Im pretty sure sidney lowe didn't have any control over his team finishing 1-14 from the field all of which were wide open shots, 2 on 1's etc. if you listened to Scott Wood in the post conference he told everyone that we didn't get in the space sidney set up for the players, we didn't do anything that he asked of the team and he said if we had been in the positions set up by the coach this wouldn't be happening and he can't understand why it keeps happening.

Javi sort of fooled me in to thinking he was an ACC caliber one... but I'm over that. He isn't. He's just too inconsistent. He hits some ridiculous shots but that is because he takes so many ridiculous shots. Never thought that I'd say that Farnold is the better player but he is right now.

CJ Williams has SIGNIFICANTLY regressed since the day he stepped on campus. You should make the most progress between your freshman and sophomore years, especially when you get playing time as a freshman. He has become much worse in every phase in the game. I don't really know what is up with that.

His stat-line tonight was embarrassingly bad to look at.

Hyatt was in my PE100 class back in the day. He used to take the elevator up to the track and then walk around it while we ran. Then he'd take the elevator back down. Ahhh the memories.

I have been reading the Wolf Web for years. After four years of watching poorly coached basketball teams I have paid the five dollars to express my dissaproval of coach Lowe. Sidney is trying hard but some guys just dont have it. Watch his post game interviews. All he did was blame the players and praise Vasquez. I have a news flash Vasquez owns us. Thats sad. Heck any team that plays us owns us. Why was JAvi and MAys guarding Vasquez? It was apparent that Javi and Mays couldn't guard him last year. Josh Davis should have been put on Vasquez; he should have been in his face when Grevis was on the bench during time outs! Basketball denial is the first rule in defending someone who's hot. Lowe is a joke. The fact that a recruiting class is saving his job is a joke. Were NC State; did anybody listen to the David Thompson ceremony? We have tradition and National Championships. Losing like this shouldn't be accepted on any level. We are the laughing stock in the ACC, and the ACC isn't very good this year. When ur answer to the problem is; "we cant get a good coach to come here" and wait till next year BC "he's bringing in some stud recruits" your program isn't in good shape. It all starts at the top. Fowler should have been gone four years ago. Our leaders accept this pile of garbage and keep us hanging on for next year. As long as Sidney and Fowler are here we will suck. I guess next year finishing .500 in the ACC and playing in the NIT is worth keeping Sid around.

For what it's worth, I think we have to support Lowe and Company or at least not completely hate on them for the rest of the year. As much as we have sucked, across athletics in general, I think we have to give a base level of support for next year. Not because he deserves it, but because it's the only thing we can do. We know he is going to be here, so we can only hurt ourselves but not showing some support. Next year is really it. If we don't make improvements, and pretty drastic ones then we can scrap Lowe and start over. However, for now we only hurt ourselves by generating a negative outlook for our program. He doesn't deserve it, but I don't think we have an option right now...

Lowe Looking for Leadership
With just a few games remaining on the schedule, Sidney Lowe is still looking for vocal leadership.

After going over the film of NC State’s loss to Maryland, the thing that stood out to Lowe was how quickly his team got discouraged when the game tilted in the Terrapins favor.

“I showed them the film of our body language two minutes into the second half,” Lowe said. “No one is really talking to each other.”

“It wasn’t [being] tired, we had a nice rotation going. It was more not having someone to pull the guys in.”

Most of the talking all season long has been coming from the bench. Lowe can often be heard whistling, yelling and pleading with his players from the sidelines.

“I’m the one verbally talking and that’s a major factor,” Lowe said. “You need someone to turn around and get guys together and pump them up.”

Lowe pointed to one particular instance in the game when Scott Wood made a steal and converted in transition. He expected the team to be energized by that and vocally talking about getting another stop and another fast break. But none of that happened.

“It’s the personality of some of our guys – and I’m not saying you need a rah-rah guy but you need someone other than the coach that’s right there in the trenches with you to get you going,” Lowe said.

That’s not to say there isn’t leadership among his players, Lowe said. The fourth-year coach pointed to Dennis Horner, who has played through various injuries and ailments all season, as a player who has led by example as opposed to vocally.

“That’s his way,” Lowe said. “He doesn’t like to come out because of an injury – he will play hurt. I think other guys see that – but that’s his way of showing his leadership.”

Lowe had worries about someone emerging as a vocal leader as soon as practice began, a concern he voiced to the media during his first press conference of the year. Back in October he was optimistic that one of his players would evolve into the role.

“I was concerned but I was hoping that someone would emerge,” Lowe said.

No one has, though, leaving the Pack rudderless at times on the court even as Lowe tries to direct from the bench.

“Most teams have a guy or two that get the guys going,” Lowe said. “Vazquez does that for Maryland.”

But despite being mired in a losing streak and unable to find any consistency on the court, Lowe remained optimistic on Friday. He told reporters that morning practice had gone well, praising his team for their ability to bounce back.

“This group will not allow themselves to be down. They’ll be hurt after the ball game but the next day in practice they’ll be back.”

NOTE: Howell Improving
Lowe said that Howell participated in practice on Friday but did not do any contact activities. He was able to ‘get a few shots up’ but his status against Wake Forest is unknown.

“He shot a little bit today,” Lowe said. “It’s definitely better than it was but it’s going to be a game day decision.”
