the Braves must be cursed. Chipper hits a pitch in batting practice that bounces off the top of the cage and hits him in the face. Now he is out for at least tonight's game.

^^^ I saw it on ESPN so you probably don't have to pay. But I'll try and email it to you for 1000 dollar bucks.

God damn Chip, you've only hit BP like 200,000 times in your life, don't hit them straight up.

And I guess Soriano is out for a while? I haven't seen anything, but I dropped him on fantasy a couple days ago...good move I guess.

2 of 3 from the angels was not what i expected this weekend from the braves. gg team. and if they're showcasing b.jones for a trade, it's paying off well so far [knock on wood]! either way, it's good for us.

And Campillo pitched a great game where the only runs he gave up were on a HR where the guy had to reach and hit it with 1 hand to even put the bat on it.

Over the past few years, nothing has killed Braves momentum like a three game series in Colorado.

Tonight is the first game of a three game series in Colorado.

according to the AJC email, Hampton is gonna be pitching again soon for the Gulf Coast Braves; if the over/under was 2 games before his next injury, what do you take?

also, gonzo comes off the DL and will be in Texas eligible to pitch on wednesday. Kotsay will be in Texas as well after some additional treatment from his back specialist. all good things to see/hear.

I'll take the over. He'll go 2 games down there, get called up to ATL, pitch one game and then be done for the year with a quad tear, mark it down.

I've always liked Youk and Lester would be a nice addition to the rotation..it'd be nice to have another lefty.

^^makes somewhat sense.....youk could play first, crisp center and Lester would be a good addition to the rotation

thinking about it, i would be all for that trade.

I think Olney printed something along these lines today or yesterday, but I'm not an insider, so I can't confirm that~

Youkilis is having a great season, if his play holds up like that, he would be a fantastic addition (also, wasn't he the one in the scuffle with ManRam? - could chemistry issues facilitate a deal like this?). Lester is also playing great, those 2 alone could help turn this team around. With Crisp, I'm kinda on the fence about, I'm not sure he'd help us, but I do know that Boston wanted to shed his salary earlier. I like Youk and Lester, but it'd be nice to get a prospect (not necessarily a world-beater or anything) instead of Crisp. I'd still do this trade though, in a heartbeat!

I'm of the opinion Tex SHOULD be traded, he hasn't really helped us this year, and considering what we gave up for him, Wren should just call it a loss and get something else back. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Tex won't re-up with us.

Looking at this from Boston's point of view, it's kind of a loss for them. They do have outfield and pitching depth, but even so, it seems like alot to give up 3 proven ML players for (possibly) a rental. However, there could be something to be said about Boston wanting Tex to keep him away from NY

I remember the Red Sox were trying to give us Crisp for Andruw last year. I wonder if there's something about him that the Braves front office really likes. Either way, that's a killer deal for us and I would be all over it.

as much as that trade would be pretty awesome, assuming youkilis can hit like that without a green monster and it's not completely a fluke, I hate both him and crisp. Mostly I hate youkilis for his goatee, and Crisp for being a cocky bitch for no reason when he's a fringe starter. Plus the Braves have a lot of OF prosepects, and I'd rather have them get some PT than Crisp who isn't all that good.

this is retarded. no way the redsox trade both lester and youkilis. they wouldnt add lester in a santana trade, what makes you think they would in a trade for an overrated 1B

wow. I don't know how I've never heard that with how much the Sox are on TV.. had to Google it to see if you meant Youkilis. I guess they dropped it when his OBP wasn't all that great in the ML

Well I learned on mlbtraderumors this morning that Jayson Stark/Ken Rosenthal both indicated Tex is not available. Squashes all those rumors/talk up there^.

But in Stark's same post, he mentions:
Quote :
"So they're still looking to add pitching, not subtract cleanup hitters. "

and in both Stark's AND mlbTR's same posts, they mention that "Erik Bedard is now officially on the market."

so i say get Bedard RIGHT NOW. If Wren is implying that the Braves are still in it by immediately shooting down offers for Tex, then he needs to be a buyer. One of our immediate weaknesses is pitching. Bedard IMO has just become the best pitcher available, despite not being an ace in Seattle. I don't see why Seattle wouldn't want outfield help, since they gave up Adam Jones in the Bedard deal. Give em Brandon Jones and some other stuff, maybe lillibridge and a couple of prospects. This is just all my opinion, I haven't seen any bloggers mention this at all, but wouldn't it make sense?

Stark mentions Freel being popular, and being connected to many teams, including the Braves. I wonder if we're gonna pull the trigger on a couple of deals this year and really try for a title. Randy Winn has been brought up this past week, and I wouldn't mind him, provided we didn't have to give up much. I say it's a safe bet we'll end up with an OF before the trade deadline, just don't know for sure who that will be.

The Randy Winn rumors are the most bizarre thing I've heard yet. I can't believe that a team with a front office as smart as the Braves would give up anything more than maybe a season ticket for a 34-year old outfielder currently hitting .297/.360/.444, very slightly above his career numbers.

They're not shopping Teixiera around yet because they still believe (rightly, I think) that we still have a good shot at contending this year. They're only 6 games back with a good run differential and an impossible-to-sustain record in 1-run games. If they're 10 games back by the end of July, maybe it's a different story.

We definitely need pitching though. I'd be all for going for Bedard, even if we have to give up Jones or Lillibridge.

4-19 in one run games now! Imagine if we could just be decent on the road OR in 1 run games. Reverse things we would be the best team in the majors. Instead we have the worst road record but yet still only 5 games out. I will keep hope until we fall 10 out. I think it could get interesting! go bravos.

oh boy, we are headed to canada. Can we at least win a game away from home? On other news if philly can keep losing and the braves can steal 1 or 2 from the jays we play philly next week. We could sweep and be tied. He I'm hoping here!

Blaine Boyer will throw well because the Braves are not losing/tied. He's fine as long as it's not a crucial situation where he can completely blow the game. But yay I get a fantasy save from Lidge! Because the Braves won't come back..
