"RALEIGH, N.C. — A former North Carolina football player has filed a lawsuit against the school and the NCAA, seeking reinstatement after being declared permanently ineligible for academic misconduct.

Defensive end Michael McAdoo is also seeking unspecified damages from the school and the NCAA, which the lawsuit accuses of "gross negligence" in ruling him ineligible based on inaccurate information. McAdoo's attorneys filed the lawsuit Friday in Durham County Superior Court.

McAdoo was one of seven players forced to sit out all of last season amid the NCAA's investigation into improper benefits and academic misconduct. The lawsuit seeks to compel chancellor Holden Thorp to reinstate McAdoo while also preventing the NCAA from interfering in the process. A hearing on that request is scheduled for July 15."

LOL at the idea that the NCAA is going to reverse their decision on permanent ineligibility

I'm picturing McAdoo as the Dude here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbIv7W7rhx4&feature=player_detailpage#t=4s

My guess is that McAdoo got wind of how much cash was being thrown around to keep others silent (Blake, Wiley, and probably countless others) and decided it was time to ring up the register for him as well.

Expect this to be settled very quietly out of court. The UNC powers that be can't risk him running his mouth.

he wants to play again. that's the whole point of this lawsuit...to try and find another course of redress for being deemed permanently ineligible. this isn't going to just go away

though it is great to see how "honorable" UNC actually is. the honor board found him guilty but decided that he should be allowed to stay for the football season in 2010 under probation, suspended him for the 2011 off-season, and reinstated him for the football season in 2011.

also, I thought UNC painted wiley as a rogue tutor who had been fired. according to this, she was a tutor up to the point at which she graduated. which is it?

What I think is hilarious right now is that IC has a UNC law alum (but deac undergrad) over there telling them this could be very bad for UNC--basically the NCAA will now probably have subpoena power over the tutor as she will most likely be called as a witness since she was McAdoo's tutor--and all those idiots over there are telling him he needs to go back to law school. He's trying to tell them the scope of what they can ask and those idiots honestly think she can only be asked questions about McAdoo.

they still don't understand that the NCAA does not operate under the rules of the constitution.

also, i would say this is UNC's worst nightmare, not the NCAA's.

What's funny too is that in order to dispute titledeac's reputability and claim that this is a bad situation, they have to discredit his education...as a UNC law alum

those threads are so full of delusions its not even funny. They seem to think that the NCAA is the culprit and they did nothing wrong. Well drop out of the NCAA, give back all your NCAA championships and form your own league, you can have USC, Ohio State, and SMU.

Last time lawyers got involved, Ramsey got reinstated. I'm not overly confident in the ability of the NCAA to hold up against UNC's lawyer squad. We'll see what happens, but anything that comes out of discovery should be considered gravy.

I'm getting tired of UNC fans saying, "well everyone else is doing it." That's a stupid argument. They're just mad that they got caught. It would be like a drug dealer getting arrested and charged, then complaining to the judge, well Steve, John, and Bob are doing the exact same thing too, why don't you arrest them. Because there isn't any evidence against them stupid.

Besides when have we ever heard about an assistant coach, particularly the associate head coach, be employed by an agent at the same time they were being employed by the school? When has there ever been players at other schools getting a tutor, that was fired by the school but then employed by the head coach, to pay off well over a thousand dollars in parking tickets and buy plane tickets for them?

The things that may actually be happening "everywhere" are hundred dollar handshakes from boosters, and summer jobs that over pay and don't require the student-athlete to show up. The only thing in the NOA that I see going on elsewhere is the agent improprieties, and their athletic department allowed an agent runner access to the facilities and the student-athletes.

I hope they get hammered, not b/c it would be just, but just to shut up their fucking fans.

what will happen and what can happen are two different things. I would think, if this actually continues and isn't settled, they would try to demonstrate a pattern of cheating to diminish her credibility further.

Yeah most of Walmart Nation is blaming the NCAA, they are so mean they turned the other way with Cam and Cecil and are out to get McAdoo for $110.00

The way the injunction request reads is that they know they are going to lose against the NCAA, but they want immunity for UNC to not have to forfeit wins if they continue using an ineligible player.

