Airplay SDK is available on Android and I know you can go Android to ATV. I don't know enough about gtv to know whether you can run one of the airplay apps (Doubletwist supports it iirc) on it and then stream between them that way? 7/18/2012 11:30:09 PM |

It's annoying that GPS won't automatically turn on when I enter the nav app... why must I get a pop-up saying GPS is disabled, then have to go enable it, then return to nav. I've already agreed to the warning, just turn the damn GPS on. 7/19/2012 4:12:55 PM |

Anyone know if the Verizon Galaxy SIII can use a Canadian prepaid SIM? I know it's not unlocked for Int'l yet but not sure whether Canada's system is the same. My Dad and I are heading up there in August and I don't want to get stuck roaming. 7/22/2012 2:06:57 PM |

Verizon offers CDMA roaming depending on what part of Canada you're in. Some have said they have been able to put AT&T and Tmobile sims in it to get voice and text to work but seems to be glitchy.
And gotta love that locked bootloader

nexus s 4g, 4.0.4 apex rom
around once per day the phone will randomly lose ALL data. even calls and texts will not go through. the bars go gray and it won't reconnect until I reboot.
and then I went to myrtle beach over the weekend and it was a crapshoot trying to dial out. 75% of the time it wouldn't even ring, just sit there "Dialing..." until I got fed up. all incoming calls went straight to VM, and texts kept failing to send.
i'm about to say fuck it, pay the etf and head to big red 7/23/2012 11:37:29 PM |

My Droid Razr just updated to Android 4.0 and while I like IceCreamSandwich and all, some wonky things have been happening for me on my phone since the update. Forewarning: this is the first update I've had on this phone, my first Android product, so I might just not realize some things.
When it updated it removed some of my apps that I assume aren't compatible with 4.0, like a task manager I had (which I can't find in Google Play Store anymore), et cetera. I assume that's normal.
I think I'm having flash troubles or something. YouTube when viewed through desktop-view on a browser won't play videos and freezes, same for other flash services both on desktop-view and on the mobile sites. I used to be able to put my browser on desktop-view and watch Amazon Prime Video, but I can't anymore--which I kind of hate because I don't have internet service at the moment, and love my Prime videos. Youtube will often lose sound, or just stop working entirely. 7/24/2012 3:10:41 PM |

So is there a way to figure out WHAT app is keeping my screen from dimming? I'm on a GS3 and one of the apps I've installed lately is keeping my screen on. I thought it was widgetlocker (trying to get gmail notifications on lockscreen) since it started after I installed it but it still happens after deleting it. I'd really prefer not to go through deleting apps until I find it (especially since it isn't constant). 7/26/2012 7:19:56 PM |

So my first android question after a couple days of use. Is there no standby? If I don't use my Nexus 7 for a night I'll wake it up the next morning and half the battery will be gone. Is it best practice to just turn it off if you're not using it? I'm used to iOS devices that last a week or more without any battery discharge if the screen isn't on. Or am I doing something wrong? 7/29/2012 7:25:39 AM |

Something is wrong or running in the background. I can leave my asus transformer asleep for a number of days and not be dead, but it will slowly drain the battery over the course of a week. But I do tend to shut it down if I don't plan to use it in the next 24hrs. 7/29/2012 7:56:27 AM |

generally as long as it isn't trying to actively sync all the time your drain should be =<1% a hour when not in use. play with your sync settings or just turn it off when not in use. 7/29/2012 7:56:53 AM |

Mine does that as well. And that seems to be the start of it not getting my position right. I'll realize I need it, turn on the gps, go to google maps/navigation and set the destination, and start on my way. It takes a few minutes to get a signal (used to be pretty much instant), and by the time it does it doesn't have the correct location.
It started the day I upgraded to ICS. Sooner or later it picks me up in the right place, or sometimes I turn it off and then back on and it fixes the problem. But it's a hassle, especially considering how well it worked before.7/29/2012 10:00:20 AM |

this is free and awesome: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex.gowidget.gopowermaster
you can set up multiple power schemes and schedule which scheme you want to use at what time...i have my thunderbolt set to "sleep" at 10:30 and wake up at 7 (it really just disables everything but calls and texting)...i also use it to set up a quick-select power scheme for "gps logger" when backpacking (no data, no calls, no text, no bluetooth...just GPS and minimal screen-on time with the lowest brightness)
it does other things like manage apps to increase battery life, but i rarely use that
the app, in combination with imoseyon's leankernel for the thunderbolt, gives me about at least a day and a half of battery life between charges on my thunderbolt (using the crappy non-extended OEM battery)...i've had it go 48 hours before, but that's after it went into sleep mode at 15% and it was down to virtually nothing by the time i was able to charge 7/29/2012 10:54:35 AM |
