If I had to pick one single record from their career to say it is most-similar too, it has to be In Rainbows. I mean they are still different records, but it's in that ballpark.
Anyone else get a Zeppelin vibe on The Numbers?

finally listened to this today. a big shrug for me. it's fine, but i couldn't tell you what any of the songs sounded like aside from "true love waits," which shouldn't count.
it's interesting that in rainbows is a point of comparison for folks, because that's the other "whatever" for me in the catalog. 5/15/2016 2:49:25 AM |

that's interesting. I'm not that into this album so far. Nothing particularly memorable. But In Rainbows is perhaps my favorite Radiohead album 5/15/2016 8:54:15 AM |

Album is now on Spotify. Had a listen this morning, and found it to be pretty below average for Radiohead. No great songs that make me want to replay. But its Radiohead. I'll listen to anything they put out. 6/17/2016 3:27:44 PM |

Hadn't read anything about the new album but saw it was on Spotify so I gave it a listen. As a big Radiohead fan it is pretty meh to me. I mean it's fine and I'll listen to it some more but there is pretty much nothing that stands out. 6/18/2016 5:06:20 PM |

really not trying to be that guy, but, how big of a Radiohead fan can you really be if you weren't aware of this album until now? 6/18/2016 8:24:12 PM |

No, I knew about it and that it was out. I had played through the singles released on Spotify plenty of times, I was just waiting for it to be released in full on Spotify before giving it a listen. What I meant was I hadn't read any reviews or commentary on it. Didn't want my opinion to be swayed based on what others thought. Though it seems that my opinion is about in line with others.

Really good addition to the Radiohead canon. I'm sure I've already listened to this more than TKOL. I like the first half much more, especially those first three tracks. Daydreaming and Decks Dark are my favorites. I'm glad we get a Johnny solo on Identikit. I kinda hate the "Broken hearts make it rain" line as much as "The raindrops". I didn't get the box set so I'll have to catch those B-sides on youtube I guess. 7/21/2016 8:19:41 AM |

This album has really been a grower. I think it comes out ahead TKOL and Amnesiac. It's a pretty coherent album and the orchestration choices are interesting and good. It's a real showcase for Johnny. 7/23/2016 9:30:41 AM |

Two Bsides in the box set are Spectre and Ill Wind. Spectre is still a solid song but I can see it not really fitting in the album, especially since it was released in Jan. Ill Wind is a usual strong Bside, Thom's voice is great (reminds me of another song but can't place it) and good interplay between the drumming and bass. 10/13/2016 11:54:41 PM |
