I sorta like how different this album is from the older stuff by The Brunettes. They're not ridiculously cutesy anymore (aside from "If You Were Alien"), which isn't a bad thing, really, since they've taken time to flesh out their songs a little more. They're not the same quirky little band of old, for better or worse.

And Jens Lekman's new album is good, though I'm not officially in love with it yet.

Just completed Akron/Family and while it's nothing groundbreaking (I don't actually care for the folk-rock/freak-folk genre) I enjoyed most of the album especially the straight out guitar-led choruses (There's So Many Colors particularly).

i've read it tries too hard to be mainstream, and the two magazine 4+ star reviews i've read are pretty mainstream so that would explain that
