I think it might have been cool if the Joker escaped and ran amok and defaced the city during the lock down. Maybe he could have never been seen in person, only by his actions, and maybe an echoing cackle occasionally taken from Heath's voice. And he would have evaded capture and lived through the end of the movie. This would carry on the legacy of the Joker created by Heath, rather than completely ignore it as they did.

I was really disappointed by this movie, and most movies in the past 5 years, for its over reliance on bullshit CGI and fantasy technology in lieu of good writing, plot, and character development.

That fucking transformers-monstrosity bat helo was just a damn crutch throughout the movie.

I was also really frustrated by the complete bullshit way in which Bane was killed at the end. Where was the epic battle, how did catwoman know where to find them, and who the fuck drives a giant ass motorcycle into a building and no one notices her sitting there lining up a shot with the cannons...

Really enjoyed the scenes in the pit prison and the development there, I think it could have been explained further to really develop bane.

Also, I completely burst out laughing in the theater at the end where batman goes wild on bane and keeps yelling "WHERES THE TRIGGER? WHERESTHETTRGGNRBANE? WHTHTRGRGHGHRG!?!?!"

As if that has ever been an effective interrogation technique, and yeah I can't wait for the bane/batman incoherent youtube exchange that should be inevitable.

Good news: I only paid $2.50 to watch the movie. Had a Target $5 coupon and watched a matinee.

Bad news: Movie sucked heavily. Cheesy cliche lines and themes, illogical plot, poor or over-the-top character development, the list goes on and on...

- Gotham city looks nothing like it did in the previous movies.
- Every sentence Bane made was a soliloquy. And half of it you needed subtitles.
- All of cities cops in the tunnels? WTF?
- The whole John Blake side story, about "structure" becoming a chain was badly executed. I mean, they tried to drive this point home at the end on the bridge, but it was weak.
- Most disappointing was the end where the evil, ruthless, heartless, fearless Bane shed sissy tears. Totally ruined the movie for me. You build a character up to be the most invincible villain to date and then you make him cry like a baby.
- On top of killing the most evil character off, they basically replaced him with a back-stabbing slut. Cliche, but would have worked if they actually did a little more character development on her. Not unexpected, but was it very disappointing. You don't replace a powerful antagonist with weaker one.

That's all I have time to write for now. I'm just glad I didn't pay that much to see it.

I wish they did a better job of building Thug #3 character up. Why does he live a life of crime? how was the his home life growing up? wife? kids? omg, this movie sucked.

^^That was my biggest problem with the Talia Al Ghul storyline. I just didn't care when she revealed her true identity. There wasn't enough establishment of her character, even in the context of a 3 hour movie. Had they introduced her alter-ego in BB or TDK, then it would have carried more weight... but here, it just felt cheap and convenient.

^^^ Agreed with pretty much all of that.

At the end of the day this was a ROCKY movie. Get beat up, do push ups, come back, beat up guy.

I was hoping for a more complex villain, I don't mind a twist usually but the Raz-aghoul daughter was lame.

Like stated earlier, you build up Bane to be a huge threat then all of a sudden hes a bitch and some RANDOM SLUT is supposed to be a big deal? Then she dies in a car crash 5 seconds later.

The entire defuse a bomb thing... meh. After seeing the trailer with the huge cop mercenary battle and the build up to the Bane Batman rematch I was expecting more from the ending.

Completely agree with this. I think Bale realized that was his last opportunity to yell at someone as batman, so he better be as crazy as possible...

The kiss at the end and the chick dying killed it for me.

-You've got a atomic bomb with less than 5 minutes on it about to go off and you want to kiss cat woman? psh.
-Whenever the girl died in the bomb truck, it was a terrible acting death, terrible. The camera pans over to batman and the others just watching her talk, which was retarded.
-I think this movie had a lot less cape. It seems like the others you got less full body shots of him throwing blows and it was more mystic to see a giant cape flappin around and people dropping. Didn't care too much for the way they showed him on this one.

Still a "good" movie though. Just had some things.

Haha, I forgot about that horrible death scene in the cab. I agree that if Thalia was introduced earlier then the twist would have been ridiculously epic, and given TDK a little more substance to the overall story arc.

Saw it on omnimax in Charlotte. For the first 20 minutes I was afraid I might not make it through the whole movie. Something about it made me nauseous. Took me 2 hours before I could forget about where I was.

I thought it was a pretty good action movie. It was going to be basically impossible to live up to its predecessor and didn't.

