^LOL.

I love how they're the only ones who say they've been the pinnacle of cooperative. And they say it as if it's a fact...truth is, none of us know if the university was or was not cooperative with the investigation. We do know that the individuals named in the NOA (Blake, Wiley were named specifically...other names were obviously edited out) repeatedly misled investigators and lied to them.

Carrie Doyle: Good question, Cookie monster. The two main components in evaluating whether a relationship is ‘pre-existing’ or not are that the relationship can’t be based on athletics and has to pre-date the SA’s recruitment by the institution."

I said this months ago, before it became even a blip on the national radar other than 2-4 minutes pregame before they played LSU, that the honor court shenanigans were beyond disturbing if you value your degree. They had Kendric Burney and his father both admitting that Burney committed "mistakes" that were an honor court violation (He was held out 6 games from the NCAA and one from UNC while they expidited his case to the front of the line with the honor court). They ended up just taking back the credit for the class altogether I think. When you have the accused admitting to an honor court violation and he gets zero suspension, that's bad academically, let alone the football. Has nothing to do with paying recruits, funneling money from agents yada yada. An intentional violation of the honor code from an individual on scholarship and publicly admitting to it with no consequences was the point of no return that I saw publicly. Nothing since then has surprised me.

UNC's defense is that they were both "rogue" and therefore not part of the institution. So if they're uncooperative, hey, that's just two people who aren't associated with UNC being uncooperative.

In all honesty, aside from cases of severe academic fraud (like blatantly plagiarizing a published paper), receiving a failing grade for the class you were caught cheating is is typically the only punishment for first time offenders.

^^, Yea I mentioned on the previous page it'd get yanked real quick, can't believe it took 48 hours.

^^^^
Who knows, maybe the professor thought he could handle it in house without honor court? If it went to honor court and scholarship people were let off the hook with a failing grade, that's bad. And not that it matters, but I wonder if the students admitted to it, in a newspaper and formal interviews.

But receiving a failing grade for a football player can fuck up their academic standing. A lot of those dudes tip toe that eligible/not eligible line so a 0 can do some pretty serious damage to your GPA.

Heather Dinich still bringing the "pain" and lulz against UNCCHEAT. She gives her opinion on the relative hotness of the head coaching seat, 3.0 is the highest mark she gives to any coach in the ACC.

Tom O'Brien, NC State: 2.0

That was awesome. Every fan base should read that, especially this part:

Quote :
"The outcome of Butch Mess will have ZERO Effect on UNC “that guys”. Over-the-top obnoxiousness survives any scandal, any four straight (and counting) losses .... you name it. “That Guy” is going to keep on harassing his assigned Wolfpacker from beyond the grave.

“That Guys” are the Ninjas of The Carolina Way. Obnoxious jackasses completely impervious to any reality. If WolfNation measures “success” by putting “that guy” in his place it's too late - he’s already there. Imbedded in the epicenter of The Brickyard.

NOTE: There are Wolfpack “that guys” too but UNCers are oh so much more obnoxiously effective."

I know a lot of girls who went to UNC and are definitely "that guys". But they were also major jersey chasers in school.

And if most of their "That guys" are Wal-Mart fans, that doesn't say much about our "That Guys" who actually graduated from State.

Now listen, you can or can not feel this way about John Swofford, that's your right and in the sports world, as we all know, people sometimes can and do or do not feel in ways that we may or may not agree with. The real question that any thinking man, any scholar, any paragon of intelligence, any person of rational intellect, basically and essentially anyone besides a mouth-breathing, cro-magnon, idiotic, syphilitic, message board idiot would ask is whether you have enough evidence to justify that feeling. Without evidence, you can only be convicted in the court of public opinion and as I know and you know and the lovely and talented Maria knows and my producer who I address by his full name knows, the court of public opinion only matters in horseshoes and tiddlywinks. More insightful information after the break.

He tried to make the argument that Swafford had never commented on ongoing investigations, but the way he worded it and set it up it sounded like he was saying that he had never commented on an investigation of the UNC football team which made zero sense. This is the same commish that was strong worded the day after the FSU girls soccer team sat out the ACC tournament to prepare for NCAA tournament.

it's a feel-good measure. but it sure as hell aint a punishment. if they really wanted to punish the school, they'd make the school pay back all monies earned in bowl games and tv revenue and the like. make it an actual damned punishment.

bad news, then: your personal stuff is now public record. that's just how it is. Otherwise, no government employee would use their business phone for anything, so they could hide everything.

"I saw on WRAL this evening the new info about the parking tickets (someone already linked that N&O article above) and they said that Marvin Austin's information was not released by UNC yet because he wasn't part of the court ordered release. It'll be very interesting when his parking records, cars, etc get released."

god damn, what fucking scumbags. what in the fuck would make them NOT think his shit was also related? jesus, these guys are dicks in the 1st degree. I wish we had a damned AG who gave a shit about upholding the law in our governmental organizations

Quote :
"Wiley has lawyered up, refusing to talk to NCAA investigators about any of it."

at which point the NCAA should say "you are guilty as sin, we'll punish the fuck out of the program. thank you, have a nice day."

"Okay obviously a lot of us would love it if UNC received the Death Penalty, which isn't going to happen b/c that's only give out for repeat offenders, but what kind of penalties would make you satisfied with the NCAA's judgment?
"

only the death penalty. UNC clearly didn't give a fuck about the rules. It's a HUGE thing to have a damn agent ON THE STAFF, much less as #2 in command. Then they didn't fucking cooperate. And then there is evidence they were laundering money through tutors? really? throw the whole god damned LIBRARY at them.

Quote :
"truth is, none of us know if the university was or was not cooperative with the investigation."

the NCAA sure doesn't think they've been cooperative.

Quote :
"And not that it matters, but I wonder if the students admitted to it, in a newspaper and formal interviews. "

I also wonder if the university then ignored its academic calendars and helped said student out by putting him into a class well after the add date (*cough*special treatment*cough*)

So apparently Butch refuses to turn over his 216 area coded phone records and bank records to the NCAA.

I would at this point expect the NCAA to slap a show cause on his ass and UNC to let him go really soon. There's no way in fuck UNC doesn't get hammered at this point.

Only place I have seen this is on Packpride. I hope like hell it is true but I am a little doubtful. I imagine the NCAA has already seen those records (otherwise there would have been some mention in the NOA) however I am still WAITING FOR HIS FUCKING EMAILS TO BE SHOWN...

Things I am hoping the media is working on:
-Butch's emails why the hell have they not been seen yet?
-Unredacted NOA UNC cited FERPA but they seemingly redacted the names of some of their football staff in certain sections WTF (also the redactions seem to indicate multiple tutors...)? Butch very easily could have been named in the NOA but UNC may have redacted his name.
-216 number getting it released and understanding if the NCAA did or did not already have access to this info (and butch's bank info to determine Wiley's pay).

I can imagine UNC redacting Davis' name from the NOA. That would get called out instantly.

Seeing how UNC is doing everything to not release the 216 phone records I can't imagine they were forthcoming in releasing them to the NCAA. I'm sure they gave them the same story: Look no calls, I just didn't conduct ANY business over the phone.

Also wondering if the NCAA already looked into the vehicle plates/registration/parking/etc. issues.

Scoring to his magisty WaffleIron on packpride, butch has refused to release his 216 records and his bank records.

Obviously it will have to go to court to get those phone records because he used it as his work phone.
