Kept getting my ass kicked in Treva's Watch (or whatever it is). Would end up getting swarmed by four or five bandits, no matter how sneaky I was, and the two-handed dudes would just pummel me. Backed out and spent like an hour collecting the resources to upgrade to Elven armor. Refined that shit and got the 25% all-light armor bonus perk and now I cannot fucking wait to give those jerks their comeuppance.
btw, check out the mines in Dawnstar for heaps of quicksilver and iron
Also killed a dragon inside the Whiterun walls at 4am. Was pretty cool to see the entire town coming running out to gawk at it after it died.

By "re-rolling" do you people mean abandoning your current character and making a new one?
If so I'd never do that after more than a couple of hours. I do however have 3 separate characters I'm playing basically consecutively and will have a 4th soon, one for each major guild (Thieves, Mages, Companions, Dark Brotherhood). 11/23/2011 11:47:01 AM |

Re-rolling in the sense of playing a completely different character build, either concurrently with other builds and quest lines, or completely separately and individually. 11/23/2011 11:51:04 AM |

But I do think you should be able to take skulls from the trolls you kill, seems like they are reasonably valuable or at least collectible, considering how many people have them in their shops and houses. 11/23/2011 2:14:34 PM |

There was a scroll bug in Oblivion that would allow you to duplicate anything at all.
At one point, I got bored enough with the game that I put myself at the top of a really high tower with a sloping hill below me and duplicated four thousand watermelons.
The fell straight down and kept rolling. Bogged down my PS3 for about 15 minutes.

What level were you in that video? I just did that mission as a level ~35 and that last part with all the zombie dudes coming at you at once was approximately 8,000 times harder.
Then again, I'm not a mage either, so that probably had a lot to do with it. 11/23/2011 4:45:38 PM |

Skyrim players will find they level up faster than they did in Oblivion and Fallout 3, game director Todd Howard said at Bethesda's showcase event last week. "We do balance this game," he said. "The levelling is faster. Oblivion and Fallout 3, we think of them as 1-25 games. This is a 1-50. "But what that means is we just sped it up. It's not like it's going to take you longer. Meanwhile, Howard described Skyrim's open world as "about the same size" as Oblivion's. But the addition of difficult to pass mountains "theoretically create less space but more time because you can't cut across them". "It ends up feeling bigger," Howard said. "And the game tends to get harder as you go in elevation. You know, oh those trolls, they're up there, so I'm not going to go through the mountain. I'm going to go this way." Bethesda has increased the number of staff creating dungeons so they end up feeling varied. "We've got eight or nine guys now who are really good. It sounds like they straight ported some of the sounds from Fallout 3 that you hear in VATS. Like getting a slow-motion scripted kill in Skyrim sounds a lot like firing a bullet in VATS.
Dropping a bear in one of those scripted animation kills has a lot more clanging than I'd expect.

What's up with the zoom on the map. Am I doing it wrong, or is the zoom feature a joke? I'd like to see it zoom out far enough to get the entire map on one screen and maybe zoom in enough to start to see some of the major land features more clearly.
All I see is a very slight difference between zooming in and zooming out and the local map. I guess I'd be satisfied with an entire map on one screen zoom, displaying only the major locations if need be. I get tired of panning the map all over the place to get my bearings.
Edit: Apparently there's a "google maps" mod that does exactly that. I'll have to check it out.

Hell I'm having problems getting the dragons to stay and fight . I have had dragons fly off a few times. Last night I was at that fort for the final part of the Hangover quest and a frost dragon started attacking it. I started fighting it, didn't realize the people there were bad guys and had to fight them too. Eventually, the dragon would come by and do its frost breath, then fly off to attack someone in the field, and just flew away. Bastard never landed 11/25/2011 7:37:52 AM |

I was fighting a dragon at one of those dragon places at the top of a mountain for a bounty and when it divebombs into the ground, it glitched out and didn't actually come to rest at the end of animation but reverted to the beginning. When I killed him he went limp and fell down the mountain.. Rolled all the way down. Took me 10 or so minutes to get down there and find him.
I accidentally shot one of the greybeards with an arrow when a dragon was attacking high hrothgar. They killed me in no more than 1.4 seconds. 11/25/2011 8:16:37 AM |

Im trying to do some of those quests in my log that are absurdly far away (rescue a guy from prison in the far, far north west corner) and...its almost pointless to try . Inevitably i'll find a fort, bandit encampment, or very tempting cave and Lydia will aggro on something, so naturally I have to go fight by her side, and oh he'll may as well peek my head inside and see what's in here...lol.
Also, I bought another horse just for this journey, and the fucker got killed by bandit archers or something while I was in their hold when I wasnt more than 10 minutes down the road from my fast travel point
I find lately that I am just getting flat out raped at level 30 by high class bandits and mages. Marauders, Plunderers, Chiefs, and really any sort of Novice or higher mage will just wipe the floor with me in one or two direct hits. I almost wonder if its because I've been leveling up quickly due to smithing, enchanting, and alchemy mostly. The blocking perks have helped (being time stop), but it can get hairy quickly.