Finally got around to seeing this. Thought it was good overall, but weaker than the other two in the trilogy. I agree with others on here that the Talia character and "twist" were a little weak, but can see how it can help fill in some holes in regards to Bane and the League of Shadows (ie how he found out about Batman's identity and his motivation). I also felt that showing Bruce at the end was unnecessary and took away from some of the emotion of the ending. There had been more than enough foreshadowing and hand-holding during the movie for people to figure out what happened. I think Alfred's simple nod and half-smile at the cafe as the last shot would have been more satisfying and a true "clean slate". I also think the whole auto-pilot reveal should have been cut as well.

^^Your logic makes "Batman and Robin" a good movie.
Your logic is bad.

And I would have less issues with the plethora of flaws if it wasn't marketed and built up as the-second-coming.

Finally got around to seeing it. As others, I wasn't all that impressed. Not a terrible movie, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. I didn't feel like the story was as polished as some of Nolan's other movies.

I guess I didn't have as much of a problem understanding Bane as others but one thing I will say, his voice just seemed out of place. Hard for me to explain, but I don't think they did a good job of mixing his dialog back in with the rest of the movie. Just about every line he said felt like his voice wasn't a natural part of the environment. IIRC there was a scene where Bane was giving a speech, they cut to him being shown on a TV, then cut back to being "on scene with Bane." The audio quality didn't change during the transitions. You know like usually when they cut to the TV there's a tangible shift in quality because the voice is now through a crappy TV speaker and it reverberates in the room because the TV is off in the distance. Nope, none of that; and that's how his voice was the entire movie, unnatural and more importantly unchanging depending on the environment. Maybe they were going for that on purpose but it was a bit distracting for me. Every time he spoke I couldn't help but think how they added the dialog later instead of the dialog being "in" the scene.

^You're missing the point. I get that he had an apparatus and it was distorted that wasn't the problem.

And yes, when the dialog is so poor it is saying I WAS RECORDED LATER AND LAZILY MIXED BACK IN it takes me out of the movie. Every movie dubs the dialog back in, this one just did it poorly. Maybe they always max volumed it back in to account for people's difficulty in understanding it, don't know, but it sucked.

Curious about the Bane audio comments. Did most people that had trouble understanding him see it in a standard setup or IMAX? Back when the plane scene was previewed it seemed there were some issues but I didn't have the same problems seeing it in IMAX.

If you watch the original leak of the prologue compared to the new version of the prologue, you can tell that the dialog for Bane has been changed. Not only has the sound quality been changed, either by amplifying the voice or by dimming the background noise, but the inflection has changed as well. I think Nolan actually had him re-record a lot of it.

ehh, you're making about the same leap as the guy you're quoting by clinging to his poor choice of words ("unanimously").

78% is pretty good. But percentages alone are not that telling. That's 78% out of 45 total critic reviews. It doesn't take much to bring the score down with just 45 reviews. There were only 2 negative reviews and 6 mixed reviews from critics But still, 78 is positive on a 100pt scale, right? Especially when you're not actually reading those mixed reviews to find out what the critics had a problem with in each case.

The user reviews on metacritic are higher than those of the critics with an average of 8.5 from 1286 ratings. That's pretty good.

Rotten tomatoes has it at 87% from critics based on 269 reviews. The user rating there is 93% based on 397,473 ratings (avg. rating of 4.5/5). Those numbers (not just the percentages) matter and are pretty damn "positive."

Maybe TKEshultz didn't choose the best words (and some of his logic is suspect), but you're foolish if you don't think that audiences around the world are providing positive feedback for the most part.

And let's face it, a lot is lost between an actual review and forced numeric/thumbs up or down/fresh not fresh, positive/negative, etc. type of rating. Half of those mixed reviews could be mixed based on some misconceptions or extremely petty things. There are critics out there whom I don't always agree with but I can still use to determine whether or not I'll enjoy a movie based on the fact that I'm familiar with their work and their thought process. If you're going to cling to numeric ratings alone, I'd stick with the masses over 2 negative reviews, and 6 mixed out of a sample as small as 45. It's very fair to say that the reviews are very positive.

I enjoyed the movie up until Batman finally beat up Bane. The build up was intense but the climax seemed too short.

I wanted them to expand on Bane's character and badass-ness.

Several times in the trilogy the best character development/dialogue would come during/after a fight scene. IE Liam Neeson one liners, Joker interrogation room scene, Final joker fight scene... After Dent died they went into the SYMBOL GOTHAM NEEDS speech ect. Bane's character was BADASS AS SHIT when he first beat Batman's ass "You think the darkness is youre ally?"

Then Batman finally beats Bane in the rematch, and they make BANE cry, introduce a random character from nowhere (Hate it when a series does that without introducing them earlier) who lives on screen for 5 seconds before dying in a CAR CRASH, and Bane's character is bitch slapped out of the movie by some batman motorcycle rocket without any character development.

Also the Cary Crossroads Imax is a joke. A sick fucked up joke.
