I will admit, I had given up. It seems like the Cards have really not had timely htting this series. I mean, they had 1st and 3rd tonight with no outs and almost didn't score. Last night all they needed was a flyball in the 9th, and they could barely make contact. But wow, is this ever a momentum shifter. Go Cards! 10/18/2005 12:02:26 AM |

pujols was 0-4
i knew he had something in the tank
i really expected him to bloop it into the crawford box just as a sort of balance
but fucking hell, if that had been an open air stadium, the ball would have rolled like another 200 feet 10/18/2005 12:04:09 AM |

also, i'll give that hr to al as better than gibsons if the cards pull it out.

you are FUCKING KIDDING ME
this, folks, is why you NEVER leave a sporting event early
I turned it off when Reggie struck out with runners at the corners, then turned back on a few minutes later. Then, when we were down to our final three outs, I struggled with whether or not I could watch. Lidge struck out Rodriguez, and I turned it off. But I couldn't deal with it so I turned back on just in time to see Mabry strike out, at which point I turned it off for good. And then I wake up to this shit.
And now I have to live the rest of my life knowing I missed Pujols' fucking home run. 10/18/2005 12:09:42 PM |

You missed the #1 moment the Cardinals have had in my lifetime. That beat the Grand Slam Renteria hit in the 9th to beat the Cubs when they were down like 7 runs. 10/18/2005 12:29:22 PM |

holy shit
Quote : | "In his first season, Albert hit better than .500 with 11 home runs. Fort Osage coach David Fry couldn’t believe his good fortune. The teenager was the hardest worker—and swinger—on the team. He remembers one mammoth shot Albert launched at Liberty High School that landed on top of a 25-foot high air conditioning unit some 450 feet from home plate" |
from http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Pujols/Pujols_bio.html
OH COME ON
Quote : | "When Albert arrived at Maple Woods, his top priority was raising his stock in the upcoming draft. Landon Brandes, one of the club's top hitters at the time, will never forget the freshman’s first batting practice session. With everyone else on the team swinging aluminum bats, Albert stepped to the plate with a wood model, then blasted several moon shots that outdistanced every other ball hit that day.
In his 1999 regular season debut for Maple Woods, Albert was even more impressive. Starting at shortstop, he smashed a grand slam and turned an unassisted triple play. He wound up batting .461 for the year, with 22 home runs and 80 RBIs." |
I knew this guy was a natural, but thats fucking insane

I can't stop thinking about that game. I'm a huge Pats fan, and I thought that Adam Vinatieri's game winning kick against the Rams would be my most memorable sports moment ever, but now I don't know. That was so huge, so clutch. I really hope we can win two games at Busch and go win the big one this year. 10/18/2005 1:43:32 PM |

how many other teams can say they won 100 games in consecutive seasons?
we're probably the best team in baseball....argue that with me (without simply saying "you can't be the best, you got beat the past two postseasons) 10/19/2005 11:38:56 PM |

oh i agree 100% that they were the best in 05
last year its a toss up between them and boston
and i think the playoffs are gimmicky anyways
its a completely different game than the regular season
the format works perfectly for a team like houston with a weak offense and three killer starters 10/19/2005 11:43:38 PM |

Playoffs are all about who is hot....and the Cards were NOT hot. Sucks that this could happen 2 years in a row, but its kinda expected since we didnt have to win a game for the last month of the season. 10/19/2005 11:45:40 PM |
