so now that May's is transferring, what is the story with this Tashawn Mabry cat? Are we in the running? 4/22/2010 11:14:28 AM |

From what I've read on Pack Pride he may be making a visit sometime today. Now that Mays has transferred it opens up a scholarship, so unless Lowe would just want to save that scholarship then it is a real possibility Lowe would get Mabry regardless of what CJL does. 4/22/2010 11:16:38 AM |

i think it's a similar situation to Josh Davis..... Ferguson or Costner opened up an extra scholarship so we gave it to Davis 4/22/2010 11:28:25 AM |

Quote : | "Cothron, a 6’8, 210-pound forward, originally committed to N.C. State but backed out when rumors began to swirl of Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe’s dismissal." |
terrible terrible lies
Quote : | "I'm pretty sure the rumors that caused Cothron to decommit were that Leslie was going to commit, not that Lowe was going to get fired but whatever." |
on the right track but the real story is that Cothron has said over and over to coaches that he doesnt want to have to compete for a starting role as a freshman and he wants 30 + minutes. he wasnt going to get that here with Richard Howell playing so well. so he pouted.
the fact that he is as soft as krispy kreme and doesnt want to bang inside as a true 4 plus us preferring CJL anyways hurt his feelings and he also was upset about not getting the attention the other big recruits were getting. so he decommitted from State
the reason he is going to Auburn is a straight up business deal now with Southeast Elite. after decommitting from State, Lowe basically told him he was dropped and we have not been recruiting himsince. neither has any other school so Cothron turned to his old AAU mentors who got him in there and it should work out for him with a new coach. lol4/22/2010 11:41:39 AM |

http://www.zagsblog.com/2010/04/22/leslie-down-to-3-planning-uconn-visit/
Quote : | "C.J. Leslie is down to three schools and a decision is fast approaching.
The 6-foot-7 Leslie was supposed to visit Florida on Sunday following the Jordan Brand Classic in New York but that trip was cancelled after the Gators landed 6-7 big man Will Yeguete of Florida Air Academy and 6-8 power forward Cody Larson of Roosevelt H.S. (SD).
“No, they are not [in the mix],” said Lisa Leslie, C.J.’s mother. “I think it’s Kentucky, UConn and N.C. State.”
Leslie, the No. 4 power forward in the Class of 2010, hopes to visit UConn “probably within the next week or two,” Lisa said.
“Right now we’re just trying to work it out,” she added. “We might try to plan a visit to UConn. We’re trying to see if we could make it happen.”
As for Kentucky, Leslie is close friends with Kentucky commit Brandon Knight and said he is considering following him to the Bluegrass.
But Lisa Leslie said that wouldn’t necessarily be a deciding factor for her son.
“He’s really not saying,” she said. “He likes playing with Brandon. As far as that being a big factor, he hasn’t come out and told us that. He likes playing with Brandon, I’m not sure if he’s leaning in that direction. He just hasn’t said.”
Through it all, N.C. State could have the inside track because of Leslie’s relationship with head coach Sidney Lowe.
“He’s looking at N.C. State because he’s known Sidney Lowe for four or five years,” Lisa said. “He has a good relationship with him. I would say they are pretty high on the list.”
Asked if they were the favorites, she said: “I’m not sure. I just know that he really respects Sidney Lowe.”" |
Can't be bad...
*** And my bad BigEgo, I just saw that Wroten DID change UK to #1 on his everchanging "list" over UConn...

Teague to UK.
Say what you want about Calipari but until he gets taken down he is THE best recruiter in college basketball. They hand pick who they want at this point. When is the last time he was straight up beat for a recruit?
By the way with Teague and Gilchrist in the fold, I hope Doron Lamb likes the bench after one year... because that is where he'll be for those two kids.

For the LOLs. I can only imagine what our boards will look should Leslie commit to UK. I imagine something like that -- only PackPride will break out the lock and ban.
Also, UofL swears up and down that Jeff Teague (who has sucked in the NBA) just got signed to some ridiculous Nike deal -- though I'm not sure why that'd favor UK...

