I almost think he needs to go out on loan and regain some confidence. Send him to La Liga for 6 months and let him get his mind right. 9/18/2011 2:03:24 PM |

please. It was a terrible miss but this was easily one of his best games as a Chelsea player.
He did score a goal, he was involved throughout most of Chelsea's dominant 20 minute spell, he had a nice cross that should have been finished by Ramires, and he was at least trying to go at guys instead of moping around.
Pairing with Sturridge suits him better than Drogba. I wouldn't be surprised if he started to turn it around soon.

I know you can't be expected to watch the other team when United plays since everything they do is so special but Torres was far from "ruined" today. 9/18/2011 4:57:26 PM |

Yes, he played alright today and maybe he could be on his way back to form now playing with an in-form Mata.
But overall he's played like shit so you need to settle down.
Chelsea need to have Mata in the hole playing off Torres and buy someone that can cross to provide good service and we could see Torres back to the way he used to be. 9/18/2011 5:17:19 PM |

I'm settled down.
It's just kind of annoying to see so many people saying things like "Torres is finished" while ignoring he's had a pretty good start this season and was Chelsea's best player against the champions today.
And I don't even like Torres anymore. 9/18/2011 5:45:49 PM |

He's not being criticized unjustly. Too often he just looks uninterested and his off the ball movement has been shit. He's still had chances though and hasn't converted them...I don't think you can be unlucky for 18 months.
The combination of playing in whatever you want to call Hodgson's Liverpool and the pressure of his transfer and subsequent mishandling at Chelsea has left him a complete wreck with no confidence whatsoever.
Not to mention he's done fuck all for Spain too.

Yeah, of course I'm not arguing about last season. He was shit.
He's been a different player this season though and he's not getting any credit for it. Announcers/pundits/fans are already criticizing him before the game gets going. Every mistake is under a microscope and every good thing he does is somehow ignored. If somebody hadn't watched today's game and only read the post-game report, they might not even realize Torres actually scored a goal since there were 2 paragraphs dedicated to how he missed an open net and only a little mention of the actual goal. 9/18/2011 9:54:25 PM |

Torres was awful today. There's a reason he doesn't even play for Spain anymore - and we all saw it today. He is a shadow of his former self.

Couldn't find the Arsenal League Cup highlights online so I was forced to watch United's
That said, Owen's 2nd goal was nice and Giggs' goal was incredible. He must have incredible fitness / nutrition discipline and genetics to still have that kind of speed at 37. Plays the ball out a yard wide and long of the defender and beats him back to the ball by 3 steps. Not a United fan, but definitely have serious respect for Giggs. 9/20/2011 10:19:23 PM |

Finally found the Arsenal highlights. If Oxlade-Chamberlain's goal was any indication of his skill, I think Wenger spent his money well. Great goal from range, perfectly placed at the far post. 9/21/2011 9:16:32 AM |

Finally a comfortable win. Alex Song made a big difference from what I saw of the game in the second half. Great footwork and shot by him to net that third goal.
Hope Theo's injury isn't bad. Those that just pop up like that can be bad but he seemed to hobble off through the tunnel on his own ok, so maybe just a tweak. 9/24/2011 11:55:20 AM |

The Stoke fans were easily the most impressive I've seen all season.
I think It'd be cool to have chants like that in American football but I don't think it'd work with the start and stop style of play. 9/24/2011 6:21:09 PM |

Best one I heard today:
Quote : | "Huth! There it is!" |
From what I've read and heard, most fans from other major cities think Stoke is a hillbilly town full of yokels, and that their fans represent that well. All the more reason to like them...they're like the NCSU of the EPL
They are seriously loud there and apparently in the winter playing in the Britannia is tough. The weather there sucks and the stadium is oriented so that the wind whips through the corners of the stands and right onto the field. I remember watching them play last season and the corner flag looked like it was about to get ripped off the stick.9/24/2011 6:40:44 PM |

Watching QPR-Villa. I'm kinda liking QPR and their roster is pretty strong for a newly promoted team.
In any case, I've been to three grounds in London and Loftus Road was the most interesting. It's right down the street from the BBC world headquarters (which barely even feels like London), tiny and LOUD. I didn't see QPR play but did see Fulham in 2003 when Craven Cottage was being renovated. 9/25/2011 11:08:15 AM |

He said it was a misunderstanding, but that seems hard to believe. I mean, if you're a sub on the bench in a soccer game, you are sitting there waiting for your coach to put you in. What else could he have thought Mancini wanted? 9/29/2011 5:04:41 PM |
