IF we end up with JT, then we will all be pulling for him despite the dancing thing... we have to just wait and see. You can't deny that the guy is one hell of an athelete, but I thought he was a LB.. oh well..

I question how the writers of this article are so sure that neither McClover or Johnson are going to be DEs worth playing opposite Peppers... seems they are pulling for the panthers to sign JT a little bit too hard to me

ESPN doubts our RB duo while touting Seattle's.....

We wear that underdog tag so well don't we?

I will wear the underdog title with no problem. I think it will be a good year for the Panthers. Not that I believe we will get JT, but if it is possible and does happen, I think that propels our defense to a top tier defense, especially the DL. I just want someone to help JP from getting taken care of like he did last season.

I'm split on Taylor. On one hand, he'd instantly upgrade our D-Line, and our entire defensive unit. Who gives a shit about some dance show, the guy is a highly-productive, high-character guy. This defense could use some more leaders now that Rucker is gone.

But at some point, we've got to see if we'll get anything out of McClover and Johnson. While neither is on Taylor's level, they could be servicable if given the chance.

^^^pls to post.

also, @ the other d end spot, don't forget about brayton. He was a high draft pick a few years back who showed promise until the raiders started moving him around. I think he's running with the starting unit as of now.

I doubt it, I bet we will pick up a few more through till the end of training camp. Although I hope we don't have to pick up any due to injuries from training camp and pre-season.

http://www.bleacherreport.com/articles/27812-Top-NFL-Impact-Rookies-Ranking-From-1-To-100-060608

1) Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina
Durability was a concern, until Carolina, whose team doctor performed Stewart’s latest surgery, made him its first choice. Alongside DeAngelo Williams, the Panthers should finally have the ideal dual-running back situation that they have been pursuing for many years. Stewart is the most likely rookie back to top 1,000 yards. There are no Adrian Peterson’s or Patrick Willis’ in this draft, but the rookie class is very deep, and Stewart and Mayo are the best of the bunch.

17. Jeff Otah, OL, Carolina

18. Dan Connor, LB, Carolina

39. Charles Godfrey, CB, Carolina

61. Gary Barnidge, TE, Carolina

I am like Smittys attitude. He seems very excited, laid back and is speaking about the learning he was able to do from last years dismal season. I bet Vinny did teach him alot. I am ready for the season.

Smith is smarter than your average athlete. He's interning with a firm that we work with and he's been it on some meetings we've had with them.

Usually ends up killing any productivity because people are star struck by him...he's cool dude tho.

its pretty funny to hear about a multi-millionaire professional athlete who is an intern somewhere

but gg to Smitty for realizing what many athletes don't

Jarrett changed his plea to guilty in the DWI case. Not looking like there will be a suspension, but its still a possibility.

I hope its a joke, honestly if Favre comes back, I would like to see him in ATL. I think ESPN NFL Live was talking about the idea...let him finish where he started...could be interesting lol.

Did ESPN discuss how much money they are bleeding into Matt Ryan?

Sometimes I wonder if they even question the first thought that comes into their head.

Q&A with Terrence Holt

The Carolina Panthers will open training camp July25. To get you ready, Observer staff writers David Scott and Stan Olson have asked some of the players to answer a few fun questions. Today's subject is safety Terrence Holt:

Q. Who was a key mentor or motivator in your life?

Mom and brother (St. Louis Rams receiver Torry Holt).

Q. What's your favorite hobby away from football?

Bowling. It's you versus the pins. Opponent doesn't matter.

Q. What are you afraid of?

God.

Q. What television show won't you miss or always record?

“Hell's Kitchen.” “Wife Swap.” HGTV's “House Hunters.”

Q. What's your guilty pleasure?

Being lazy.

Q. What's your favorite vacation spot?

Loews Miami Beach.

Q. What other position would you love to play?

Quarterback.

Q. What's your ideal post-football career?

Commercial and residential real estate.

Q. Who was your sports hero growing up?

Walter Payton, because he was so sweet on the field.

Q. What did you buy with your first NFL paycheck?

A house.

yeah....I heard he put back all the weight he lost last year then some. but if we don't have someone on the other end taking pressure off him it's gonna be tough.

I'd still like to see us make a run @ taylor...not overpay, just make an attempt.

anybody else beside me is concerned about the 3 top draft picks not being signed and training camp is a week away? All 3 are probably starters too.

I'm not really worried about Stewart not signing yet...but for Otah (sp??) yeah, I think it is a worry. Considering our O-line has been remade, revamped, and repositioned, he needs to be in there so the O-line can be cohesive and get ready to make some holes.

it's been the norm for the panthers to sign rookies in the week before training camp. I'll be worried when it gets to be the second week of camp wothout them there.

beason held out last year until the second week of august and look how he turned out.

I still contend that Biaka's knee injury was mainly due to his missing all of preseason.

If we draft E.George that year I think we could have possibly beaten the Packers....

a second and a sixth for Taylor.....We already took the first step in mortgaging away our 2009 draft, I would've been happy if we just went the rest of the way and picked up taylor....that would've sured up one of our two major question marks going into the season.

According to the Herald, a deal has been finalized with 3rd round pick Charles Godfrey. The link says his agent has confirmed a deal has been completed.

(Also says Schwartz, 7th round OT from Oregon, is supposed to sign no later then Tuesday)
