Pregnancy has been the go-to plot twist for the past season.

re: loyal fans (on cell phone too much trouble to copy paste):

I AM a loyal fan. I too have watched it since day one. I've seen every ep. I love the show. I really liked last night's ep. it still makes me laugh, which many shows don't do.

I still like it & i'm not complaining abt it.

If you don't like reading negative posts about The Office, why take the time to respond to them?

Just post somewhere else.

I thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1-3 and ever since then my interest in the show has been declining. The last arc that i really enjoyed was back when Ryan was on top of the paper world in season 4.

One of the things that bugs me is when they bring back characters that have been killed off. I really wasn't expecting to see Ryan, Toby, or Holly return to the show after their proper deaths and ever since then they all feel half-assed. They seem to just take up space now.

I would like to see them wrap up the series before it goes downhill even more. Jim has lost all of his charm, Pam isn't intriguing anymore, Creed has been getting way too high of a profile, and I don't even know where to begin with Michael's character.

Michael hired him for the Michael Scott Paper Co., then then DM bought out MSPC they re-hired Michael, Pam and Ryan"

And then Michael could only keep either Ryan or Pam on and he picked Pam. So again, why was Ryan suddenly back with the company at the picnic?

Maybe we should start a new Office thread for people who just want to compain about every episode? Stop trying to analyze every little thing and just enjoy the show. If you can't enjoy that, don't watch it, no matter how many seasons you've been a fan.

I don't mind that Holly and Toby are back. Holly is still employed by Dunder Mifflin and still relevant to Michael. Toby stopped being relevant when he went to Costa Rica, but I've enjoyed his character more than others.

Ryan I could do without. He was funny as an innocent temp getting stepped on and as an asshole in upper management. However, now that he's outed as a jerk, and no one likes him, I don't care when stuff happens to him.

exactly.

the show isn't great, but it definitely is still good. nothing stays on top of its game for longer than two seasons.

Well the ratings to most every show eventually slump and the show gets canceled. Every show will eventually be on the other side of the popularity curve. Shows might end up on the wrong side of the popularity curve because people aren't finding it as entertaining as they were in the past. Maybe there's something to that process.

Anything is better than the should-be-dead now you're just ruining your legacy shows like the Simpsons.

^^of course no one prefers this to occur but its a natural phase in the evolution of any show, which is why no show lasts forever. Gradually as the show continues over time the bucket of creativity will slowly empty while, simultaneously, the viewing audience will come to expect greater from the staff that they would have initially. Ideas, concepts and plot developments over which the audience would have at one point vociferously rejoiced will appear as old hat to them. One can protect in some ways against the former, but can in no one deter the inevitability of the latter.

While the enlightened commentary on program development, or, rather, lack there of, is no doubt extraordinary based on the many years spent both writing and producing television please humor the rest of us humble simple laymens who prefer to just watch the show and take it for what it is, a good show which has crossed the cusp in the cycle of development that includes the begin and end of a series.

Shows need to create fans in order to continue, which is why first seasons are always so great. Writers tend to pump their best material into a first season and then coast off of popularity (ie: Heroes)
