Clemson vs UNC starts at 8 pm this Saturday, which means ending around midnight.

what a slap in the face. Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has Northwestern projected to play Tennessee in the Outback Bowl#13 team in the world versus the 6th best team in the SEC (and receiving 8 votes in the current poll)

Someone assure me UNC won't beat Clemson
11/29/2015 10:25:09 PM
^I'm scared too. Clemson has given up 22+ points in 5 games this season. They haven't really destroyed anyone outside of Miami. UNC can score a lot too.
11/29/2015 10:36:52 PM
Clemson is no offensive slouch either. They've scored over 33 points in 9 gamesthey can give up 35 to UNC for all I care, just as long as they score the 37 they're averaging this season
11/29/2015 10:40:44 PM
^I hope they put up 37+ on them. I don't want UNC to get to the playoff.
11/29/2015 10:45:35 PM
Gonna be very competitive, I can smell.
11/30/2015 8:42:46 AM
After watching both games, Im not sure that UNC isnt the better team. Their O-line looks superior, their receivers are deeper and the run game is superior. Clearly Clempson's D is better but I'm not sure that will offset UNC's O. UNC getting 6 isnt surprising but I'd put my $$$ on UNC as bad as I hate to say it.
11/30/2015 9:02:11 AM
The funny thing is, even if UNC beats Clemson, they need a ton of help to make the playoffs. UNC winning really just trashes the ACC's chances at the playoffs. I expect you'll see a lot of questionable calls in favor of Clemson this week, much like you saw in the UNC/NCSU game last week that went in UNC's favor.Playoff Spots:Oklahoma - locked.Iowa/Michigan St. winner - locked.Alabama - basically locked, 2+ TD favorite over UF. 4th spot will be Clemson's if they win, Stanford's if Clemson loses and they win, tOSU if both lose. UNC would have to beat Clemson, have Alabama lose despite being 17-point favorites, and have Stanford lose to USC.[Edited on November 30, 2015 at 9:29 AM. Reason : .]
11/30/2015 9:28:28 AM
I agree that's how it should play out, but don't put it past the committee to put UNC in just like they did with Ohio State last year. I want to see where 6-10 fall this week. That will give us a slight idea although again we saw last year how that didn't really matter.
11/30/2015 9:45:00 AM
I expect UNC will jump Stanford Tomorrow. In that case, they only need to jump past Ohio State to get in with a win. I'd expect that to happen as well. The comittee values conference championships and Ohio State is the odd team in in that case. Oklahoma - lockMichigan State/Iowa- lockClemson/UNCAlabama or (Ohio State or Stanford)[Edited on November 30, 2015 at 9:47 AM. Reason : Why do people think 2 loss stanford would beat out 1 loss UNC?]
11/30/2015 9:46:16 AM
11/30/2015 10:00:16 AM
So UNC should just let Clemson win and do Clemson a favor.

