Woman Struck by Metro Train; Major Green Line Delays

WASHINGTON - Metro is warning commuters of major delays after a woman apparently jumped in front of a Green Line train Thursday afternoon.
The woman is expected to survive. Four of the trains' six cars rolled over the woman, but she made it out with some lacerations, D.C. Fire Department spokesman Alan Etter says.
Witnesses saw the woman jump in front of the train at the Georgia Ave-Petworth station on the Green Line at around 3:40 p.m., Etter says.
It took some time for rescuers to get her out from under the train.
Trains are trains are sharing one track between the Georgia Ave-Petworth and Fort Totten Metrorail stations.
Etter says the woman appears to be about 35 years old and was semiconscious while being transported to a hospital.
