Strictly speaking, mcaain's rules about "telegraphing punches" are not holy edicts that should be unquestioned. I frankly don't see why either candidate has to be against the other on the pakistan border thing in the real world. In campaign world, Obama is taking the position to look tough. Mccain is taking the position just to differentiate himself somehow from obama.

I personally would favor acting autonomously to get Osama, but both approaches to Pakistan and bin laden can work.

To me, Obama came across as: "This is what will happen when I become President. This is the way things will be. This is what will happen to you."

McCain came across as: "We're going to work to try to do a, b, and c to make x, y, and z happen."

I'd rather have someone tell me that they're going to try to do something rather than tell me exactly how things are going to be, especially when I don't agree with most of the things they say will happen.

None of it really matters, but I thought McCain won tonight. His answers were more thoughtful and i thought he did a good job of making the case that Obama's foreign policy views really do sound naive.

Either way this won't win him any states and probably won't change the fact Obama is the next President.

I thought it was pretty even, but I'd give a slight edge to McCain, mostly because Obama went over a lot of the time. Most of their points I've heard before or read in blogs. It'll be interesting to see what the independent analysts have to say about some of their points.

the cbs poll of "uncommitted voters" are also the most likely to NOT VOTE in the election

HOWEVER

im sure obama's local affiliates in every district will be organizing mass transportation or bussing for black voters in predominantly black regions