Oklahoma & Bama are in (only way Bama loses to Florida is if their bus falls off a cliff on the way to the game) along with the MSU/Iowa winnerIf Clemson wins they're obviously in as the 4th team. If Clemson loses, I would expect Ohio State to be the 4th team. Only way I think UNC gets a chance is if they beat Clemson handily. I think Iowa beating MSU would also help UNC a little
11/30/2015 12:45:08 PM
As much as the committee values conference titles, they already said they were going to hold playing 2 FCS teams against UNC and that the South Carolina loss would be really bad(look at who USCe lost to this year). I think UNC was more interested in padding the wins column with their schedule than trying to be competitive for the playoffs, and it could end up really costing them. All speculation at this point, but I think they'd have to beat Clemson by double-digits to really make a profound leap to the top 4 spots since realistically 3 of them are claimed and they're still behind Stanford and tOSU in the current rankings.
11/30/2015 1:03:31 PM
All preseason the pundits said the ACC was weak and would be the odd conference left out of the playoffs if the champion was not undefeated (referring to either FSU or Clemson). Do you really think a UNC team that still has yet to play a team ranked in the top 25 by the selection committee and has a loss to a 3-9 team will make it?
11/30/2015 1:32:47 PM
Only because that is the sort of shit that happens to me as a sports fan. Realistically they should be behind 4 or 5 other schools at least.
11/30/2015 2:08:17 PM
UNC lost to a team that lost to the Citadel, and their best win of the season through 12 games is versus Pittsburgh? They'd need so much to happen for them to get a shot at making the top 4. Not gonna happen.
11/30/2015 2:35:13 PM
Hopefully Clemson beats them by 30 and this is all moot.
11/30/2015 2:38:12 PM
Could be very tight, till the last min
11/30/2015 3:39:57 PM
UNC won't jump tOSU, especially if MSU wins making a one loss tOSU look even better only losing one game to MSU by 3. So UNC needs to crush Clemson, and 'Bama needs to lose. That is the only way I see them getting in, which would be something like :OK - In alreadyMSU/Iowa Winner - IntOSU UNCI think UNC can jump Stanford but not tOSU. A real funny scenario would be the MSU/Iowa game coming down to the very end with Iowa losing in OT but both teams looking really good, and 'Bama losing. Could that setup MSU, Iowa, and tOSU all making it at that point with OK? UNC would almost have to be put in if they won just so it wasn't 3 teams from one conference. But would be very easy to argue that all three of those teams are better than UNC, along with a 2 loss 'Bama, 2 loss Florida, and Stanford. I think a one loss team can easily jump or beat out UNC(or stay ahead), but not a two loss if they beat Clemson and look decent doing it. Most likely it is going to be Clemson, 'Bama, Iowa/MSU, and OK, would be fine with that group of 4, all conference champions, all played good schedules, and would all be fun to watch.
11/30/2015 4:10:31 PM
They'd put a 2-loss SEC champ Florida in over a 2nd Big Ten team, despite how terrible the SEC East is[Edited on November 30, 2015 at 4:33 PM. Reason : .]
11/30/2015 4:33:06 PM
I think if Florida beat 'Bama in like an ugly 14-10 type game where neither team moved the ball well, and MSU won big over Iowa then it could end up something like Clemson, MSU, OK, tOSU. Most likely not but isn't impossible to see that.
11/30/2015 4:39:38 PM
I think the SEC champ definitely gets in. I can certainly see scenarios when a 2nd Big Ten team would get in, but not at the expense of the SEC champs, even if it is a team that scored 2 points against Florida State this weekend and damn near lost to Florida Atlantic.I think Big Ten champs and SEC champs are locks. Then Clemson if they beat UNC, and most likely OklahomaIf Clemson loses, I could see Ohio State or Stanford taking that spot. But I don't see a non-SEC playoff, despite the fact that Bama is the only good team in the conference this year[Edited on November 30, 2015 at 4:42 PM. Reason : .]
11/30/2015 4:41:09 PM
OK is def in at this point, don't think that is in doubt, along with the MSU/Iowa winner.
11/30/2015 4:51:41 PM
guys stop talking about florida. florida isn't making it even if they win 35-0. if they somehow beat alabama, it will mostly just discredit alabama. being demolished by a non conference opponent not only confirmed that the sec is not elite, but it gave the acc some legitimacy. unc could be the ohio state of last year in terms of resume if they win. they would have the strongest win of all teams in contention and would be in. clemson would probably still be ranked ahead of florida at that point. notre dame losing really cleared things up. had they won, it would've been a complete train wreck of not knowing who to leave out. Ohio state is the only team who could steal the bid from the sec [Edited on November 30, 2015 at 4:58 PM. Reason : stanford and florida out]
11/30/2015 4:58:08 PM
Ohio State got in last year because of name recognition and they beat more than one good team. UNC has zero football name recognition and if they beat Clemson, that would be their only good win all year. And Florida's loss to FSU is MUCH, MUCH better of a loss than losing to South Carolina.
11/30/2015 5:32:57 PM
I am just happy we can discuss this, remember a few years ago??????????????hmmmmm
11/30/2015 5:57:53 PM
Nothings different. Its worse because it pretends to be better. Old system would be clemson vs iowa clearly and would unravel with an msu win
11/30/2015 6:52:38 PM
11/30/2015 7:36:25 PM
I think Clemson will win by 1-2 Touchdowns.
11/30/2015 7:38:19 PM
11/30/2015 7:46:41 PM
But the media still views the SEC as MUCH, MUCH better than the ACC.
11/30/2015 7:52:05 PM
lol, if UNC beats the #1 team in the country and only has one loss and Florida with two losses beats Bama, UNC will get in
11/30/2015 7:54:05 PM
It would be similar to a 2 loss LSU playing for the title instead of a 1 loss Kansas team in whatever year that was2 losses in the SEC > 1 loss in the ACCwins over Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia > 1 win over Clemsonbut it seems your trolling method of the day is to try and aggravate people by hyping up UNC's playoff chances, so carry on[Edited on November 30, 2015 at 8:00 PM. 11/30/2015 7:59:35 PM
did Kansas beat the #1 team in the country in their conf. championship game that year?just because you dont like it doesnt mean it's trolling...
11/30/2015 8:02:49 PM
no, you're wrong
11/30/2015 8:05:22 PM
The irony of that argument is that UNC's horrible loss was to an SEC team.

Lets not forget we are a 4th and 25 lateral miami style play away from Alabama not even winning its division which would have really thrown a wrench into things.

Espn just spent a long time talking about UNC and the playoff and they showed continued highlights of the game last week. [Edited on December 1, 2015 at 6:22 PM. Reason : E]

I agree that winning your conference should be mandatory.I mean, maybe an exception for the SEC
12/1/2015 7:32:07 PM
nd in front of unc despite losing to the only 2 good teams they played. this new system and committee is obviously just an excuse to get the big name programs in the playoffs every year. they literally completely ignore losses by ohio state and alabama.
12/1/2015 7:39:03 PM
^^so you think the final 4 should be Florida, Oklahoma, USC, and UNC if that is how it plays out this weekend?[Edited on December 1, 2015 at 7:39 PM. Reason : U]
