They have beaten the same number of teams with winning records as the Packers and Bengals

That was fucking amazing, couldn't be happier for Cam and the Panthers. Watching him run around yelling at the Seattle crowd was the highlight of the season so far. Hey Richard, tell us what the Seahawk's record is?

Glad Olsen got that last TD because he was about 3 total yards away from 3 TDs.

I take it Cam had an uneven performance overall but having mainly just watched the last quarter or so and the success so far this year, I'm back to being as much a Cam believer as I've been since his rookie yr

Sure Seattle's record doesn't say it, but they are still a damn good team. This was one of the best wins in recent memory for the Panthers (especially playing IN Seattle) and probably Cam's best win

So the answer is "No" then

No shame in being undefeated against teams with losing records. Just ask the Packers and Bengals, right?

Are you out of your fucking mind? The Seahawks are TERRIBLE this year. They have the exact same record as the 49ers this year (another TERRIBLE team) and they should be 1-5. And this is coming from a 49ers fan...

^^ Top 10 in DVOA and they've had a lead in the 4th quarter in every one of their losses

TERRIBLE teams don't have those credentials

Apparently records and opponents are meaningless on TWW.

It's all about eye tests and hunches. 5-0 teams against losing teams are unstoppable and the Seahawks are a top notch team, even though they're 2-4 (everyone knows they should be 1-5). Can't wait for the playoffs!

There are only 11 teams in the NFL with winning records

I guess there are no good teams since all of the 11 winning teams have just beat up on the 21 .500 or worse teams!

Look, the Panthers are going to make the playoffs, no doubt. They've played a super soft schedule up to this point, and it's not looking like it's going to get much harder. But beating a shitty, dysfunctional Seattle team isn't really a cause for celebration. It's not the same team from the past two years. I mean you can be happy that you're 5-0 (I certainly would be), but I'd restrain my jubilation until you actually win a playoff game. State went 4-0 and everyone went nuts, but look what's happened since...

lol at that analogy. that would be like if the Panthers' first 4 games were against college teams, instead of professional athletes

if beating Seattle in Seattle is so easy, how come the Panthers are the first team to do it since the Cowboys over a year ago?

i guess if we went 16-0, we'd have to restrain our jubilation until we won a playoff game though

IDK, ask the 1-5 Lions who should've won a few weeks ago. Do you think the Lions are a great team? I sure don't. That was the biggest botched call I've seen during the regular season since the game that was gifted to the Seahawks a few seasons ago with guest refs against the Packers.

And actually, I think it's a pretty good analogy. Beating shitty teams and being undefeated is great until you run into teams that have played better ones than you have (UL, VT). The sad thing is that both of those teams that State lost to still suck.

[Edited on October 19, 2015 at 12:34 AM. Reason : whoops, thought the Lions actually won two games. silly me]

you sound like a bitter 49ers fan who simply hates Seattle if you honestly think it's a good analogy

there is no such thing as a shitty team in the NFL, certainly not on the level of comparing some 1-AA schools to Power 5 conference teams. The Browns almost beat the Broncos today. The Bears almost beat the Packers this year. The undefeated Bengals almost lost to the worst team in the NFL (the Seahawks).

I can only assume that you're butthurt that your franchise QB can't pass and your whole defense retired last year.

guilty as charged. I watched a really successful team that made it to the NFC title game three years running and was a play away from a SB title implode over the course of a season and a half, and now they're the laughing stock of the NFL. What I'm seeing in Seattle is eerily similar. Lots of dysfunction. Maybe Seattle doesn't have as terrible of an owner as the 49ers, but Pete Carroll is a shady guy, and I don't see him sticking around for very long.

And FWIW, I've never liked Colin Kaepernick. He's pretty dumb and I hope they trade him.

Seriously, enjoy being 5-0 right now, but I wouldn't hold much stock in beating Seattle today. They aren't the same team anymore and it shows.

If we're going to play the "if game" (and I'll admit I started it), they should be 1-5, not 3-3. Why is everyone pretending like they 'won' that game against Detroit. It was a fucking joke. Absolutely horrendous call.

In their last seven games, they SHOULD be 1-6 (including that heartbreaking Super Bowl loss).

luckily for the Panthers, that's not likely to happen until the playoffs

If you beat Green Bay, I'll gladly eat crow though. In fact, if the Panthers even win 2/3 their next games, I won't have much to say, other than that I was was wrong.

I just think Seattle sucks. In fact, I think they suck so much they might actually lose to the 49ers next week...

If we beat Green Bay? Who has Green Bay beaten? 6 teams with losing records? They haven't beaten anybody either.

We'll need to beat a team with a winning record who has beaten a bunch of other teams with winning records. Oh wait, there aren't any teams like that in the entire NFL.

[Edited on October 19, 2015 at 1:18 AM. Reason : I like how it's 100% certain that the Lions would've actually scored after the penalty]

for everyone using the strength of victory argument against the Panthers:

NE - .448
Cin - .314
Den - .294
GB - .314
Car - .310

NE has the best and Denver has the worst; Cincy, GB, and the Panthers are effectively identical. so if you want to play the "Panthers haven't beaten anyone" card, neither has anyone else (except NE). except, as has been talked about to death, SOV is a somewhat flawed stat because the opponent's records include the losses to the team being analyzed. if the Panthers (or any of those teams) lose those games, they become the "best 0-6 team" for having such a "hard" schedule.

tl;dr: Panthers are undefeated so piss off

sherman and earl thomas are really good, don't get me wrong. but i counted at least 2 or 3 plays where the announcers sucked their dicks for making a great play, and then replay showed it was nothing more than a dropped pass where the DB didn't cause the drop at all.

5-0

fuck everybody else.

Funchess definitely redeemed himself with two huge grabs late. But damn, he's got to catch the easy ones. Reminds me a lot of Benjamin last year -- makes the amazing catch, drops the gimme.

Really? The team that was one bad pass away from winning the Superbowl sucks now? They lost no star players and added an All-Pro TE. Aside from their annual flukey game against the Rams, all the teams they've lost to are undefeated. Plus, 12th man and what not....

Anyway, I think they'll be fine and still grab a wildcard spot. The defense has too much talent to keep blowing leads, and Russell is making plenty of plays for the offense.

Seahawks clearly have issues, especially along the offensive line and with covering receivers/tight ends on seam routes, but they still have one of the most loaded rosters in the entire league. Writing them off at this point is incredibly shortsighted.

^^They don't have the same OL as last year, Lynch looks like Father Time finally caught up to him, and they lost Dan Quinn.

Think losing the DC and the OL play are the main reasons they've hit the fan. Kam's holdout definitely didn't help things, him being out of position cost them the last 2 games. Eifert and Olsen had huge games at Kam's expense.

Kam can lay the lumber with the best of em, but his coverage is shit, at least this season. Reminds me of old Cowboys Roy Williams.

I like the doubters though. The alternative is everyone sucking the Panthers' dicks. Like they did with the Cardinals before they went and lost to a 3rd string QB

Meh. They've got a bunch of division games left, and they'd pretty much have to go 9-1 the next 10 to assure they make the dance. That'd be near unprecedented territory if they made it in from 2-4.

they're 2 games behind Arizona and still get to play them twice

it really isn't that difficult to see how they can turn their season around

2-4 isn't that much different than 2-3, which is where we were after Week 5 in 2013

Wilson and Graham are clearly getting more accustomed to each other, so that'll be a pretty big boost

^^ THIS

I could see them MAYBE going 9-7 at best, but they've clearly got problems closing out games. Lots of locker room drama combined with losing usually doesn't mean a deep playoff run.
