for this one, they probably should. fairly meaningless one, especially when RP bused in a lot of college students on the last day just for the vote.

Yeah, there are times when I roll my eyes at the media when they try to diminish Ron Paul's victories by saying "oh its just college students voting for him, not important people."

But in this case a libertarian leaning republican who says government shouldn't be telling people what to do in their private lives is the exact opposite of what "values" in the values voters thing means. These people don't like Paul. So I agree with burros on this one.

he does this every time with the straw polls. they're like vtech fans at away games. they always have 20 buses of rabid fans following him around.

he did well in the CPAC straw poll legitimately, though. He might have brought in some buses, but he fared much better than Michelle Bachmann who brought in far more people than he did

Is that just the "front runners shouldn't attack down" rule at work, or is he thinking of pullin-a-Palin with Representative Bachmann as his VP?

I just want to say, that at this point, I'm about 90% sure Herman Cain is a Democrat plant.

Also,

http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/10/bachmann-i-want-to-adopt-the-reagan-tax-plan-psstthose-taxes-were-higher.php

Quote :
"“For my tax plan, I take a page out of one of my great economists that I admire, Ronald Reagan,” Bachmann boasted. “And under my tax plan I want to adopt the Reagan tax plan. It brought the economic miracle of the 1980s. Why not go with what works? I want to reinstitute the Reagan tax model from the 1980s.”"

Great bunch of candidates ya'll got there, really the cream of the crop.

Bachman is really upping the ante now, she wants to build a "double fence" between the US and Mexico.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/bachmann-signs-pledge-to-build-double-fence-along-entire-border-by-2013/

Quote :
"Michele Bachmann today became the first major candidate to sign a pledge vowing to construct a fence along the border with Mexico by the end of 2013.

At an event in Perry, Iowa, Bachmann signed the Americans for Securing the Border pledge and lent her support to construction of a “double fence” along the entire southern border of the United States.

..

She said the fence will be “job number one” if she were elected. “Every mile, every foot, every inch.”"

Surely a trillion dollar construction project is the best first step to fix our debt problem. Of course, not to be out done, Herman Cain wants to build an electric fence and put military on the border.

http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/10/herman-cain-wants-electrified-border-fence-to-kill-illegal-immigrants.php?ref=fpb

Quote :
"Mr. Cain, speaking at a Tea Party-sponsored rally in Tennessee, made some of his most pointed remarks yet on the issue. He said he might use military troops “with real guns and real bullets” to stop intruders.
Responding to anyone who might consider his remarks “insensitive,” Mr. Cain said the real fault lies with some illegal immigrants. “It’s insensitive for them to be killing our citizens, killing our border agents,” he said. “That’s what’s insensitive. And that mess has to stop.”"

Yet you supported BO's stimulus and jobs plan? Not saying I support this, but would probably be more shovel ready and create more jobs than either of BOs plans

Really? Building a giant fence between us and our third largest trade partner, and blocking access to the Rio Grande river is a better use of tax payer money than putting people back to working fixing our roads and bridges? Are you fucking serious?

Man, I've never seen a debate where they talk over one another so much with no respect shown to each other or the moderator, I almost feel bad for Anderson cooper. I agree with whoever said above that Romney, Cain and Paul should be the only ones left standing after this. Seriously, how does Santorum still get invited to these things?

I think Bachmann is confused and thinks she is already running against Obama. That, or she just knows that she has no chance of getting the nomination so she might as well just put down Obama to improved any republican's chance.

Even in the off chance of a Cain victory, I hope nobody actually believes this 999 plan will ever happen. This kind of change to the US federal tax code would result in a complete change in every business structure in the US. Corporate accounting, tax departments, CPA's, etc. would be completely destroyed. Too much lobby power out there.

It would be a good plan if the only goal was to boost the economy but this, like many other things that would boost the economy, would only reduce the standard of living for most americans.

It should just be Romney, Cain, and Paul...and Gary Johnson. Fuck all the rest of them...no respect for them or desire to even hear them run their mouths any more.

Once people get a good look at what the 9-9-9 plan would do, Cain will flame out like the rest. It is kinda sad (and makes Obama happy) that the GOP could not get anyone else to run...maybe they are waiting until 2016 to run against Hillary.

In what world does a boosted economy mean a reduced standard of living? Nominally higher GDP doesn't mean shit for the average person. We shouldn't be looking at the economy in terms of metrics, because a lot of the time, the metrics are horseshit.

The 9/9/9 thing is stupid, this isn't a fucking pizza delivery special. It would effectively be a regressive tax, since it would impose taxes on those that don't pay them currently.

The only serious budget plan that has been presented by any of the candidates is Ron Paul's 1 trillion in cuts. Is it drastic? Absolutely. We need drastic right now.
