I love that the students and a decent portion of the rest of the crowd stayed til the end. Nothing sucks more than to lose a game and have the UNC fans audibly cheering as the clock expires.

I love that we changed our gameplan to shut down Henson and Zeller as much as possible. Cannot believe the type of game Marshall had. We played well, simply need more depth/scorers and height. Loved the energy all night tonight.

Really pleased with the way the team played and crowd acted. Fought back from a shitty start. A lot of phantom calls but that's what you get with unc/duke games.

Haven't felt optimistic after a loss in a long time.

i realized something listening to the larry bird episode of the bs report: we have to make everyone in that building scared for the outcome to be anything but state winning. we have to make the opposing team legitimately scared to come out of the tunnel, like that usa soccer commercial from 2006. we have to let the refs know that they had better not even think about calling ticky tacky shit on richard howell. but most importantly, we have to let gottfried and the team know that if they don't win we're going to be furious. i think that's the key. our teams always play down to the competition, regardless of the coach, and i'm pretty sure it's b/c our fans show up relative to the competition. this team needs to feel like they're really playing for something every night.

that said i don't go to the games, so you guys get on it.

These are athletes at the absolute highest level they can play it for their ages. They live for these games and these situations so of course they are going to enjoy it. The only "fear" that is present in these guys would be if they could be in physical danger like playing a game in a third world country (like a CONCACAF road game).

make 7 or so more free throws and kendall marshall plays normal on offense and you've got yourself a possible W....i thought our guys played very well all around in terms of executing our game plan - carolina is just very very good. Early in the 1st half our D was questionable but we adjusted pretty nicely.

We had a chance to beat Carolina if we didn't game plan our defense around giving them wide open 3's and layups all game. Come to think of it that's been our gameplan on defense all season. Give them the wide open 3's and layups while making sure not to force turnovers.

Lorenzo is the worst defender I've ever seen at the college level. He can't even contain shooting guards, Jeremy Lin would defecate on the court while dropping 50 and 20 against him.

Marshall had a great shooting game, yes, but he's also a great player. His 3s werent even close to contested so it's on like be went JJ Redick on us drilling 30 foot fadeaways. It was equal parts good shooting and bad defense.

the economy went to shit, and so did the basketball team. if you put a shit product out there for 5 years do you think people are going to be lining up around the block to buy? No.

And now you have students coming into school that haven't experienced a Winning season in the ACC. Double digit ACC loss seasons doesn't exactly get the juices flowing.

I think the fans did a great job to show up after the ass stomp in chapel hill, i feared that the upper level would be filled with UNC fans like the Syracuse game. it wasn't.

and the crowd was loud until 2 min to go down ~15.

If you missed it and need a recap of the ceremony before the game here it is.

23 years ago we had a basketball team who didn't lose 10 games over the course of the whole season. I know that's difficult to imagine because usually we blow through 10 losses around the middle of January, but it really did happen.

Back then basketball had a different sort of feel to it. The basic principles were the same though, don't give teams wide open 3's, layups, and free throws. On offense you were encouraged to practice good shot selection and not step out of bounds.

So to encourage our current roster of underachievers we showed them what can happen if you lose less than ten times in one season. You will be presented with a trophy that looks strikingly similar to a Mario Kart trophy in front of your family.

I actually thought we played a decent game against a top10 team playing some of their best basketball. Call it a "moral victory" or whatever, but I didn't feel nearly as angry after this game as i did during and after the fsu game, and after pissing away the 20-pt lead against duke.

This time we played them closely enough that they barely even played the Mormon and when he came in he only made like one good play!

that white kid's good play was a drive that he got caught in the air and got lucky. It did feel good having them not playing him. We were in the game last night for a while, a lot longer than I would have imagined.

We have a legitimate shot of finishing the season 21-10 and 10-6.... I think we all would be doing if you told us this at the beginning of the year.

But the Mormon didn't have a big impact this time. Our gameplan was to make Marshall look SO good that he might go pro after the season . Not only did we achieve that but we also limited their backup pg minutes so he won't be as prepared next season!

pretty much how i feel. of course our defense could have been better, but we played with high energy and had good effort for much of the game. something that definitely didn't happen the first time we played unc. unc is a national contender that played a very good game against us.

also, i know wood has been nonexistent lately...but so has cj williams. it's bad enough when one of them is not producing, and we definitely won't be winning many games when neither of them are scoring.
