Surprised no one said anything but Joey Devine is back up in the bigs... hopefully he has a few more grand slams left in him for this 3 gamer...

why? because the braves pulled him up waaaaayyyy before he was ready? because when they pulled him up he had only 2 pitches, one of which he couldn't consistently control? because instead of letting him learn in the minors how to pitch to major leaguers, they threw him into the fire and he got shelled?

i think it shows he's resilient enough to take a beating, hit the minors and make a comeback. hopefully he's successful.

uh...no

obviously, i'm surprised that he's still around after he gave up like 4 game winning grand slams in 4 games. yeah, all of that probably was because he was thrown into the shit too soon. but, it still happened, and i'm surprised he's even still around after that shitty introduction to the majors.

^ just a little lesson on baseball economics for you... its bad business to get rid of a first round draft pick who you spent a truck load of money getting to sign because of a couple homeruns he gave up when he shouldnt have been in the majors anyway. devine will be successful because he has dynamite stuff and he has been doing very good in AA ball in mississippi this year... 2-2 record with a 1.61 era and 10 saves.

^exactly. You don't get rid of a kid (especially if he's your first round pick) just because he doesn't do well his first time up to the majors, whether he's up too early or not. He's obviously got talent. Baseball isn't like other sports.

i was never talking about the braves getting rid of him.

what i meant by him still being around was i'm surprised that he's still a viable option for the braves and that he didn't psychologically implode after his first season in the bigs.

one thing we can all agree on is that he had some shitty luck his first time up, lol. His first game, he pitched a solid first inning, then cox kept him in and he gave up a homer in extras to lose it. Then in the playoffs he got rocked in that 18 inning game or w/e to lose it.

A fag whose team is missing 2/5 of it's rotation, it's second best relief pitcher, 2 people from it's everyday day lineup, has a cleanup hitter that can't hit the broadside of a barn, and still up by 2 games (L column) in the division despite not beating to be able to beat the Braves...

Crying?

I have nothing to cry about. Best record in the NL, first place, and what will certainly be another NL East (not that it really matters.. a pennant and nothing less is acceptable this year) title... Plus the Mets will get the biggest acquisition of the season around the trading deadline.. Pedro Martinez.

^^lol, don't even TALK about a cleanup hitter that can't hit the broad side of the barn right now.

And pitching problems?? Besides smoltzy and Hudson, we don't have anything in the starting rotation that you can call "reliable".

I don't know why you guys are picking on NyM410. He is not a troll and knows his baseball. Just because he is a Mets fan doesn't make him a fag.

Anyway I got this from an email my dad sent today:

Quote :
"I hope the Braves can beat up on the Mets again tonight and maybe Barry
Bonds will break his leg or arm or something..."

Ha ha my dad kicks ass.

I have always thought that a tipped ball caught by the catcher should be considered an out just like any other foul ball

i guess the reason why they don't is because it isn't as obvious at times.

Eh, doesn't bother me. I can give it right back too... I just got home and saw Perez threw a ton of pitches through 6... no runs, but was he wild?

Braves sucked ass last night - defense looked like shit (Prado not covering the bag and Chipper letting Delgado's ball go under his glove). The home plate umpire was horribly inconsistent and I have never seen so many called third strikes (all three of Wagner's were looking).

I wish Bobby wouldn't try and play matchups so much - Prado and Woodward looked like ass trying to hit Perez/Wagner and I'd rather just let Johnson and Thorman gets some hacks against lefties. If they are ever going to be regulars, they need to learn to hit lefthanders.

Hopefully Smoltz can come back tonight and shut down the Mets.
