damn eric, shit like this (not necessarily my sex life, but my personal life) is why i do 100% of my personal computing through my home PC. i bet all my ip addresses on here are the same (except from maybe one hit last week when i was testing a new remote desktop)

try to find a decent vpn with encryption and set the connection to home to look like its under control of a virus

fuck snooping, especially by the boss. the ONLY folder's i ever snoop on when using an unfamiliar computer is /myMusic, /mp3, etc. i wish there was a way to sue dat ass

I have a friend who tunnels into his home computer from work, and routes pretty much everything through that.

i do, i just emailed myself my standard company desktop and the BMP logos from the my computer info.... just made my computer look like all the others

there are a few things that give it away, but the only people there who would tell are definitely doing the same thing.

ive still got a tunnel to a router in the roof of some building out on i40 that they they a big antenna on. i could probably get assigned credentials!!1

they put it up in march.... it its still up, i can wardrive it or just login from home.

people with lots of computer access could run around the net under any id they wanna go by. its gonna be impossible to convict hacking soon, even people caught red handing. the hackers are finally winning. they always saiid the war on drugs would outlast their struggle

well some of the IMs that she has copies of were us talking about how unfairly and ILLEGALLY she was treating one of our other coworkers. basically she wanted the chick gone, but she didn't fire her because she didn't want to pay the unemployment. so in her exact words to us and other coworkers, she said she planned to "make her life a living hell at work until she quits". I can almost guarantee that those IMs will be omitted when she turns in her "evidence" into the ESC, and I plan to bring that up in the hearing if it makes it that far.

^^sounds like he never got a proper warning, and it sounds like he has a good case against her. At the very least, like he said, it should help the other lady she fired to collect unemployment since they are trying to block it.

This other chick has a REALLY good case. I mean, ours is sketchy considering the types of conversations we were having over IM. But the pregnant chick never even used IM. The reasons listed for firing her were "checking personal e-mail and personal websites during business hours." She was, however, given a written warning a couple months ago so who knows. We were given no such warning.

But it is fact that EVERYONE in that office checks their personal e-mail at work, and the secretary sits on MySpace all day long. Shit, she was even doing a web-assign up there one day when I walked by.

^oh.. well damn... if they really wanna block it, they can definitely use that against her, she might still win though.. they are usually inclined to grant the person unemployment unless they really did something bad.

The only update I can think of is that we have changed our relationship statuses (is that a word?) on Facebook.

I am waiting to hear about a job that is actually way better than the one I had. Should hear tomorrow or Wednesday, and hopefully be back to work by the first week in March. She still hasn't even gotten an interview, but I have a much stronger sales resume than she does.

Our boss denied our unemployment, of course, so we both appealed. Even if I get back to work I plan to fight it, because they will owe me about $2k by that point.

Update.

I got my denial letter from the ESC stating I was terminated for "continual use of company property for personal internet and e-mail usage".

I just noticed that two of my former co-workers (both still employed at the company) are on Facebook RIGHT NOW in the office. Should I take screenshots with timestamps and use it in my appeal?

Figured I would give you guys another update.

I have an appointment with an attorney that specializes in unemployment claims. He is going to help us with the appeal. Also we have a former employee that is going to be a witness regarding the constant internet usage by ALL employees, including one employee that constantly looked at porn while at work and was never fired for it. The former employee that is going to be my witness left on her own terms, so they cant just discount her testimony as "disgruntled employee".

They denied mine and the other 2 employees' claims. So we have a week to file an appeal, which we already did. Now we wait until a hearing date is set. Usually the hearings are over the phone.

But the funny part is I have compiled a ton of evidence in the meantime. I have several screencaps of current employees on Facebook during work hours. And I have printed off several e-mails that were sent to my personal account from their personal e-mail accounts during business hours, just to further prove that EVERYONE uses the company internet for personal use but the 3 of us were singled out.
