haha you beat todd though, and kept him from getting first place- by 1 pt! hahaha, not as good as making the playoffs, but still a slight victory
and my team started out amazing, but due to injuries, and flops like Steve Smith, I finished 8-5 and am not looking to make it out of the first round of the playoffs. Peyton really needs to surprise some people this week (but I really don't believe it is going to happen) 12/8/2010 8:42:00 AM |

^^ I consider it a victory because the jerk stole Westbrook from us. Look how well that turned out for him
also, I think Peyton could go either way. A total flop to continue his downward spiral (just hope his INTs aren't returned for scores, so it'll hurt saps too) or he'll turn it around and have a 300+ yd, 4 td day with no turnovers. I don't ever see him being somewhere in the gray area.

Delhomme threw plenty of interceptions, but he still got Steve Smith the ball. There's something to be said for chemistry and playing with a guy for so many years. If Steve Smith was your first WR picked, then you deserve to be doing horrible in your league....even as your second WR picked it's debatable. 12/8/2010 9:10:42 AM |

^^^he still produced when matt moore was throwing to him last year... same with David Carr... your argument is invalid to me as none of his qb's should have been as bad as they were. It's like saying larry fitzgerald would be a dumb pick. He has been one of the best receivers year in and year out, no matter how crappy the qb getting the ball to him was. I blame this year on Clausen and Smith having terrible chemistry (Smith hates him), and then injuries putting different guys in there and messing up the timing for the entire offense

Matt Moore played well in games last year against teams at the end of the season when games didn't matter. Even then, Steve Smith still only had 7 touchdowns last year. And yes, Larry Fitzgerald would have been a dumb pick as your #1 WR this year because Kurt Warner was gone. Larry has had his best with with Warner as the QB. Leinart has been pure shit as an NFL QB...and their back-ups were horrible too. Oh hey, I take a look at Fitzgerald's stats this and see he has only 5 touchdowns...guess who's correct again. And Clausen is garbage, so thinking that even if Matt Moore did poorly that a rookie QB who has had no real experience throwing to Steve Smith in a real game would actually be able to get the ball to Smith while defenses key in on him because there are no other WR threats on the Panthers is borderline retarded.
Bottom line is that when you are drafting WRs, the QBs who are throwing them the ball is just as important as the actual WR. Put Jerricho Cotchery on the San Diego Chargers and he's getting you big fantasy points. But him on the Jets and he shouldn't even be picked up.
I don't even know why I'm arguing with you. Your poor fantasy team this year proves my points. And this is sports talk material, a section which you should probably avoid.

you have truly bested me, sir... As I mentioned earlier, I just barely missed not making the playoffs, so I must be truly terrible at Fantasy Football, and know nothing about the game (that I have made the championship 3 years in a row, and won twice, and the playoffs for 5 years running) And obviously Delhomme was the only reason Smith was good, and has nothing to do with our crap offensive line, that was a surprise to everyone in the league. Everyone, including the gurus, who had Smith as a top 20 reciever was obviously wrong. Sorry I pick WR's later (because unless you get one of the first 4 or 5, the next 15 are all about the same value). I will go hide in my corner of shame, because you have truly shown me the light, and I now realize I know nothing about fantasy football (I must have been wasting the last 17 years of my life doing something I clearly know nothing about)
ps- Smiths near 1000 yds and 65 receptions in 09, especially after breaking his arm during week 16, and suffering other injuries along the way- that is just piss stats right there... and those 7 tds? that was his average per season, except of 05 when he had 12. Nice try guy

You're the one that picked Steve Smith high and mentioned picking Larry Fitzgerald high this year...not me (not to mention with Boldin gone and defenses being able to key in on him). You must play with a bunch of winners if you keep "making" (not winning) the championship 3 years in a row.
The more you justify your decision, the worse you look. 12/8/2010 10:28:48 AM |

I picked up steve smith in the bottom of the 5th round... that's a bad pick? explain that to me? On paper, it should have been a good pick, but nope- He was there with the Giants Steve smith and Hines ward. Tell me I made the wrong decision. And I never said I would pick Fitzgerald high, but he is one of those receivers that makes things happen (like Smith). No, he isn't a top 5, but yes, he is going to be better than all the rest of the receivers on that team, and they have to pass at some point.

oh, I have no problem with Jbrick- I actually usually agree with most of the stuff he says on here. But he is acting like a tard here if he thinks steve smith was a bad pick in the bottom of the 5th round, and that 7 td's is a bad stat for a receiver (that continually makes the probowl with said stats) 12/8/2010 10:38:07 AM |

7td isn't bad for a receiver, but Smith has been in a steady decline the last few years, even if it's been because his QB keeps getting worse.
I'm going to quit giving you shit about it, because I think there were a few people who saw what Moore did at the end of the year and predicted a good 2010 for him (Peter King actually rode his nuts all offseason and I was like "wtf Peter?")...but I was not one of them...and couldn't understand the people who did. And with the Panther's o-line woes and lack any other decent WR depth...I wouldn't have even drafted Smith. I would have picked him up if I didn't like the WR's on my fantasy team. 12/8/2010 10:46:55 AM |
