^ thanks. All were tight games in that parlay. White Sox won late, Dodgers held on to a 3-0 lead, Twins won in extra innings on a walk-off and the Red Sox won late.

I was gonna throw some money on the favorites in soccer, but you don't win shit unless you throw down a lot, and I don't know enough about soccer to throw down much on the "sure" bets.

Well, here's the thing about "sure bets".....there are none. NONE.

Every now and then I will unload on a heavy favorite, trying to make a quick hit. Most of the time, it works. But when it doesn't, it really sucks.

Its been about 4 or 5 years ago. I was betting bigger back then and I had also won a $3,000 parlay ($3,500 total for the day) recently. I took half of that money out and played with the other half.

Anyway, one bet I made. I figured I'd make a quick $100 with the Yankees. They were playing the Devil Rays, who sucked and hadn't been in the league long at all. $360 to win $100.
Of course I lost, or I wouldn't be telling the story. Lesson learned is that the payout just wan't worth the risk.

Not sure how anyone can watch hockey, esp. with no money on it. I think Edm.'s best shot is tonight though.

Thinking about taking Edmonton tonite...fairly even money (-110) and if they lose, then taking Canes in game 4 with enough on it to make money overall. Not sure yet, but I'll prob. be on Edm. tonight for a small play.

Nah, I didn't do it already, but one of my buddies bets during games all the time. For instance, five minutes from the end of the game they'll give new odds on whether the trailing side will score.

Ok, I've got those 5 teams I listed on one parlay. TX/BOS has been delayed the whole time. Heres my question...

They are scheduled to play 2 today. Will they just keep trying to play Game 1 all day? Or will they postpone it and try to play Game 2?
Just not sure how it works with gambling, b/c they might play "game 2" with the same pitchers, but then my bet is a no-play.

Really need the Nat's to hold on to this 1-run lead late.

Race started and Jazil was dead last. Gradually most everyone was close to the front and then a horse came from the outside. It was Jazil. Hell yeah. He was neck and neck with one other and broke away to win.

JMPack, good luck with your parlay. I want to take Miami so bad, b/c I know Riley will make some adjustments and they do have Wade and Shaq.

I just don't think I can do it. I think the west is way superior to east. Dallas just seems way better.

They won by 10 and Dirk and Stackhouse did very little offensively. That is one reason I could see it going Over....with Dallas shooting one of those "lights out" games at home.

I may take Dallas -4, but will prob. stick to the ML again. Maybe a small play on Under.

No play yet, but prob. big play on Dallas ML.

Anyone have any ideas as to why the line dropped from +/-5 in game one to +/-4.5 in game 2? Even though the Mavs won by 10? Is it because they think Wade is not as sick? Also the O/U dropped from 194 to 189, which I can understand that line moving down. They were WAY over in the first game.

Apex, not sure what your asking. I think the line is pretty much right on. People don't know if Heat will make enough adjustments to cover/win or if Dallas is clearly better.
I posted about Dirk/Stack not playing well. They could easily bounce back...or not.
Also, Heat shot awful from the line, and that includes getting to the line. Only Shaq and Wade got to line at all.

I'd love to have Heat +7 and I'd love to have Mavs -3, so I think anywhere around 4-5 is a good line for vegas.

Luckily, I did a 2-team parlay on Pitt/Fla. right before the game. I got nervous about SF and sort of hedged, although dangerous. Looks like Fla will win, so I'd still like to have SF win, but it won't kill me if they lose.
Put $10 to win $75. Would much rather have the $160 brought back to my acct if SF wins.
SF had bases loaded, 1 out, and hit into double play. Real nice.

Man, am I ever glad I took that hedge parlay. Been a really weird day gambling, and just trying to stay close to what i started with. A couple parlays started out good, then lost. "Wasted" money here and there on parlays, soccer longshots....but that "wasted" money saved me in the hedge parlay...

Won on Seattle and Mexico (but still need Brazil Tuesday). Put Cubs and Mets in a couple parlays but won no money on them. Yankees blow a late lead. Giants give up 5 in the 8th on my huge bet of the last month.

Put $20 on Italy.

So, right now, if Italy and Brazil both win, I'd lose about $15 for the day. (2 heavy fav's). And would still have had a great weekend.

4.5 is a HUGE difference compared to 5

Its basically a whole point when you think about it. if you had Mavs -5 you needed them to win by 6. Now with Mavs -4.5 you just need them to win by 5...


I wish the hockey lines had half points in them, would make it a lot better to bet on..

Well.....1/2 point is SLIGHT in basketball. It can come into play at times but its not a drastic change. Remember, if you have 5, you can still PUSH.
I do see what your saying, but its not major at all.

Now, in hockey, yeah...it would be ENORMOUS.

Not trying to argue, but I don't see much difference. I'm sure if you looked at several sites today, it would have fluctuated anywhere from 4 to 6, mostly being 4 1/2 to 5 1/2.
