5* longsnapper lololol. I'm pretty sure he wasn't ranked...like at all. He did have an offer from Louisville so that's cool I guess.

Quote :
"Long snapper Tyler Griffiths from Monroe (N.C.) Sun Valley announced his commitment to NC State today at Chris Rubio's North Carolina long snapping camp, which was held at Hough High School. The guru ranks the senior as a five-star snapper and the ninth-best in the class of 2015.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Griffiths chose NC State over a scholarship offer from Louisville, while Virginia and North Carolina were among the other schools interested. He won the Wolfpack's long snapping competition at their summer camp and was offered preferred walk-on status by head coach Dave Doeren afterwards.

He picked up a tender from the Cardinals soon after, and when he returned to NCSU for a visit in July, the Wolfpack took Griffiths by surprise and upgraded their offer to a full scholarship. He was on campus again on Friday for the Pack's camp at Carter-Finley Stadium with several other recruits and big-time targets.

Griffiths also knows current Pack long snapper Scott Thompson, who enters his senior campaign as a three-year starter and was a first-team All-America selection according to Phil Steele in 2013. Thompson has actually trained the senior previously and knows him through Rubio's camps. "

Wtf. So there's at least 8 other 5* long snappers in the nation? Or is that 5* distinction a positional ranking?

Edit: Oh wait, that's saying a guy named Chris Rubio ranked him a 5*. So it's not like a recruiting service...Rivals, Scout, etc ranked him that.

Not to take away from Griffiths...but it just seems a bit ridiculous to call him, or any long snapper, a 5*.

^Why do you say that? Danny Young was one of the most popular players at State. He made a shitload of tackles down field.

You get his point. Stop it.

And don't make Danny Young out to be someone he wasn't from a popularity standpoint.

lot of buzz right now that consensus four-star (and top 50 to ~150 overall) DL Darian Roseboro will pick us when he announces Friday afternoon. not getting my hopes up yet (what up Amile Jefferson) but he'd be the first big name in our 2015 class and hopefully would get the ball rolling in terms of picking up some other top in-state recruits

Yeah, apparently every recruiting guru in the Southeast is now predicting him to NC State saying that things have changed in recent weeks when everyone thought he was Michigan's. Apparently he also tweeted that it would take a lot to get him out of North Carolina and that family is big to him.

I usually don't get too into football recruiting...just too many guys to follow and remember. And we usually don't recruit particularly well. But, yeah, from everything I'm seeing on twitter it seems like we're in really good position with Roseboro. Fingers crossed.

or expect the worse, accept the best. like when Street committed last year, which was a bigger commitment than roseboro would have been.

^^I've gotten to that point, and am a much happier person.

I do, however, want a statistical breakdown of NC State's changes with a recruit (football or b-ball) who holds a presser with multiple schools in the running (hats/helmets/sweaters/etc.). It must be something like 10%.

^^ depending on what site you're looking at Roseboro is rated higher.

This would have been pretty big for two reasons...1) he's likely the best player in the State and 2) it might have got the ball rolling with other guys.

We've got an extremely mediocre recruiting class going on right now and we need to throw a couple studs in there. Hopefully we can come hot out of the gate and show these recruits that we're trending upwards. I wasn't expecting to sign a bunch of top guys, but we don't even have a couple right now.

I think Roseboro is pretty solid to Michigan, but maybe they'll shit the bed this year, Hoke will get fired, and he'll reconsider. Go for a game up there in November and have your country balls shrivel up when you step off the bus and maybe you'll decide to stay in-state.

^^you're right, i was thinking that some sites had Street as a 5*.

I was thinking we may get this one, and it would have been pretty big, but oh well, I knew it was possible we wouldn't. Yep, another case of not getting excited until the deal is done.
