I don't know what that means exactly. Are you asking for a below the radar recruit that could have a big impact?

I think Jaylen Samuels would be my pick in that area.

I'll add Micah Till too. Gigantic TE that can split off the formation and run routes with seemingly great hands. He makes a couple really nice one handed catches in highlight videos.

http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/1368215.html

Scout's latest Top50 in NC. We got 15 of them.

Quote :
" NC State verbal Kentavius Street checks in at No. 7 on the list. The Greenville (NC) Rose defensive end picked the Wolfpack in December over offers from LSU, Miami, and Ole Miss among others.

Charlotte West Mecklenburg quarterback Jalan McClendon is the No. 9 prospect. One of the biggest risers in the state, McClendon picked the Wolfpack over the summer after considering offers from UNC, Florida State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech among others.

The Wolfpack had three other commitments make the top 20 of the rankings: Southern Durham wideout Maurice Trowell (No. 14), Burlington Cummings offensive tackle Will Richardson (No. 18), and High Point Central safety Germaine Pratt (No. 20).

Trowell and Pratt both committed to the Wolfpack in the summer, and Richardson committed this week, flipping his decision from Virginia to NC State.

Ten other Wolfpack commitments made the top 50 rankings: Wilmington Laney linebacker Coult Culler (No. 24), Charlotte Mallard Creek H-back Jaylen Samuels (No. 28), Durham Hillside safety Kalen McCain (No. 30), Wilson Hunt safety Dexter Wright (No. 31), Charlotte Independence center Tony Adams (No. 34), Charlotte Christian wideout Bo Hines (No. 36), Winston-Salem Parkland defensive tackle Deshaywn Middleton (No. 38), Oakboro West Stanly defensive lineman B.J. Hill (No. 40), Warsaw James Kenan tailback Marcelias Sutton (No. 42), and Davidson Day cornerback Mike Stevens (No. 50). "

If there are 41players in North Carolina better than Marcelias Sutton, the state is loaded this year.

Don't invest too much into rankings as they don't mean everything. Out of all of the offensive players we got this year im probably most excited about him as he has a lot of upside.

it really makes me sad to hear recruits repeating coach-speak like the naive 18 year olds they are.

although i guess it's better than saying "i got offers from a bunch of ACC teams and chose this one b/c the coaches were nicest to me".

so NSD....Pack coaches on twitter will be pretty insufferable

It does seem like they've put together a solid class. I don't follow football recruiting as closely as some of y'all do, but this staff does seem very enthusiastic and aggressive on the recruiting trail

At this point, I just hope we get all of our guys. Most of the big ones already have their LOI in -- Vincent, Street, Justin Jones -- but I'll feel better once McClendon has his in as well.

I'm not really sure we could add anyone to this year's class if we wanted to unless it was McKinney or another Juco. Our class is full unless someone decides to defect from our existing class, even if a 5* player wanted to switch commitments to us today, we couldn't accept it without cutting someone out of this year's class.

^^ It's not likely that every single one of them qualifies. They could also greyshirt.

Scout.com profile now shows him committed to us. Wonder who we plan on losing/not qualifying/greyshirting? Both kickers already greyshirting, so should be interesting to see how this plays out.

"Here's the deal....Moore is the kid we've been talking about since yesterday. He flipped from Indiana to NC State. However, I don't think he will show up on the LOI list today. It's kind of a complicated situation where I don't know all the details. With that said, the expectation is he will be at NC State in August. We will pass along more and should have a story shortly."

do you think Jaylen Samuels is the potential greyshirt since they announced him as "already admitted" instead of signed loi (twitter). he was announced as already admitted along with a preferred walkon after they re-introduced the early enrollees and before they started live tweeting the NLI as they rolled in.

Guessing McKinney is a partial qualifier, thus couldn't go to Louisville and had to go to ECU, but that's just my guess.

^^^ I haven't heard that mentioned at all.

The long-winded "it's complicated" explanation from Steve would lead me to believe that the staff may be expected some defection after the Spring semester for grades or otherwise.

Speculation that Moore is going to be a preferred walk-on the first semester and then be put on scholarship after that, so he'll count towards next year's scholarship numbers. The class next year is going to be pretty small barring some attrition.

I was under the impression that the kickers, if greyshirting, would not sign NLI. Twiitter/Scout/Rivals all report them as signed

From packpride:

Found this on a Tennessee blog:

There are some strategies that teams can use to manage overflowing classes:
Gray-shirting:
A grayshirt agrees to delay his enrollment for at least one semester to count against the following year’s class.
In this case, a prospect would agree to push back enrollment from the summer of 2014 to January 2015. Grayshirting can be a great solution for a player who is rehabilitating a serious injury or who needs time to mature physically. But the player must be self-motivated, working out on his own and paying his own way to take classes for a semester.
Blue-shirting:
This scheme was originated by New Mexico State but has not been practiced widely around the nation. Here’s how it works: Officially, a player arrives in the summer as a walk-on. Once football practice begins, he’s awarded a scholarship. The school is allowed to count the scholarship forward — against the 2015 class — but the player can play immediately.
There’s a big catch: The student-athlete may not have been recruited, as defined by NCAA bylaws. That means no official visit to campus, no in-home visits from coaches, no signed National Letter of Intent or athletic aid.

The kickers will grey shirt and Moore will blue shirt

This might be common knowledge, but I didn't know recruit Troy Vincent is son of THE Troy Vincent -- one of the best CBs in the league in the early 2000s and current president of the NFLPA.

That's pretty cool.
