Romney still doesn't get it though.

Uh, yes, we want automatic weapons. No, they're not illegal in this country.

Do you think LEOs fire pistols more then the military ?

I feel that even though the military has carbine or rifle as a primary weapon that their secondary is still probably fired more then the local patrolman fires his primary pistol.

to skywalkr RE: Shooting around vehicles- 600 pistol, 600 rifle.
I'll be shooting a Glock 35 and custom AR-15 predominantly.
I will be bringing a Glock 23 and Mossberg 590 as well for some use during the class.

Talking to my BIL (3 tours in the sand box), primary weapon is used a ton, secondary/ aux is rarely used.
He said most engagements for him were 300+ yards.
LEO seem to use pistol for the majority of the time.
I think it would come down to how much the LEO trains to say if they use the pistol more than .mil

i just feel like your typical LEO barely ever fires a shot.

so even though its a secondary in battle it's still more likely to be used then a primary... in the crabtree valley mall.

The majority of the military doesn't carry a pistol as a 'secondary'. A lot of admin types carry them as primary weapon systems; Doctors, clerks etc. Also MPs, pilots..

In the infantry, the only guy with a pistol is a machine gunner, and maybe some cherry-ass lieutenant here and there.

So really the only folks that carry a primary and secondary are special operations types. And yes they shoot exponentially more than your average cop.

The NRA is just like our political system, full of bullshit but no one else can make a dent because they have so much power. Just like our shitty two party system, both parties are full of douche bags who only care about staying in office but shit ain't going to change as long as all the sheep keep supporting them.

For an LEO, the handgun is a weapon of necessity and all other systems are opportunity.

NRA is shit compared to GRNC. Give your money to them. The NRA makes "deals" and endorses anti-gun congressmen all the time. They'll support legislation that shafts gun rights in order to get something else.

Long story short, I dropped one of my guns and it landed on concrete and chipped the frame (stainless). Its not a huge chip, but it bothers the piss out of me since the gun is essentially new. Any home remedies for me? Professional?

I may be off base, but it seems like you are an overly critical type of person. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have to question it like you do. There are more people in the market than you that do different things and own different weapons than you do.

I buy Stingers to shoot in my SR-22 pistol because my Fiancee loves to shoot that gun. She's a lefty and doesn't like to shoot anything bigger than .22. Stingers are definitely not the most ideal SD ammo, BUT it's the only gun I have (between .380, 9 and 40) that she'll shoot. For practice we run bulk Federal bulk or Stingers through it.

My .380 is loaded with Magtech Guardian 85 gr +P ammo. She hates shooting this gun and couldn't hit the side of a large building with it.

85gr at 1082 fps is 220 ft-lbs of energy

My SR-22 is loaded with CCI Stingers. 22gr at 1640 fps. She loves shooting this gun and is quite a shot with it, plus it has larger capacity.

32gr at 1640 fps is 191 ft-lbs of energy

So the Stingers deliver a little less punch than a +P .380 while allowing her to shoot a gun that she actually enjoys shooting. That's why I buy them.

self defense is not about enjoyment

not sure why you brought up stingers anyway. hiro said it's a cool gun. i should've said "i don't see why it's so cool. why do you think it's cool?"

Quote :

this is a forum. we discuss stuff. don't get bent out of shape, just tell me why some folks want a 22WMR pistol. only reason i've got is for dispatching deer during bow and muzzleloader season, when you're allowed to carry a rimfire handgun for dispatching wounded game only. if there are other reasons, please inform me.

my boss went out and bought one (PMR30) but it was probably because of the "cool factor" of a rimfire that holds 30 rnds

he hasn't brought it out for a while. fun to shoot though, as long as somebody else pays for ammo

I'm not bent out of shape, shit doesn't translate well over the internet. I'm saying that it seems like you can always find a negative when someone says or posts something.

There's your problem. How about shooting for recreation? Matches?

My SO doesn't carry any gun with her even though she has her CHP. If she did want to carry it, I would support her though (it's better than nothing, or would you want to argue that too?). I'd rather have her carry a gun she is comfortable and capable with than one she can't shoot anything with.. especially when it is only carries marginally less energy than a +P 380 round.

ammo is too expensive for recreation (why not just shoot a .22LR?).

and i can't think of any matches where .22WMR is a good choice. power factors and such. maybe there's some rimfire pistol matches where you could shoot it. ammo cost is a huge factor for most match shooters as well. they have to practice with the exact same stuff with which they compete, so they go through a pile of ammo. that's why they're willing to sacrifice some practice time to reload their own.

Believe it or not, some people have the budget and desire to shoot 22wmr recreationally as well as in matches.

Ket-Tec makes the RFB

"because it's cool" is always enough justification to own any gun.

In practical terms though the only benefit of having a 22 wmr handgun is the ability to penetrate 3a body armor at close range.
