

Oh yea, just realized they have every game for us listed as a Friday game after ODU.

Probably something to do with the only not TBD time being the Va Tech game on Friday. I guess theres an algorithm or something that does a 7 day difference from that for the rest of the schedule.

Idk only way it makes sense to me. That or someone dumb manually entered it all in wrong

We're not in the SEC. 4-0 against cupcakes won't get us there .

I think it's possible - ODU isn't a pushover. If we can pull off a win vs. Louisville we'll definitely be in the T25. VTech losing their QB definitely helps us. Then it would just be one more for bowl eligibility

He may be back by then...and it's not the offense we would have to worry with. Their DL may be one of the best we see all year.

the VT game isn't a pushover...it will be interesting to see how ECU does against them.

^^^^VT's DL WILL be the best DL we face all year, arguably #1 in the nation, top 5 at worst.

Even if we go 4-0, it'll take some "help" for us to be ranked, mainly those teams in the 20-25 range to lose a game or two and no one behind us to get "better" wins than us. Going 5-0 would probably do it, but I'm not convinced we'll beat Louisville based on both team's first games.

Also, fun fact, Beamer is 10-1 in games on short weeks at VT, they play a short week this week against Furman, so likely going to be 11-1 soon. Also remember, we play them on a short week @VT, so that'll be tough. By then the back-up QB should be a little more steady than he was in the tOSU game.

Anyone else disappointed that the likely "premier bowl" for the ACC champ of they miss the playoff is the Peach?

We won that shit like 5 times already! Give us a Fiesta!

If it was the Sugar, I could die a happy man that day.

Fun fact: Beamer is old and needs to retire. Also fun fact: Motley isn't going to magically get better, he's in his 4th year at VT and he just isn't a good QB.

^Well if Motley isn't good enough to sustain their success, they'll burn Lawson's redshirt and let him play. That defense is too good to just give up 5-6 weeks of your schedule. The schedule isn't brutal, but still, can't afford to drop Pitt/NCSU/Miami before Brewer is likely back.

Davis and Till enrolled at NC State in 2014 and redshirted last season. Both players were recruited out of Maryland."

Damn... I thought Davis looked pretty good in the spring game given that he'd moved over from defense. Till looked pretty tough and had a decent catch or two.

How far in advance do they typically announce kickoff times? For some reason I thought it was two weeks in advance but I can't be sure where I saw that or if I imagined it.

I have potential to buy tickets for the Louisville game but I can only go if it's an evening kickoff. I suppose I could just buy and resell if I can't make it, although I would rather not have to deal with the hassle.

Usually two weeks, so the Louisville time could be announced on Sunday. The networks get at least 2 6-day options, which means they can wait until the Sunday before the game to announce the time.

Given Louisville's rough start to the season, that might have it at noon.

No problem. I don't know if the 8pm ESPN News slot that we got for the South Alabama game is a normal ACC slot, but I'd be surprised if it was. Usually it's just ESPN/2/U.

The Red White game is prior to the football game, so it will have to be late enough to have a game prior & early enough to not need lights.

N&O article on Samuels

Quote :
"“I’ve been a trash-talker since high school,” Samuels said. “I just like to be competitive. That’s just a part of my game.”

Every now and then a teammate will have to tell Samuels to settle down, but quarterback Jacoby Brissett takes an “if ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to Samuels’ jawing.

“He does good while he’s talking, so he might as well keep talking,” Brissett said.

Doeren is OK with some trash talk, as long as Samuels avoids being penalized for it and he “respects the game,” Doeren said."

I lol'd at "respect the game"

you realize TV sets the game time, not the athletic department, right? ESPN/ACC Network don't care about a basketball scrimmage. They'll make that a noon game if they want to.

Yeah we won't get any serious consideration by most voters until we beat at least 1 "legit" team, so if we manage to beat Louisville(even if they are 1-3), we'll start getting more votes.

Obviously Dayes (and Samuels) took care of business, but wasn't this supposed to be Shadrach's first game back? I think I saw him get like 4 carries?. Is he still in the doghouse or was this just Coach D playing the hot hand?

the game falls on my birthday. I was going to get a lot of friends together to get tickets and tailgate but I'm not sure now that it's a noon game.

really disappointing the Louisville has started out so poorly. If they had played to their potential it would probably be a night game between two ranked opponents (that's a maybe for State) and with the outdoor red/white game it could have been an ESPN Game Day location.

Louisville at 4-0 with wins over Clemson and Auburn(at that point) would definitely be a top 25 team. NC State at 4-0 will not be ranked, regardless.

I'd give us realistically no shot at Gameday coming for that game, I'm not even sure we'd still get the 8:00 primetime ACC game with Clemson/ND playing the same day.

Realistically the only shot we have at Gameday even considering coming to NC State, would be 7-0 NC State(100% would be ranked at that point) hosting 7-0 Clemson(would be at least top 10). I put the odds of that all happening at about 1%.
