Haha, okay. It's Daniel Evans part 2, and you've seen the pics and videos to prove it.

When the fuck did I say that? I just said he LOOKS to small. Which, to me, he does. I've made no assessment of his game or ability. I never said he was going to be Daniel Evans pt 2.

Stop just assuming shit

^^Russel Wilson wasn't 6'2", QB Austin King is (and ~190ish). Which someone said is "to small" for a high school QB.

I'm in the camp that says getting a major QB in this class wasn't necessary, but there is the added disappointment of the domino effect. He's a local QB with ties to a lot of our other prospects. There were thoughts that his commitment could have started off a string of other guys committing in the next couple weeks.

Hopefully that won't be the case and we'll still get our top targets.

That's not small...

This guy got offers from Harvard and Yale. I assume he's a smart kid and fairly humble (based on his twitter posts). I'm good with this. Welcome to the Pack.

RW was a 2 star recruit...

Last season didnt help with recruiting at all.

If we have ANY hint of talent this year compared to last, we should be way way better and recruiting will take off.

Not to mention 2 years in the new system will help these guys a lot.

A lot like my Arizona Cardinals.

Last year, in June, we got commitments from like half of our class. This June, half of our targets have committed elsewhere. There will always be players, but didn't we fire TOB and hire DD because TOB couldn't get the commitments from the 4* in-state types? Whats sad is that the high rated players that packpride mods felt we had the best shots at....have now committed to other schools...lol.

Supposedly just a week before ALL of their commitments, we were thought to have led for Chaffin, McGirt and Barnett. Wanna know the really sad part? Everytime one of them commits somewhere, you hear the same old line from fans/moderators over there: "Well you really can't blame them for choosing (insert school)." Well shit, if we're already back at that stage, give me TOB back. Atleast we'll be in a bowl every year and not going 0-8 because our coaches can't teach linemen how to lineup in 5 months of practice.

We've currently got six commits and 8 spots left open, as far as I know, and that's about half, right?

Last year was a big class (30?), this year is going to be a small class. It's going to look different.

They're in the entire staff's first full recruiting cycle coming off a terrible season.

Take your hands off his throat for one second and let him do his job. It's a process. You lose sight of the picture when you attempt to micro-analyze everything that happens inside a program.

Let's judge him after 4 years. Until then, have faith, sit back, and let the man work.

Why? in order to be judged well in that time frame, he needs to start recruiting well.

and it's not like these coaches are all rookies in the recruiting game. they should know what they are doing at this level.

I think it's fair to judge him. you can't come off a colossal failure of a season and not be under the microscope, sorry.

Doeren recruited well in 2014 and was able to land a few high 3* and 4* guys even after that disaster of a season. I know we're taking a smaller class, but missing on the amount of guys that we seemed to be in great shape with doesn't bode well for this 2015 class.

My nephew is being recruited by UNC, Wake, Duke, and has had some contact with State as well. From his experience he said the State coaches don't keep in contact with him like the other coaches. He gets personal visits from UNC, Duke and Wake. The other schools also gave him a voucher so he could go to any game this season if he wanted. He will probably end up at Wake since they are going after him the hardest.

If they really wanted him, they would be in constant contact as much as they are allowed by the NCAA.

"My son is a potential recruit. Given a rash of recent postings, I wanted to give the fans the parent's perspective on the recent posts.

Many fans have stated that this has been a tough week in recruiting, and the fans have directed the frustration at the coaches. Before posting negative comments about the coaches, please remember the following:

- Recruits and families read these posts.

- Having met the coaches, they are great recruiters, and the recruits respect and support them.

- State is a great school and does have a great academic reputation. Focusing on the perceived lack of respect only makes it sound like State isn't on par. I'm a Carolina graduate, so it's fun to poke fun at other schools, but I have to admit that State is a great school.

- This is a new coaching staff. No reasonable recruit would expect instant success on the field. The failure to land a few recent recruits does not appear (to other recruits) to be due to shortcomings at State. It's the luck of the draw.

- The coaching staff has not had adequate time to bring in their recruits. No reasonable recruit would make judgments within the first couple of years. We don't hear other recruits expecting great success right now. Yes, last year was disappointing, but it was a first year.

- The recruits see State in the top three or four with many big name recruits. This is impressive for a coaching staff that is this new to a program. I am surprised to see State place so well this soon. To the recruit, State looks like a force in recruiting.

- To focus only on a few big name recruits (and to mourn the demise of the program when a few don't pick State), is very premature and very short-sighted. From the recruits' perspective, this is a bit insulting to the other 2015 recruits. Remember that many players in the Super Bowl were 2* or less. Further, there are more great recruits in the 2015 class. State still has choices.

- The negative posts detract from the accomplishments of the staff and quickly make things look bad. They are not bad at all.

- Although we believe that most fans support the staff, the vocal few who post negative comments are very obvious and very apparent.

- The negative posts are enough to cause recruits to doubt the coaches. Come on, after the first year, there is no reason to express this level of doubt. The sky is not falling.

- Recruits will begin to doubt the program unnecessarily if they keep seeing such extreme negatives so early.

- Other programs will use the negative posts to show that there are problems at State when there aren't. From the recruit's perspective, there is no reason to be alarmed at this point.

- This will all create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

- Please give the coaches a couple of years. Kay Yow had made it clear that she supports Coach D and the staff--you should, too. The recruits who attend the Junior Days and other team functions hear her voice her support.

- We expect great things from State in the next few years, and I don't think we will be disappointed.

So, on behalf of this family, I ask the State posters to be circumspect and think before you post. Yes, it's disappointing to lose a recruit to Stanford or UNC, but these coaches can pull together great teams. Please give them a chance.

Bob Gourley (father of potential recruit Alex Gourley)"