From an IC thread...
Quote :
"Dareus told the NCAA anything they wanted to hear to reduce his suspension. How else can anyone explain the two game suspension he received while everyone else who went to the "Miami Party" was treated much more severely or not at all? I would take any quote from Dareus with a grain of salt.

No agent would throw such an expensive and elaborate party to have only 4 or 5 guys in attendance. Why were there no more names mentioned who were at the "Miami Party"?

I think Dareus was "coached" to say what went on."

Holy douche brain! Yea, makes NO economic sense for an agent to host a party (at $5K-10K) of 4-5 first round picks when they're only going to get 10-15% of multimillion dollar contracts.

So those are the fees (determined by the respective leagues) for the player contract but this does not carry over to the endorsement contract.

so yea, maybe 10-15% is high, but probably close on endorsement deals.

Yes, because your "fix" to the problem being so easily defeated means you have control. Yep.

Maybe we should start making UNC aliases on ESPN and start posting about how it's embarrassing and we want Butch Davis gone. Then the actual Carolina fans will start to sway their opinion due to herd mentality.

there is some good shit on PP right now, a 176 page pdf with all of the details from McAdoo's NCAA hearings and it includes his African Studies paper

supposedly the only cheating there was having Wiley format his works cited for him, but some posterse have been copy/pasting parts of the paper into google and low and behold it turns out McAdoo just happened to not have written much of that paper at all.

I know when I was at State they had a complex system to detect plagiarism, am I supposed to believe they don't have that at UNC?

^^ I know about ten people that went through PW&D at UNC, and they are all doing something else now.

Also, UNC does honor system plagiarism prohibition. They mostly give out papers and take home exams and expect you to abide by the honor code, do the exam by yourself, and not cheat.

And they don't think it's strange at all that UNC-ers have the highest grades of just about any serious college in the nation... fuckin jokes.

i don't see how it is relevant to compare a liberal arts college with one that focuses mainly on agriculture and engineering. yes, historically they do way better in sports than State, but to claim they are academically superior is misguided, and i argue, uneducated. It's shit like that that makes people hate UNC more so than a school like Duke. Does that guy not realize that his own paper has had to sue UNC to get any kind of records out of them? This isn't NCSU fans on some hell bent fight to bring down UNC. And lol at the part where he says State is in the same class as Miami or Alabama when it comes violations.

"Do you people realize the following?

NC State is one of the cheatingest schools in the history of the NCAA? Do you people realize that NC State has been cited for 5, that’s FIVE Major infractions cases since the NCAA started keeping record, while Carolina has been cited for 1?

Do you realize that NC State is in the NCAA’s “Cheating Hall of Fame?” And has as many major infractions cases lodged against as Southern California, Miami and West Virginia? Don’t believe me? Check the cite below and scroll down, the Cheaters Hall of Fame list about halfway down, taken from the NCAA Infractions cite.

Do you realize that NC State, along with Miami, are two of the three cheatingest schools in the ACC, and that its five major infractions cases are just one behind Kentucky’s at six, just one behind Florida States at six, and just two behind Auburn’s at seven? And just three behind SMU’s at eight?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than Alabama?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than LSU?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than Ohio State?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than Florida?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than Mississippi?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than Arkansas?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than South Carolina?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than Klempsun?

Do you realize that NC State has been hit with more major infractions cases than Tennessee?
Do you realize that the NCAA cited NC State Basketball at or near the time of both of its NCAA basketball championships? Both in 1972 (cheating to get David Thompson) and 1983?

Go here for some fun!
http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/p/…-Most-Ever.aspx

Scroll about halfway down. Shows where NC State is in the Cheaters Hall of Fame.

Do you realize that the great Everett Case, to so-called “Father of the ACC,” got hammered by the NCAA for giving cash money to recruits? And they try to mention this guy in the same breath as Dean Smith?

Do you realize that in 1989, NC State got HAMMERED BY THE NCAA FOR LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL FOR IT’S ENTIRE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT, AND THAT NC STATE ACTUALLY ADMITTED TO LOIC FOR IT’S ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT?

Don’t believe me? Here’s the search site for the NCAA, and the list of major infractions leveled at the Cheatin’ Wolfpack.
