Why don't the Penguins hit?

The Penguins can have a physical element if they want to, and they're not using it.

Why don't the Penguins pester Osgood?

I just don't understand.

The Penguins are high flyers, but they can't fly higher than the Wings and they're not trying anything different. Yes, I know they're getting odd-man chances and an occasional break, but more often than not the headman pass hits a guy who'll be double covered by the time he hits the blue line. If Crosby makes the breakout pass, then the forward pairing for the two-on-one is practically worthless. Malkin made an absolutely gorgeous pass just behind the D late in the first last night, but nothing came from it because his target man was Pascal fucking Dupuis.

This series makes me not like the way that refs let alot go in the post season.
It may just be me but as i watch the way the 2 teams play it seems that the red wings have
a huge advantage b/c of there style of play.
The red wings are a team that passes out situations for offense and just hit the shit out of you for defense.
While the pens want to puck handle alot more, and play positional defense.

So while i watch the game i notice that alot of the pens passes are to a position where the guy should be but is not b/c he got hit off the play. Also the pens always have problems handling the puck with all the free hands on there sticks. It amazes me sometimes how much free hands, and parallel sticks, have been used and how the new rules designed to bring more stick handling into the game have been totally ignored. which to me is a shame to bring a great team like the pens in the normal season to there knees (not to say that the red wings are in any way not a great team either, they seem to be out playing the pens in the first 2 games.) but really this should be much more of a series than it is.

Also fuck the saying "refs dont want to decide the game" that is shit cuz they are by NOT calling just as much as calling penalties.

no it shouldnt, the pens were in the east and thats why they looked so good.

barring the 13 game stretch without lindstrom, kronwall and zetterberg, the wings would have set the points record again in the regular season

just because a team "can't" hit, doesnt mean that you can hit "them"... and anyways thats retarded because the wings 'can' hit. (see... kronwall, mccarty, drake, lilja, holmstrom, franzen, even datsyuk <-- maybe not heavy hits, but he does lead the team in overall checks)

The point is that the Wings are making efficient passes out of their own zone and in transition because the Penguins are trying to play the same game they've played all year instead of adapting to what will work against the Wings. The Pens' sole GWG of the series came from banging and the corner and working the puck into the area around the net, but they're not trying that on a consistent basis. There's no pressure on the first pass, and once the Wings have broken out it's much harder to stop them.
