Regardless of the crowd, we should be leary of GT. The crowd doesn't make that much of a difference. We went into the Oakland Zoo and stomped a ranked Pittsburgh.

So if this team gets on a roll and Henderson comes back...aren't we starting to seem like a typical Gottfried team? hot late in the season, barely sneaks into the tourney but no one wants to play them...get to a sweet 16, have high hopes for the next season and then the star leaves...so we start all over again.

i think it'd be much more like that had we not starting 1-7 in the conference. if we had stumbled to a 3-5 record and then got hot, i'd agree. but at this point i think it's just too late.

I really can't see us doing much better than 6-3 in that stretch and we need to go 7-2. 6-3 would be a damn miracle really. This week will be big as we have to beat FSU and who the hell knows with Duke. Maybe we could pull the upset.

The games against UNC and UVA look bad on paper, but UNC is entering a tough stretch of ACC games which could wear them down and UVA has had some bad losses albeit only on the road. Winning at Syracuse and ND will be very tough. We dug ourselves into too big a hole losing games to VT, Wake, GT, and FSU.

Do we even need to be 9-9? Been looking back at conference's RPI rankings over the years...the ACC is stacked this year (RPI wise). 13 teams in the top 100 right now. There were only 11 teams for the Big East in the top 100 in 2011-2012 when UCONN got into the tourney with an 8-10 conference record, and they didn't even win a conference tourney game. With our remaining schedule, we could probably go 6-3 and have a really good shot ( as long as we don't lose to Clemson/Wake Forest/ Boston College) maybe even 5-4 if we show well in the ACC tournament. Of course, the chance of us even reaching an 8-10 record is still very close to 0% .

Heard Gott on the pregame show tonight talking about Henderson. Sort of a bad news, good news deal.

Good news is that Henderson has started practicing with the team again, running drills and shooting.

Bad news is Gott said he still seemed "a couple weeks away," and said he can't really cut or jump at this point. Plus he's not in game shape at all, obviously.

The INTERESTING news is that Gott hinted that Henderson could probably be granted a medical hardship year this year. Said something along the lines of the NCAA is "very likely to work with us and give Terry another year."

Speculating here, but it sounds like Gott would rather him just sit out all year at this point. So maybe he comes back in a couple weeks, maybe he comes back for another year.
