So yesterday I played against this team that had a Fiona who raged the whole game, talked trash while being up in the game, and they were winning until we aced them and came back. I've gamed for a long time, but this dudes trash talk was epic. The QQ'ing when they were losing was hilarious, and we ended up winning the game.

So I play a match tonight and get matched vs. the same guy but he doesn't remember me. Same scenario plays out, and just as we are about to win I remind him about the game last night and he FLIPS out.

Turns out he is in plat too. Hilarious. I should have recorded it.

^^ not sure if you've played any MOBAs before, but there are plenty of beginner guides on google.

As far as getting into it, the first few PvP games (you can try out vs AI if you want) will just be stupid, which is fine. People will probably yell since you don't know everything you're doing- many new accounts are started by experienced players that want a secondary account, and the worst of these people is the guy who got banned on his main account for being unsportsmanlike.

After losing your first few games, you will be more likely matched with actual new players. In the guides you will hear about standard lineups/positions and often people will focus on one position. This helps you know that position well, but in most games other people will probably want to play that position as well so I suggest trying positions to find at least 2 or 3 you are comfortable playing.

As far as champions, just work with the free champions and if you like one a lot then you can buy it with IP so you can play it once the free champions switch each week. As far as runes go (they buff your stats), only buy tier 1 (don't buy tier 2 as they are inefficient) until you can buy tier 3. Don't waste your IP, as you will be able to use more runes as you level up.

Feel free to add any of us in game but if you want to play with an experienced player, you should probably play vs AI until you get more experience since you will be matched against experienced players if you do PvP.

Don't play against bots (extremely important) and don't worry about winning. Try to focus on hitting minions right before they die so you get the gold. Nothing is more important than objectives.

By objectives do you mean quests or taking out towers?

I did play one game against bots last night and it was dumb as hell because 3/5 people just stood in the base afk.

There are no quests really. Just focus on getting towers. The reason you shouldn't play against bots is that you won't learn how other players move and react. Also there aren't bots for every champion so it will help you learn how to play against more champs. I'd like to also add that you should probably not bother playing with any of us. When you're new, playing with people who are level 30 mismatches the teams so bad that it becomes incredibly difficult and can be frustrating.

I'll say it again. If you want to be good at the game and have fun, then don't focus on winning. Focus on trying to get towers. Once you have a few champions that you like you want to focus on getting the last hit on minions and then only play those champions. Getting towers gives your entire team gold which is obviously good. You don't gain anything from hitting minions before the last hit when they die. It honestly doesn't matter at low levels but in higher level play if you just stand and attack / use abilities on minions then you'll push your lane forward and then you become more vulnerable as you move away from the safety of the tower

The most important thing (i'll only say this about a few more different things) by far is map vision. Buy wards and ward choke points. In low level games this is only important after the laning phase when people start roaming around. The easiest way to lose a game is to have a killing streak, run into the fog of war and then give someone 500 g because you didn't know there were 3 people there



Basically any brush or entry to the jungle. Low level games are pretty chaotic because no one has any idea what they're doing but as you keep playing knowing where to ward will become very important. Having vision of where the enemy is allows you to take more objectives safely without having to worry about someone popping out of no where.

getting good with a handful of champs (1 at each position) is a good thing in general. if you want to try new champs out or just get used to the chaos of team fights (and initiating team fights), play a few ARAMs. Those won't teach you all the skills for normal (like last hitting), but it is a good way to take a break.

Yes. Where you ward depends on what objectives are available. Basically you want to be able to safely get the last hit on minions (wherever the waves are meeting) and be able to see where the enemy would most likely be coming from so that you can escape.

This is really way too advanced and you shouldn't worry about this but just for the sake of argument...

In the early game if you were in the bottom lane, you can ward the river so that you could see if someone from mid was coming down.


This game is really really simple. If you're a competent human you should be able to play safely. The difficulty comes in with how skilled you are on champions and knowing when you're stronger / weaker than others. The basic concepts are all common sense. Don't over extend. Look at the minimap. Know where everyone is.
