I inadvertently ran 12 miles today. Started out planning to do a 10K, but I felt good enough at the original turnaround point to change my route. Trouble was, I didn't eat or drink enough beforehand for a long run--it was midafternoon, and I hadn't eaten any lunch, just had a bowl of cereal, muffin and coffee in the morning. I bonked out a bit around mile 10 but resolved not to walk at any point. Those last two or three miles killed my pace; I ended up with a time of 1:50, including a brief stop halfway through to beg a glass of water at a coffee shop.

Tell you what, I never realized how much difference actively paying attention to your calorie intake can make.

^2 yeah that's what my friends told me... they said bring a beach towel to put on my mat

^ it's at Open Door Yoga studio, on West Johnson St (downtown near St. Mary's)... you should come with us, it's at 7:30 and by donations only (but the recommended donation is $12)

what should I wear? I have this water-wicking tank top that I'll probably wear but I'm unsure about yoga capris vs shorts

Yes on the beach towel (plus a hand towel to wipe your face off when it starts getting too sweaty) and drink plenty of water today (bring a bottle with you as well).

I wear a sports bra/tank top thing. And yoga pants. Wear stuff that is really comfortable. You're going to be covered in sweat, so just be prepared for that

don't need to worry about socks/shoes you're going to be in bare feet.

Sometimes I just wear a bathing suit to hot yoga class. Any clothing will do, but I never wear a shirt. Once you start to sweat, it will be soaked and disgusting.

Did a slightly lower weight shoulder/chest workout today just to make sure the back muscle soreness wouldn't fire up. So far, so good. Also, shot around for about an hour on the basketball court.

Y was odd today... hardly anybody there. Least amount of people since I've joined.

The young women in the hot yoga studio I frequent are pretty hot in their yoga pants.

HOT get it? But, really, they are.

i swam for 45 minutes!!!

omg. i haven't been to the pool in forever. it was good though - didn't feel TOO bad but i'll be sore tomorrow probably.

i have no idea how far i swam because i lose count easily (i like to contemplate life while swimming). but i got good yardage in since i swam 45mins.

after i do that for a few weeks a few times a week i need to make an actual workout where i do intervals and ish instead of just swim.

it sucks how when you get used to running longer distances, it takes longer to get into that comfort "cruisin" mode

or is it just me

seems like now, it takes like 3-3.5 miles of pure just agony, then after that it seems like i finally get comfortable again

and when your mid-week short runs are only like 5miles, makes for mostly suck

well, it's taper week for my first half marathon, and i feel terribly unprepared. vacations paired with weekend getaways every weekend and a busy schedule has really fucked with my training... hardcore.

didnt do a long run last weekend(may7-9), but did 10 miles, pretty uncomfortably the weekend before. and really, for some reason, 9 was ok the next week, but 10 fucked my world up for about 6 days afterward.. even walking was uncomfortable.

since no long run this weekend due to travel, did 6 today, going to do 3 wed, 2 thurs, race on sunday.

instead of 10(sun) rest mon, 4t/3w/2h.

idk.

at least the high the day of the run is only 72 degrees, so it should be comfortable.

really, i just have to beat my gf and ill be ok with my time.

LOL

also i just wore like dumb shoes to the gym since i was going to the pool but i really wanted to go get on a bike after swimming so next time i need to remember to bring better shoes.

Honestly, the lady made me stay... which at the time really pissed me off because I wasn't sure if it was from the heat or from my blood sugar. When it didn't go away after 5 minutes I kinda started panicking and got up to leave the room - when she told me to basically go back to my mat I could barely hear her and couldn't see her at all. When I turned back around I could see a little better but my legs almost gave out by the time I got to my mat. Then I laid down for about 5 minutes and felt better (that's when I realized it was definitely from the heat and not my sugars... if it was the latter I would've been unconscious at that point)

but NOW I feel good

^ I think I'm going to go every other Monday, because I can't afford $10 every week when I already pay for a gym! I will prob go to hot yoga one week then regular yoga (at LFF) the next week and so on. But besides the price, yeah it was pretty good

Honestly, NOT COOL. I know they don't like for people to leave the room, but ... UGH ... I just can't stand instructors like that. Though for your next class, you may want to give the instructor a heads up that you are diabetic and may need to step outside. That will prob help them be a bit more understanding.

Yesterday evening: 5-mile run in 40 minutes
This morning: 5-mile run in 38 minutes

The heat is kicking my booty. Florida summer has arrived. No more evening runs for me.
