My fiancee is getting her PhD at UCSB. NC State baseball was supposed to play them 2 seasons ago to open the season but it got rained out. No one there cares about sports outside of soccer, but this might change things. I've been to a soccer game and it was super fun (flying tortillas and all), but I wouldn't necessarily call myself a fan.

It's weird walking into K-Mart here and at the entrance instead of all the State/Duke/Carolina stuff it's all UCSB and Cal Poly. I'm a big fan of the UCSB logo though.

The only in-conference matchups were Miami/BC and TexasTech/TCU. So yeah it meant one less ACC team had a chance of making it in, but the Big 12 still managed.

The bigger surprise is that only 3 top-ranked teams made it in (#1 Florida, #3 Miami, #6 Texas Tech).


EDIT: Maybe not a huge surprise...I just checked for comparison, 2015 had 4 of the top 8 and 2014 had only 2.

It's fine for college baseball. Most programs do not have deep starting rotations. The last thing I want to see are 5 or 7 game series where the 3,4,5 game starters can barely last 4 innings.
