I havent listened to the new album but I don't care. M.I.A. bores me for some reason.

^^^ And thanks for that M83 link. Can't wait until the true follow up to Before the Dawn Heals Us

The new Enon record!

They were featured on Real World Austin, but I love them anyways.

I had no idea some of the dudes in Band of Horses were in Carissa's Wierd. I love that band, but Everything All the Time never did a thing for me. Maybe I'll try this one when I can find a link that isn't to shitty M4As.

I've only listened to the new BOH all the way through once, but I really dig it. I can definitely pick up on the Southeastern vibe... seems like it'd be the perfect album to listen to while riding around sourthern country roads at dusk in the fall. I love the first track.

^ srsly... if you have itunes, download it and right click, convert to mp3... how hard is that?

this article talks about the new BOH:
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/44275-bohs-bridwell-talks-youtubers-new-album-sex-clubs

at the beginning they're talking about this show that i was at... it was pretty awkward and i guess it changed some people's opinion of them to negative. they're great live and i can see why he got mad, he just didn't handle it well.

I wasn't bagging on you, dude. Unless you were the one who originally ripped the album as M4As. I really hate itunes, and even if I were to covert the files to MP3s, it would still have the same sound quality. Which doesn't sound very good (to me).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't m4a have better sound quality than mp3 at the same bit rate?

Yes, that guy is retarded. You can empirically show that m4a better encodes the original signal at the same bitrate.

If someone thinks mp3 sounds better, it's because of
- personal bias against Apple
- psychological reasons
- an inability to distinguish good sound from bad
- bad audio equipment

Furthermore, m4a is an open standard that anything can play nowadays.

being a guitarist who is into metal I can appreciate that stuff. but at the same time, the reason I tend to listen to artists like Dillinger, Between the Buried and Me, Red Chord etc. over something like this is the fact that nothing but tech parts gets repetitive very fast to me. I enjoy it better when people can incorporate some crazy technicalities into their songs without the entire song being like that.

that being said that was some very technically solid music, but I couldnt listen to it on a regular basis.

lol, no The Faceless or Necrophagist?

lol. Yeah it can get repetitive after a while. Anyways he wrote all of these songs by writing all 12 notes out on a circle much like a clock and picking random patterns.

Re. Blotted Science

Some of that stuff reminded me of Meshuggah's style.

I agree with CalledToArms though. It's better to limit technical stuff.

Recently I've been starting to listen to Dream Theater. I was a little disappointed with Systematic Chaos as most of the songs started to sound the same.
