What sucks even more is if you are manning the machine gun on the top of a tank and you see a mine but the driver doesn't. You don't have enough time to type "MINE!" so you try to get away but the explosion of the tank blowing up gets you anyway.

like I was telling ops today - it really annoys me when a friendly is near an enemy vehicle and I blow up the vehicle...... some idiot (not using C4) just running near a vodnik or something when I have a 203 or anti-tank kit to use.. once the vehicle blows up it kills the teammate and gives me a TK + quick punish from an idiot....

I swear Karkand is the worst map for it too. Yesterday I was playing right before Breezer joined me. I mined the two main roads coming from the US base into the city. Of course, a whole Humvee full of morons decides to race laps around those roads and hits one of my mines. I got punished for 4 TKs at the same damn time.

I was kick/banned from two servers last night, both on Karkand, thanks to idiots who are attracted to red skulls and a couple who don't understand what it means when the game tells them "Artillery, your area!!".

I don't see what everyone's fascination with Karkand is. Sure it is a good map, but I don't think it is any better than the others. There are servers all over the place that are 24/7 Karkand. I lose interest in the game if it goes for more than 3 rounds on the same map.

karland is nice bc of the close combat. its an excellent mape for infantry. some people hate armor and air.

special ops > support for surviving in a fight agaisnt infantry. Ops is so accurate that you dont need a ton of bullets to get the job done.

It's a fun map, if your team isn't full of idiot (which is usually not the case). It's fun because one person can hold down a base against a full-on assault if they know what they are doing. The layout of the city is great to setting up flanking ambushes without getting noticed. Armor is easy to take out thanks to all of the hiding spots and corners to run around.

However, usually it's just a clusterfuck of people standing around getting torn apart by tanks and APCs. I like to play engineer on the map because the shotgun is actually effective there. Usually you run into people after going around a corner and the shotgun is great for those close encounters. Sadly an engineer is rarely effective thanks to the aforementioned "Red Skull = 1UP" club...


I have to say my favorite map is Sharqi. It's a perfect mix of CQB, ground vehicles, and helicopters.

Hey now I hate CS but Karkand is definitely my favorite map

Of course I come from playing AA hardcore so I would be thrilled with NO vehicles of any kind. Sure I spent a few days whoring stats in a tank... it is far too easy to go 40 - 0 or near those stats on Karkand in most random server. It just gets old... I don't mind the way it is setup though on Karkand. I kinda wish they would remove the LAV though and have just 2 tanks.

Personally I have high hopes for their expansion. If there are a lot of CQB style maps.. more infantry based.. I will have a lot more fun. I have been forcing myself to learn how to fly helicopters lately just so I can get involved in the vehicle clusterfuck that some of these maps are.. some just leave no fun for infantry and I really hate server hopping in this game (painful browser and load times).

Sooooo... sometimes I'll have fun in a 24/7 Karkand server for awhile. After 5 or 6 rounds I might go to Sharqi or Mashtuur or find a server running those on rotation if I still want infantry fights. And fuck spec ops... I hate that class and wish I could get my gun unlock back. For infantry fights I would rather have medic or assault. The 203 whoring is FAR too easy.. and you get armor like support. With a couple of support guys on the map dropping ammo and supplie crates you can just go nuts with 203 shells....

yeah all these idiotic things are why we sorta intend to band together via xfire and ventrillo so we can play on the same servers

I can't tell you how much easier rounds go when your squad is full of 4 or 5 friends or just simply people who are not total idiots. Anytime ivilkee (mike) and I get together we don't even use voice comm at all (yeah even when my headset works) because I know he is smart enough not to fuck up and he know what to do. Requires very little communication other than getting targets from a commander and hitting page up

so ive been unable to play this game for awhile now b/c of some problem that i mentioned earlier in this thread. anyways, heres the dilemma....

ive tried everything, nothing can fix it. so my options i believe are to reformat and reinstall or to wait it out and hope that the next patch (to be released late aug i think) will fix it. thats a long wait. and it could all be for nothing. i donno what to do. its torture.

yea the online keys will only allow u to install the game and play the single player missions. u need a unique, registered key for multiplayer.

I cracked today.. lol

90% of my deaths in helicopters are from jets just running into me - not shooting me down... when I died 3 times in a row relatively quick due to people ramming me I just decided to take any jet or helicopter I could find and run into everything....

sad though is the fact that I actually enjoyed blowing up everything from helicopters to tanks with a blackhawk by just running into them.. same with those pesky LAVs who think they are anti-air.. ahh... glad I got that out of my system

It didn't matter if it was a tdubber or just someone in general - I spent 3 rounds on that server getting nothing but rammed into in order to bring me down.. some jet would spent 5minutes giving me passes with rockets failing to hit me at all and then WHAM... he gives up and just hits me with the jet.

Ok.. time for ANOTHER gripe.. I was kicked from two different servers today. One for hacking (yay my first hack kick from Karkand) and one for the admin just not liking me for my uber commander skills lol.. *sigh*

At least I don't really get upset and I can laugh off this game.. no competition involved - just random fun

^^ Getting 100+ pts per round in Karkand... 30+ kills and around 5 deaths and capturing some flags.. nothing amazing really just running around using assault and anti-tank - the commander was nice enough to help me out a few times since I was squad leader by dropping some well timed supply drops and I had a couple of 1 vs. 5 battles that I won by luck or skill.. I'll take either so long as they die. Was enough to get accused I guess.

I was just being real serious because I was close to getting my new rank and unlocked weapon.. and since there was someone hogging the tank I went with the 203 whore method for a few rounds. The server was total cake.. I think I could of done just as well with a freaking pistol and knife only there it was so bad.

After this I was around 500 short from my next rank so I decided to change servers and just go do the commander thing and relax. Again.. on a different server on Karkand.. I guess the admin(s) didn't like me being commander on either team because I won 3 times on one team - got kicked - rejoined the same server and changed teams (admin took commander on team I left) and I took commander on the opposing team who had not won a round in the last 8 attempts. We won 2 in a row then I was banned.... I only killed 2 people with guns during then but had around 20-30 artillery. So I was definitely not considered hacking - just some pissed off admin the second time I guess.

I've had better runs in half the time I did tonight and was never considered a cheat/hack.. but damn.. the server I was commanding in was convinced some other guy in there was a total hacker (didn't really look like it to me).. people must be on a hacking scare if they die tonight *shrug*

yeah there are some shitty ways to grief in this game - but the good side of it is if you don't crack or get too pissed you can just do something else... either change servers... change how you are playing on that given server (go from air to ground, etc)... enough stuff to keep ya busy regardless
