I'm just curious what happened. I mean this was a rough year for sure, but the team fought and played hard to the end. I would understand this more if they just kinda gave up on Gott half way through the year.

So many rumors swirling.

One says that he was told he would potentially be a 2nd round pick by a coach he has a past relationship with so he might hire an agent to prove he's committed and get more workouts since he didn't get invited to the combine.

One says former AAU "friends" are telling him he should be in the pros and that he's not developing like he should at NC State. Saying he should just get paid and play his way to the NBA.

One says that Abu heard that our staff told some NBA reps that they didn't believe Abu was ready for the NBA. Obviously he wasn't too happy to hear this and wants to move on from Raleigh.

None of those 3 have anything to really do with Gott, and are more personal issues with Abu. Gott simply told the NBA coach the same thing 95% of us would tell them, that Abu clearly isn't ready for the NBA and needs more development. Gott wants good relationships with these coaches and he wants to do the best thing for his players, I'm not quite sure why that would be seen as a negative for speaking honestly.

Because there is a way to be honest and still sell your players to the NBA. It's pretty clear we have a unique problem here in Raleigh with the number of transfers and early declarations. It's not just a bunch of bad apples.

Apples and oranges. They didn't get here at the same time or with the same type of talent. I've been clear about my expectations for DD since day one and have criticized him where appropriate. This is a big year for him coming up.

What? He supposedly said he is strongly considering transferring or hiring an agent, so it at least says that he hasn't taken action on either of those options yet (well, I guess he could be talking with other schools, but he hasn't formally announced he's jetting).

I know Goodman can be a dick on twitter - especially to State fans - but he's very likely clued into what's going on. I wouldn't dismiss what he said because sometimes he likes to needle our thin-skinned fan base. All he said was that Abu had told ESPN (or maybe Abu's "handlers" told them) that he was considering transferring or going pro. There's no reason to doubt the validity of that tweet. With that said, Abu is obviously still very much on the team. It sounds like a fluid situation where no final decision has been made yet.
