It's getting to be a regular thing where his Monday press conferences have at least one self-own in it. I mean, if you know this is true, then why did it take until the last two games to give Hayes real minutes?

Now Hayes is playing 30+, BB is playing off the ball with role player minutes (and shooting the rock well), and we are magically winning. To be fair, Pitt and Wake fuckin suck so maybe it's just a coincidence.

If Hayes shows out against UVA, then I'm gonna be even more salty that it took so damn long for Keatts to let the freshmen loose.

Maybe because he was trying to ease him in as the season progressed and he gained more experience and he gradually stopped turning the ball over as much, beacuse he's a freshman?

Also Hayes missed 2 games with covid and then was clearly limited in his return game (UNC) earlier in the year. Hayes also clearly struggled for a stretch in ACC play. Not to throw him under the bus, it’s part of being a freshman. But it’s hard to let a struggling freshman play 30 mins when the goal is to also win the games.

Hayes was averaging 19.3 mpg in his 3 OOC games (before his covid break). Moore averaged 15 mpg in his 5 OOC games. Sure, more minutes in our 4 blowout wins would’ve been better than fewer minutes. But there’s also issues of conditioning that we don’t know about, too. I think we can nitpick with the benefit of hindsight, for sure. Their minutes have obviously increased with injuries to other players, too.

It’s a delicate balance. Freshmen need to gain experience. But it’s hard to do that when you wanna have your best lineup on the floor and win games right now. It probably makes it 100x harder when there’s a very limited OOC schedule and preseason. It’s totally fair to question KK’s management and rotations.

This season was hanging by a thread before DD went down if not already flat out over. We had lost four straight including a loss to the worst miami team I have seen since Larranega has been there. After he went down, there is literally NO reason to continue to "ease" Hayes in. Season's over, give the freshmen the ball and let them gain experience--ya know, like his own quote says. It's a damn shame it didn't happen 7 games ago. Maybe we pull out one of the awful syracuse games. Maybe we don't get blown the fuck out by Duke.

Having BB and Allen eat up big minutes not only was not our best lineup over the stretch following DD going down as is obvious now in "hindsight" but I (and lots of others did too) mentioned it way back then too. It's a shame for BB too. Half the fan base thinks he absolutely sucks and the reality is that Keatts fucked the kid over by making him play the wrong role. He is playing the right role for the first time since his freshmen year and not doing half bad.

Look, it's possible to support Keatts and still think he fucked up royally with playing time this season.

Man that almost follow dunk by Moore would have been spectacular.

I have been very impressed with the team's movement and unselfishness in the half-court offense so far. The last couple of possessions have been pretty stagnant, but generally it's been good with a lot of patience for most of the second half.

Now it's time to make free throws. If we hit them, we might sneak away with a great win.

UVa doesn’t foul every single time their bigs hedge the screen at the top. But they do commit a foul on it multiple times/game. And it never gets called. Richard Howell would get called for that shit 2 times a game. But tendencies I guess

Huge win. Clutch FT shooting. UVa got hot and Moore’s turnover was definitely lemon booty time. But we kinda dominated this game. Only lost the lead briefly. And led by 4-8 points most of the game. Obviously it was close enough for concern throughout. But that was a pretty great performance. Got some help by UVa being cold to start. But they made up for that by catching fire late.

Does anybody know where to find +/- for college players? Haven’t been able to find it. I know it’s pretty easy to find for nba

Interesting stats there. Biggest standout to me was Shak Moore's BPM (5.2) good for 3rd on the team behind DD and Bates and his win share per 40 which is in the top 4 on the team. Seems to back up the eye test. The kid is gonna be a player. I'm glad to see his minutes--particularly in important situations are going up.

Also, Chase Graham's stellar offensive rating.

still an uphill climb for NCAAT, i think. but winnable games to closeout the season (pitt, @nd, vt) gives me some hope for the NCAAT. would kinda be nice if UNC became a Q1 win for us. UNC is 33 in NET, but that was before yesterday's loss. if they could get into top 30 then that becomes a Q1 win. and yeah, that miami L sucks big time.
