^wrong

there aren't very many marquee games that day that ESPN could pull...I think i remember some random SEC matchup that might would be the one they went with.

if both teams are undefeated AND its on Halloween, there's a good chance. Id put it somewhere around 25%, but that is depending on A LOT of factors.

Crazy watching us just roll through three teams but not having a true sense of where we really are. Hopefully we'll keep on keeping on and make it to Clemson undefeated.

Louisville certainly isn't as scary as I thought there were, but I'm not discounting them. VTech losing their QB will help us in what could still be a really tough game at Lane. Wake Forest shouldn't be a problem, but they always seem to be when they play us at home. I'll probably go to that game (first time at Wake).

I think us going into the game against Clemson undefeated is definitely doable.

^^Oh I said if we're both undefeated then we'd have a really good shot at it. What I was trying to imply, was that the odds of both teams being undefeated for our game was REALLY, REALLY low. I don't see our team going 7-0, and Clemson plays ND and GT between now and then so they have some tough games.

I think if we're both undefeated, we'd almost be a lock for Gameday...that being said, I just don't see us getting to 7-0 with how our schedule shakes out. Really hoping I'm wrong because that would be huge for our program.

My reasoning:
Louisville - they have a warm-up game next week to help settle their QB situation, and they had 4-5 turnovers and still almost beat Houston. I think it'll be a good game, and it's winnable, but it'll be the first good defense we play all year and we're suppose to be unleashing the rest of our playbook, so could our offense sputtering a bit.
@VT - short week, on the road, one of the best defenses we'll face all year. I know the QB is out, but they just hung 40+ and 50+ points the last 2 games and their OL is playing well. We're going to have a really hard time running against that DL, so Brissett is going to have to play great.
@Wake - we have a horrible track record playing @Wake going back the last 10 years. On paper we should win that game, but we just never play well at Wake. I think this is the most winnable game of the 3 based purely on talent.

Florida plays Georgia that day in the worlds largest cocktail party or whatever and if both teams are undefeated, thats where Gameday will be. 100% lock.

But Georgia plays Bama, @ UT, and Mizzou
Florida plays UT, Ole Miss, @Mizzou, @ LSU

So theres at least 2 or 3 losses in there for those two teams combined.

I'd be surprised if we're 5-0 going to VT, much less 7-0.. Louisville isn't gonna keep losing close games to good teams, they might just be due for a W. And going to VT is going to be tough no matter what.

9-0 is pretty much a lock

USA = cupcake
Louisville = season over dumpster fire and at home
Va Tech = bogus QB

Bye week to get rested as fuck

Wake = they lost to cuse bruh, we def winning there for the first time in like a dozen years
Clemson = you seen their schedule the 4 weeks before us? they will be tired as f and playing in Carter finley where opponents dreams come to die
BC = QB out

The way I see it, we will be 9-0 going to FSU who will likely be 8-1

as everyone knows, teams that are 9-0 are better than teams that are 8-1, therefore, we win + Brisket revenge and Heisman moment

Syracuse is on 4th string QB
UNC sucks

12-0 eat our dicks!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^^we also have a bye week prior to the Wake game, which I think will help us to prepare and hopefully have us champing at the bit as opposed to coming out flat @Wake where there is no crowd energy to feed off of. I think that Wake game will be a good measure as to how much the current staff has changed the team's "NC State Shit" mentality.

My bigger concern would be if the team starts to get caught up in their own hype. In this hypothetical scenario we're 6-0 and the team has been "reading their own press clippings" for two weeks and thinks the game will win itself at lil 'ol Wake.

Here's hoping we've learned how to handle winning and Gameday ends up in Raleigh. That would be incredible.

Closer to 20. We've just won one game at wake since 1996...but i guess that means we're due, right?

The optimism on this board is pretty hilarious. We haven't even played anyone. Lets wait until after our preseason to start making predictions.

L'ville's QB (and offense) is terrible. There is no reason for us to lose to them.

I agree that talking about X-0 records and Gameday is pretty ridiculous at this point, but since we haven't yet played a "real" game, there's not much else to talk about. At least we're at a point where we can still be wildly (albeit absurdly) optimistic.

While on the topic of Louisville...their offensive line looked like absolute garbage vs Clemson. And Clemson does have a good D and DL. But they were not even coming close to blocking anybody.

I think Louisville is a winnable game, I assume we'll be slight favorites since it's in Raleigh. The roles may be kinda reversed from last year when we played them. We were underdogs on the road, but certainly not a cupcake opponent. I think the same could be said for them this season. We probably should beat them at home. But that's far from a guarantee.

I haven't really watched Louisville much this season outside of some pieces of the Auburn and Clemson games, but the thing I heard their fans complaining about were their QB being bad and that they couldn't stop the run. Now I'm sure they've cleaned that up a bit, but if they can't stop the run, esp. up the middle as the fans were claiming, we might really be able to wear that defense out.

We should be more worried about @VT than about Louisville.

Both teams have already had to play some tough games, but where VT has demonstrated they can win games with a backup QB, Louisville has done nothing but show they can't pull it together.

Sure it's a 12:30 kickoff, but Louisville has to come into our house, which will likely be packed, and beat a highly motivated and well disciplined team. That's a tall order.

We've gotta travel to Blacksburg on a short week and try to pull off the same thing 6 days later. @VT makes me way more nervous than Louisville.

That being said, I still think we're perfectly capable of being 7-0 going into Halloween bring on GameDay

^hahahahahah at glennon

^^when is the mississippi state home and home...like 2021-2022 maybe?

according to this list http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/north-carolina-state/rushing.html shad could move up to, potentially, 5th next game. he currently sits at 10th place, but 5th and 10th are separated by only 114 yards.

Also, from that stat list. Jaylan Samuels has the highest YPC (8.7) of anybody with at least 25 career carries.

You probably read it wrong anyway. Probably don't understand the difference between " 3 games we should lose" and "3 games we could lose". Obviously theres 8 games we could lose but only three we should lose. You could try to make a case for a 4th game we should lose but thats assuming you actually came on here to talk football instead of just to make jokes/1 liners.

Anyone who can throw the ball or slow down our rushing attack is a threat to beat us. So tbat's like...our entire remaining schedule with the exception of Wake, but Wake can still beat us because they're Wake.

I don't care much about "respect" at this point, we haven't beaten anyone for any voter to give us serious consideration.

If we beat Louisville I think we instantly sneak in at #25 as our "4-0" becomes more legit at "5-0" when we actually have a win over a P5 team.

Louisville starting 1-5 when they've lost by a score or less to good teams so far seems a remote possibility.

This is going to be a tough, tough win.

These are just preseason rankings anyway. The real rankings don't come out until November. If we're unbeaten by then, I'm sure we'll get just as much respect as everyone else who is unbeaten.

NC State is among a surprisingly large group of surprisingly undefeated teams, quietly throttling South Alabama 63-13 to reach 4-0. It was the Wolfpack's highest single-game point total since 2002, when some guy named Philip Rivers was the quarterback. Granted, NC State hasn't played anyone (no offense Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Old Dominion or South Alabama), but now the Pack starts ACC play. And a team that can move the ball with regularity has a legit chance to win America's banana peel conference, especially with Clemson coming to Raleigh on Halloween."
