for page 17, i'll add that http://www.kmacpantherweekly.blogspot.com will be updated pretty regularly now that camp has begun, so if you all want to follow it and get updates it's pretty easy to do.

the blog was started in the offseason for news & notes, and during the regular season i publish the KMAC Panther Weekly (which some on here already receive). If you want to get on the listserve for Thursday releases, just send your email address to kmacpantherweekly@gmail.com and i'll put you on it.

Kemo+a pick for Shaun Rogers?

Stolen from carolinahuddle:
Hello Mutha, Hello Fatha,
Camp is over, why'd I even botha.
Shoulda stayed home, in my recliner,
Eatin' ice cream watching reruns of Mel's Diner.

Tore my achilles, in the first half hour,
Didn't even, take a shower.
The guys were laughing, thought I was fakin',
But I tore the tendon like a piece of bacon.

Now it's back home, to live in the basement,
Don't even know the name, of my replacement.

Does his salary still count against the cap if he's put on IR?

omfg our offense better be able to outgun opponents this year.

Maybe we can pull a TOB and convert some O-linemen to D-line?

Oh shit this will give Meeks an excuse to bring in some undersized DTs, the way he ran his D in Indy.

Not good, not good at all.

We don't have any depth on o-line either.

Let's face it, Kemo was a ticking time bomb. He was fat and out of shape last year, and by all accounts he showed up to camp in just as bad or worse shape. He was going to sustain a serious injury like this sooner or later, and better it happen now when we have time to patch something together than in the middle of the season. Our linebackers and safeties will just have to step it up in the run game.

if they step it up like they did in the NY game last year, we're in trouble.

it sounds cliche as a motherfucker, but if this injury had to happen, its better to happen this early in training camp, and not during the 4th preseason game, for example

That's what I've been saying. No doubt it sucks, but like Nate Irving's injury, the timing was good.

We can skim through FA DT's and take close looks at guys who get cut. I can almost guarantee there will be an above average DT that gets cut because of a high salary. Hopefully we can clear up some space to sign him.

thats what I'm worried about....already maxed out cap wise. Unless they get alot of relief from putting kemo on the IR, another team would almost certainly be able to offer a good FA more than we could.

"FREE AGENCY: Jackson in the fold?
The injury to defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu has the Panthers seeking line help, but they may have found help in former Falcons and Chiefs tackle T.J. Jackson, reports Darin Grant of The Herald in Rock Hill, S.C.
Kemoeatu is scheduled to have surgery today, and may miss the entire season.
Jackson could sign as early as today, but the team's depth chart suggests that Nick Hayden and/or Corey Irvin will likely see most of the playting time next to Damione Lewis in the middle of the Carolina D-line."

Jackson is a relatively young DT at 25 who hardly resembles a typical Meeks DT (6'0", 304 lbs).
He could grow into a longer term bench DT for us as the potential for improvement certainly exists...

Steve Smith injured in evening practice

http://blogs.charlotte.com/
Quote :
"Panthers receiver Steve Smith suffered what appears to be either an arm or shoulder injury during Monday's evening practice. Smith collided with cornerback Chris Gamble during a passing drill and fell to the ground in pain. He kicked his helmet in frustration as he walked away with trainers and was later carted off the field. More on this later. -- David Scott"

I know a lot of Panthers fans hate Vick, not only because of the dog situation but because of our past rivalries. But at the same time, just imagine using him in a few wildcat packages with Stewart and DeA...that could be ridiculous. I personally don't see us picking him up with our coaches and gm, but maybe I'll be surprised.

They just plugged Vick to Panthers on SportsCenter as a top possibility because of Delhomme's status as the given starter facing his last strike....

Also listed the packers and ravens as #2 and #3

I hope we do get Vick. He would be an incredible asset this team and make Jake work since he hasn't anyone to compete against for his job.

He said they don't need a QB and that they are happy with what they have, but to never say never.

Personally, Vick isn't going to be able to come out guns a blazing since he's two years removed from the sport--he's going to have to readjust. It would be great to have him as an option and open up our offensive play books

i dont like Delhomme
i dont like Vick

but as a Panthers fan i would love the competition that would arise if we had both, like someone said it would make Jake work harder i think.
