word is he's been timed at their camp at 4.7-4.8 in the 40. obviously, this doens't translate to in pads, on the field running routes speed, but apparently the Cocks want him to get his speed down before he commits

^he's also being recruited to Navy, so it's a logical assumption he's a standup, no BS kid

I expect Haynes will be one of our next commits. It certainly sounds like we are going to offer. Probably just putting together a financial aid package to send to him with a written offer and forms to fill out. The coaches also might be figuring out with the recruiting coordinator when they can schedule him for an official visit. All players get 5 official visits. These visits are paid fully paid for by the university. Even guys getting recruited for the swim team get these kinds of visits. I have a co-worker that was recruited by UVA, Michigan, UGA, and a few other schools to swim (he ended up going to UGA). He said the experiences were all pretty posh and fun, which was pretty surprising for just having a guy come swim at your school. I can see it for a basketball/football player b/c they bring in a lot of money to the athletics department, but not a swimmer.

Hey aph Travis Bond is now a 4* prospect and rated the #15 OT in the nation by Scout. It'd be sweet to get the #15 and #1 (Nixon) offensive tackles in the nation.

I hope we can also get Terry Shankle (there is word going around that the staff is recruiting him to be a WR), Zach Greene (a blazingly fast legacy recruit; ran a 4.35 at the Shrine Bowl combine last year), and Rashard Smith (an underrated guy that is an exceptional athlete; he seems to really like State).

Holmes’s friend and teammate, athlete Stephon Gilmore (6-2, 195), also attended the camp, and “He told me South Carolina and Alabama are his top two,” Holmes said.

Marlboro County wide receiver Kinsman Thomas (6-3, 195) hoped to commit at USC’s camp but the Gamecocks want to see a little better speed from him before taking a commitment. “They said they wanted me to wait (to commit) until my forty time came down,” Thomas said. Thomas said USC remains his favorite.

Mack’s teammate, athlete Davis Sims (6-0, 215), plans three of his official visits for Michigan, Oregon and N.C. State. USC and Tennessee also are factors.

Several Greenwood High prospects visited USC Friday including defensive back D.J. Swearinger (6-0, 200). He has been favoring Tennessee and North Carolina and has narrowed his list to the Vols, Tar Heels and Gamecocks.

Defensive lineman Josh Elizondo (6-2, 270) of Naples, Fla., says he’ll set up official visits with USC, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Florida State and Duke for the fall.

Defensive back Terry Shankle (6-0, 170) of Norwood, N.C., has cut his list to Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State, Florida and Alabama with no favorite. He feels the Tar Heels and Alabama are making the strongest push.

Offensive lineman Xavier Nixon (6-7, 274) of Fayetteville, N.C., is looking at Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State and LSU for four of his official visits. He also has Clemson and USC, on his favorites list.

Southeast junior LB receives first offer from N.C. State

Raleigh, N.C. — Southeast Raleigh head football coach Daniel Finn confirmed for WRAL Friday evening that rising junior linebacker Kendall Moore had received an offer from the N.C. State Wolfpack.

According to a report on Rivals.com, the offer is a verbal offer, and Wolfpack defensive coordinator Mike Archer told Moore that he will have the offer in writing by September.

Moore comes in at 6-foot-3, 230-pounds, and he recorded a 4.68 forty time in his last combine appearance.

"He has a great package with size, speed and strength," Finn said. "He has a tremendous upside with 2 more years to develop in strength and speed. He is tough to block when he rushes off the edge."

Last season, Moore recorded 110 tackles and one interception. The interception was returned 35 yards for a touchdown, and he also forced two fumbles.

N.C. State is the only offer Moore has right now, but it isn't the only school trying to make contact with him. In the Rivals.com report, Moore said that he has talked a lot to North Carolina and Maryland.

Former teammate Demetrius Hartsfield will play football at Maryland in the fall. Hartsfield was a member of Southeast Raleigh's Class of 2008. Finn told WRAL that Moore will visit Maryland on Wednesday.

"I am sure he will have more offers soon," Finn added. "He is very excited and I know his parents would love to see him play close to home."

Moore told Rivals.com that location isn't a big factor, but admitted he would like his parents to be able to watch him play.

we need to make sure to get a good start on NC recruiting in 2010. UNC has done well getting in-state talent to commit this year so we need to repeat the 2008 class success next year. crisp, creecy, and moore would be an amazing haul.

I know we're really good with Creecy and Crisp likes us too but in reality, good shape means nothing if you can't land them on signing day. I'm all for positive talk but I want some commitments and until then, I remain skeptical.

Ok so say we get Dean Haynes at CB. Then we get Zach Greene and Rashard Smith. I say we put Greene at slot back and KR/PR. He's got 4.35 speed and might be a little undersized to play CB in college. I'd rather keep Smith at CB b/c I think he could be end up being a more physical CB. I also hope we get Terry Shankle, but I'd like to move him to safety or WR. Then get David Sims to finish out our DB recruiting.

Three freshmen failed to qualify so that will open some scholarships for the time being. JC transfers that didn't make the grades could increase that amount as well.

Yes prep schoolers still have 5 years to play 4 since they weren't playing on the college level.

I think we got a good pickup in Cunningham. Besides Vanderbilt he was being heavily recruited by Texas A&M, Colorado, Rutgers and Kansas State, but b/c he had to wait to take his SAT he wasn't offered. In the New Jersey North-South All-Star game Cunningham had three catches for 102 yards and a touchdown and was named the North's offensive MVP.

Tobias Palmer is heading to JuCo so the earliest he can come to State is January of 2010. I think he's going to the same school as Roy Mangram (correct me if I'm wrong). Here's to him getting everything in order and recommiting to State when he's eligible.

It also looks like Hawatha Bell is going to take an Official Visit here. This would be an amazing pickup due to our lack of depth at LB and our less than stellar in-state haul so far. I'm pretty surprised because I thought he had very little interest in us.

Although I know this is NC State and God hates us, I'm holding out hope that he is finally going to take pity on us poor souls and finally forget about how past figures treated Valvano. With O'Brien bringing back one of Valvano's friends in Dick Sheridan we were able to beat UNC for the first time in 3 years, we had a great first true TOB class, so I'm hoping that everything is about to come together and our long wait for success will soon be over.
