Sorry meant to clarify I have a 3gs with new bootrom and spirit. So i have to wait I guess. Just going to do a factory restore to 4.0 to sell it though. Getting 4 on Thursday.

yeah i can get a 4 in about a month so i'm not sure what to do. i guess until all the major apps are able to actually take advantage of ios4 then i'm not going to upgrade. i think i'm at 3.1.3 right now--damn thing was there when i got it unfortunately

right now (today), let's assume I:

1. try to restore to 3.1.3
2. try to run Spirit to jb

will I have problems? Is Apple going to force me to upgrade to iOS4?

I really want to get to an untethered jb and I've just been too busy/a bit sketchy to do it earlier

After a quick flight over from China via Hong Kong and Alaska, my package left Indianapolis at 6:00 pm today (Tuesday) but according to the e-mail I got from Apple it'll be here tomorrow (Wednesday).......believe that when I see it, as of right now it's still en route to wherever it's headed from Indianapolis

For anyone else who received the e-mail from Apple saying to ignore the Fedex delivery date that your phone would actually arrive on the 23rd, where is your package right now?

and somewhere ^^^^^ up there... I understand, from what El Nacho says, tht Spirit is a 3.1.3 jailbreak. Hencei personally plan to restore to 3.1.3 today and then re-jb using Spirit; tired of a tethered jailbreak.

I just did a restore through iTunes (there's my error?) and got iOS4

and yes, my hosts file was - to all appearances - properly modified. and Cydia said I had SHSH blobs on file for 3.1.2. and 3.1.3

anyway, then just said "fsck it, I'll use Pwnage Tool to jailbreak iOS4 and then unlock it when it's possible to do so later on"

thank god I don't have to visit the U.S. this summer

I got the email from Apple saying my phone would arrive today. According to FedEx it was in Memphis at 4:38am. Not sure that bodes well with them getting it out on a truck today in Raleigh, but we'll see. I know Memphis is their flight hub, but do they ever load the trucks twice in a day?

I tried like hell to restore my phone to 3.1.3 kept getting the 1015 error, and despite searching hi and low, haven't found a solution. I got a version of QuickPwn22 which didn't recognize the iPhone so it's like... what?

argh.... back to iOS 4 for the moment. Not liking it much.

btw, just as a followup. If you have been seeing no movement on your FedEx tracking data (like me), don't panic, as it seems that their tracking system is having issues today.

1) The screen really is amazing on this thing, videos online don't do it justice

2) Coming from a 3G this thing is crazy fast, everything is nearly instantaneous and the multitasking couldn't be smoother

3) It's harder to hold on to without the curved back, you really have to grip the edges or it slides out of your hand. For the same reason I'm also finding it a little harder to two thumb type on.

4) I hope it's just something not related to the phone but I keep losing signal and having a weak signal in places where it has always been full strength on my 3G. Like for example, right now I'm alternating between no service and one bar sitting in my den, it's always been full strength or right below it on my 3G

I've only made a handful of calls since I got it this morning, they all went through fine. I've had AT&T for years I had it several years while it was still Cingular, had every iPhone since the original, and I could count the number of dropped calls I've had on one hand so even a few dropped calls would be a lot more than normal. What I don't get is that I've always had full signal in my house now I'm alternating between one bar and no service. I thought that the external antenna would help out signal strength if anything.

So this is weird but i've realized I only get poor signal when the phone is next to my computer, take the computer away and full signal comes back. Never had this issue before on previous iPhones. My laptop is using wifi on the same 802.11n network as my phone.
