no, they also had to arrest the fools who brought the tents and wouldn't remove them.
Quote : | "And they could have just as easily cuffed them and removed them without spraying them." |
not with the fools linking their arms together and refusing to move. the idiot protestors escalated the situation, the police finished it.

so now upholding basic accepted laws is "overreaching government"? Would the government be overreaching if it tried to kick me off of your lawn where I pitched a tent with 60 of my buddies? Would it be overreaching if it tried to get me out of the way of your driveway so you could leave to go to work? Would it be overreaching if it tried to get me and 500 of my buddes out of the way so you could walk into your workplace?11/22/2011 2:42:51 PM |

i'm not saying they can't protest. I am saying that they escalated the situation by being douchebags. You can't protest by putting up a tent on gov't property, though, that's for sure.
keep in mind, though, that what you quoted was my response to someone else saying "the police could have easily cuffed them." No, the police couldn't have done so, and it was specifically due to the protestors' actions. The occupy dumbasses can sit down on the ground and throw a tantrum, but they shouldn't be surprised when the police respond to that, either. 11/22/2011 3:24:49 PM |

if you're talking about the UC Davis incident specifically, no one was "throwing a tantrum." it was just a row of people sitting silently with linked arms.

that's fine. but Civil Disobedience also doesn't mean you can't be arrested. and the pepper spray was meant as the lowest form of force before resorting to physically removing the dumbasses. it's like you aren't reading the thread at all. let me quote it for you from the previous page:
Quote : | "Like I said, the occupy dumbasses know how to manipulate the situation and are doing a damned good job of it. The police were damned if the do, damned if they don't." |
also, comparing these dumbasses to the Civil Rights era is downright insulting to the Civil Rights movement

if you want to talk "damned if they do, damned if they don't," how about the protesters having the option to do nothing and allow business as usual in the country to continue, or unite peacefully and have a burning agent sprayed in their face.
bottom line, those protesters did nothing to warrant getting pepper-sprayed.11/22/2011 4:35:43 PM |

yeah. losing your job because you were put in a no-win situation. yep. not a damned situation at all.

except put up tents that they knew they couldn't put up and protest without getting a permit and then refuse to leave and do so in a provocative manner. and you are STILL acting like pepper spray is the worst thing in the world and isn't the lowest bit of force that could have been used, lower than physical contact.

The TIME magazine covers are proof that there is collusion among numerous sources to prevent even the idea of revolution from being considered as possible within the United States.
Saying that Occupy is a Marxist movement is like saying that Wal-Mart does more harm than good to poor communities. It's taking one thing you don't understand and applying it to something you don't like in order to make it appear to be wrong.
Marx was incredibly accurate in his explanations of class struggle. The bourgeoisie is getting smaller as more and more people are pushed down into the proletariat. Capitalism does have built-in contradictions that will result in its elimination.
And remember, the bourgeoisie themselves were a revolutionary class before they were the ruling class.

Yes, let's blame the media, because people are incapable of getting news from any other source except from the US edition of Time magazine. People have no one to blame but themselves if they wish to be uninformed.