Mabry is the all-time leading scorer in his high school's history. The record was previously held by Phil Ford. Mabry was also tabbed as a Honorable Mention PARADE All-American. FWIW CJL was selected to the 2nd team and Ryan Harrow was selected to the 3rd team.
Mabry and Davis are two totally different players. Josh gets a lot of his points by crashing the glass and working hard down low. Mabry is a slasher and actually has a jump shot.

the quote form cjs mom makes me think he will go to kentucky. The way she emphasized his respect for Coach Lowe seems like a consolation and the fact that she even mentioned brandon knight scares the piss out of me. With that said if i were CJ i would have to go to State. he will be just another face in the crowd at uk or he can be a superstar in raleigh, his home town, one of the greatest cities in the USA. Quote : | "When NC State got the news that guard Julius Mays was transferring from the program they knew they had an open scholarship to use for 2010. One player they've been tracking for 3 years now is Rocky Mount wingman, Tashawn Mabry. Mabry is a 6'6 200 pound athlete who plays physical, aggressive and possess the skills to be a huge asset at the 3 spot for Sidney Lowe and company. On Thursday, Mabry was in Raleigh to visit the Wolfpack, meet with the coaches, tour the facilities and play a little open gym pick-up with some of the guys. After the visit we were able to catch up with Tashawn and talk to him about how it went and his plans for the coming year. Here is the interview.
PI: So how did your visit go today? What did you do? Mabry: "Pretty much i just went up there to get to know the guys, talk to the coaches and get to play open gym."
PI: So you got to play a little bit today with some of the current team, how did that go? Mabry: "Yeah it was nice to get out there and play and shoot around with the guys."
PI: Very nice. So what did the coaches tell you today and has anything changed now that it seems like there might be 2 scholarships available for the coming season? Mabry: "Right now pretty much they were saying that they have two scholarships and they want me and CJ to come. I don't know what he's going to do but I'm getting a pretty good feel with the coaches and the staff and it should work out before the next week or two."
PI: So was CJ up at the Dail Center playing with you guys today? Mabry: "Yeah, Cj was up there playing, he's probably still up there right now."
PI: Can you talk about your relationship with CJ. A lot of people have been talking about you two having a pretty good bond together. Mabry: "Yeah CJ's my boy. We've known each other since my 9th grade year, we met at NC State team camp and then we played on an AAU team this past summer together."
PI: Would CJ committing to State have any impact on your decision or visa versa? Mabry: "You can say that. I mean CJ's my boy and it'd be a great opprotunity to play together because he's a great player. It'd be a great opprotnity to play with a great group of guys and great coaches that can bring the best player out of both of us."
PI: What position are the coaches envisioning you playing if you were to pick the Pack? Mabry: "I think I'll probably play mostly at the 3, but wherever the coaches put me I'll play but pretty much right now it's the 3."
PI: We got to see you last summer at Gibbons and you were pretty impressive. What have you improved on this past season if anything? Mabry: "I think I've probably improved on my shot blocking. I've been doing that pretty well. I also think I improved my shot and my ball handling got a little bit better."
PI: I know that nobody really knows anything, but if in your opinion where do you think CJ will end up next season? Mabry: "I think he's going to come to State. That's what I think."" |

damn, that Mabry interview really has my hopes up now. I've been skeptical up until now. That would be so sweet if we could land Mabry and CJL. so i think cj got word of mays transferring, and knew that state may be interested in mabry. since they're good friends, cj thought that he would see if mabry could get a scholly for next year too. lowe probably said in so many words "yes," and cj probably said in so many words "i'll commit." but cj wanted to wait, just to make sure (and just to get more attention), so they all agreed to keep it under wraps until he holds a press conference after he gets a free visit to uconn and after the nfl draft hype dies down. 4/22/2010 7:31:54 PM |
