I can't get past the lead singer's voice.

Singers who appear androgynous, but sing like men = perfectly okay.

Singers who sing adrogynously, but look like men = unexpected and strange.

Don't ask me to explain further.

I don't mind girly voices so much. It's voices like that of the Decemberists singer that piss me off.

i don't see how you complain against the dudes voice when they put out such an awesome song in "sleepy head"

^ Because his voice is part of the song?

That, and it sounds like Mickey Mouse being raped.

i really liked their ep, but his voice does get super fucking annoying on the full-length.

lo-fi, psychedelic, mostly instrumental... the songs don't really go anywhere but i'm digging it

oh, and the new Bowerbirds leaked, but i'm not gonna post that here. it's good though

just found another good link, another lo-fi jam, this one has some pretty fucking catchy songs on it though

Not music of 2009, but I just got a hell of a deal on some vinyl.

Holy fuck. (example --- 5 first print Beatles albums... woman asked me for $1 a piece for them... every 45 the Beach Boys and Beatles released b/t 62 and 68 (about 30 of 'em)... gave her $10 for those... WTF?)

^^black swan is definitely the least accessible song on the album. i could see it being one of those spencer songs that grows on me over time - i felt the same way about "an animal in you care" on at mount zoomer, but now that is one of my fav. tracks on that album.

Jupiter One new album release date just announced (as in... the band themselves just found out this afternoon)... August 25th. Long way off and I'm probably the only one on this site that follows them, but whatever, just got back from seeing them live so I'll post it anyway.

For those slightly interested, they'll be at Jack Sprat Cafe in Chapel Hill tomorrow night. I highly recommend them, amazing band. And they're cool people to chat with after a show.

I agree. The "live" vibe the album gives off is fantastic. Especially the guitar playing. Can't wait to see them again next month.

I would, but it would be disservice to all mankind.

I'll let someone who thinks it's worthy of hearing post it.

Check the blogs, though, it's errywhere.

Just downloaded Dave Matthew's Band's new album - Big Whiskey and the Goo Grux King. After the first run through, there are 3-4 standout tracks. Not sure it is their best album to date, which was said by some reviewers. Definitely better than Stand Up, but I think some of their earlier albums are better. Of course this is just an initial impression. It'll take plenty more listens for the songs to grow on me.

just picked up an album that came out last year. people might have talked about it on here or not i don't remember, but I hadnt heard of this band somehow (despite loving both bands they came from). The band is Able Baker Fox, featuring the lead guitar/vocalist from The Casket Lottery and members of Small Brown Bike. Album is called "voices." Really good stuff if you enjoyed either of those 2 bands. I've been rocking this since I woke up.

oh, that also reminds me, the singer of the casket lottery and able baker fox is the current bass player for Coalesce as well and their new album is awesome. any old fans of them, definitely check that out as well.

i have 2 items...

1) He is Legend has put up 2 new songs on their myspace. I am not a fan of these songs.
3) the new 311 album is absolutely horrendous.
